'Stevie S' GONE TO JAIL FOR RAPE!!! Singer could get 7 Years

tm26566<<< Lemuel Stephen Smith ‘Stevie S‘.

Call it prophetic all you want, but yes the man who titled the song ‘Gone to Jail’ and once rocked the election campaign stage is today behind bars for real. Lemuel Stephen Smith, also known as “Stevie S” will spend another four weeks at HR Majesty Prison following his admission to rape of a 13 year-old girl in a Grand Bahama court on Thursday.

Five years ago Smith was arraigned before Magistrate Subu Swain in a Grand Bahama court then raped the schoolgirl in January 12th of 2004. The incident took place around 4pm near a chicken farm on the island.

The girl was said to be walking home at the time when the assault took place. Smith, known for singing popular songs such as “Hold Your Head”, “Come Go With Me To Bimini” and “One More Sweet Song”, among others was not required to enter a plea to the charge and was released on $20,000 cash bail.

But this past Thursday, just before his victim now 19 year-old was about to take the witness stand, Smith requested to address the court and admitted his guilt before Justice Vera Watkins.

Watkins denied bail and advised the accused that he would return to court for sentencing.

Smith was escorted out of the courtroom to the holding area before being transported into the capital to Her Majesty’s Prison late Thursday afternoon.

Under the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act, the 47-year-old entertainer is facing a maximum of seven years in prison.

Am a friend of stevie s, i think prison is the right place for him to be.cuz this aint the first time steve did this to a minor, from he did .hold ya head. and became popular,he,ll drive around all day trying to pick up school girls ,offer them money and have sex with them….HE<S A SERIAL RAPIST….. he was using his name to lure them in his car. The sad thing about this was…..HE WASNT USING CONDOMS ON THESE YOUNG GIRLS..if the prosecuter and judge ask the public to come forward if they know of any other instances happening, you,d be suprise to see how many young girls who, would say he tried the same thing with them,
just yesterday i learned something similar happened in bimini this year…WOW…THEY SHOULD GIVE HIM 14 YRS/NOT 7YRS

    You are right Kim

Tristan :Kim That can be the case. I cannot talk much about the case here but It isnt like that. You would be suporise as to the demands wanted from Stevie S to kill the whole trial. He did not pay up so he pleaded guilty.

Tristan, you sound like you are in the know on this one. I hope they were not trying to blackmail Stevie S. and when he did not comply with their demands, they decide to go ahead and press charges. If that is the case, I don’t blame him for coming clean. One thing I know about blackmailers is once they get money out of you once, they will always return whenever the cash run low. Who knows, if he had paid them, they might have still turned around and pressed charges against him, it is always best to own up to your mistakes and face the penalty one time.

It is high time men take responsibility for their lack of self-control and stop their animalistic behavior. Even if she pretended to be older and looked the part, a physical relationship should not nave been started like that. A lot of young girls are trying to bait these older men but it is our responsibility as adults to protect and not prey over them. Had he taken the time to know her a bit more, he would have found out how old she was. So even if it was an older woman, men need to look before they leap and find meaningful relationships (that won’t land them in jail by the way) and not meaningless sexual encounters that they will pay for eventually. So sad, but I hope it will be a lesson to others.

  6. Stevie must pay the penalty. There is an irony to this scenario though as Stevie is the first person to plead guilty b4 the Supreme Court in years.Well we should have lots of musicians coming out of HMP and the Prison should take advantage of this situation and use him to rehabilitate other inmates.I look forward to the many songs that will be produced behind bars.Musicians seem to prevalently get into trouble with underage girls and should have chaperones to stop this promiscuos behaviour. Thanks Stevie for owning up to your wrong and not using the intimidating method to get away.

  7. need some info says:

Oh geezeeee I’ll second that motion on men having sex issues………lol

  8. Dibbles says:

    @Kim Sands
I toally agree with you kim the rape victim should not be blamed for what had happen.

  9. Kim Sands says:

We should not be blaming the rape victim for what has happened to them. Especially, when the perpetrator has already admitted his guilt by pleading guilty to the charges. If that child had given Stevie S. it willingly wouldn’t he have explained that to the judge? If they were in a relationship shouldn’t he have admitted that? If he thought she was an adult, shouldn’t he have said so? People we need to stop making excuses for these rapists. From what I have been told Stevie S. actually knew the child and he had offered her a ride and he took her to or by a chicken farm and raped her. It is already hard enough that the victim as to live with these scars, we don’t need to add more to their pain by blaming them. Too often we look for excuses to blame the victim, we tell ourselves, she looked too mature for her age, she was dressed too sexy or too slack. Regardless to how a victim may look, act or dress, nobody deserves to be raped. I know we all love Stevie S. music, but let’s not condone his behavior. In fact I respect him for owning up to his crime.

I keep on telling some friends of mine that they better watch it fooling with these young girls and that there are plenty women of legal age who would give them what they looking for. If you want her so bad, you could wait tell she reach legal age. Quite frankly there ain’t no p** that’s worth 7 yrs. of your life down the drain sitting up in Fox Hell.
I don’t know what some of these girls be eating, but I second the fact that there are 13yr. olds who could pass for 21 yr. olds. And many of dem dam fresh and forward with it too.

    Tristan :
Idont want to talk to much about the case but he didnt randomly pick this girl up and raped her. He was wrong for being sexual with her but nothing was against her will. If you know her you will see why. He should have used better judgement.

Nassau crawling with these Junior Junglist. When you talking to a gal now a days you cant just ask her for her age, but you need to see her birth certificate cause you gat plenty underage girls acting like they 30.

  12. Drama King says:

I agree with Tristan. Stevie S was wrong to sleep with her but I think this is a case of Statutory Rape. I dont think he actually held down the girl and raped her. The fact that she was a minor at the time makes her “legally” incapable of making a sound, sexual decision, thus the rape charge.

  13. JT says:

    @Tristan
Are you saying that this child was a “willing” participant? My God she was barely a teenager. Either way it makes him a sick individual…very sick!

  16. WOW! says:

BP, and this is not a joke, you forget his other song. “I Gone too Jail, without no Bail”,the man is a prophet.

  17. ronica7 says:

LOL!!. Kim, boy you sure drop it hard. A lot of Bahamian men on the whole, seem to have serious sex issues.

  18. Kim Sands says:

This happened so long, I thought he was almost finished serving his time. Boy our justice system slow!!!. I love Stevie S music, but it is obvious that a screw is missing somewhere in his head. All these grown women out there selling their front or giving it away for free, you could tell me why he had to target that innocent school girl. That sick bastard!!!

  19. JT says:

I never knew he was accused of rape. That’s disgusting! He sings and entertains and turn around and rape a child. What the hell is going on in this country?
