COP of Police, Ellison Greenslade.

Nassau, Bahamas — Violence has erupted in the Bain Town community shortly after noon today following a police shooting, which killed a suspect in the neighbourhood. The man was shot in the head by police on the Hospital Lane and died on the scene.

Police COP, Ellison Greenslade, we are told, was live on the ground in Bain Town this afternoon but had to be evacuated along with senior officers as the violence spread.

We are told residents are being advised to stay indoors and remove themselves off the streets! We are also told motorist are being asked to avoid the area as thugs have anchored down in their sleeper cells firing upon citizens.

BP agents on the ground tell us, following the shooting residents reacted in unprecedented violence. Current updates confirm several police officers have been assaulted; two police cars firebombed and a ZNS van also destroyed.

We are told the rage by the residents resulted in a further destruction of private property where resident began turning on each other as the heated exchange of widespread violence in the district.

Bahamas Press has learnt a fire truck had also came under attack as it sought to stop the fire on the vehicles.

Like Mogadishu, the mongrels in the community appear fed up with law and order and are venting their distress in broad public view. BP has long said there is an untapped level of hidden violence in our communities that is joined to the hip with illegals/drug/gun-running and gang activity.

We advise police authorities to crush the riot at all cost and punish swiftly those who believe they could beat officers and destroy government property and walk free on bail.

WE NEED CHANGE!

  • @ WOW i fully agree Bahamians are too qucik to put forth thier OWN opinions without knowing the FACTS….yol is watch too much AMERICAN television…we live in the bahamas ppls and we have our OWN lwas maybe yol shud do as “WOW” say and go pick up a copy of the laws of the bahamas.smt…all of us have NO rights in judging anyone…leave that to The LORD. but the fact of the matter is the incident was unfortunate and there needs to be an urgent halt on crime.

  • WOW

Mr Deal you cnt be serious police must chase some down with a firearm in there hand yall really need to stop drinking stupid juice.
UNLESS YALL ARE POLICE STOP TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT SHUD BE DONE.
THE POLICE HAS THE RIGHT TO TAKE AWAY YA RIGHTS IF U DO SHIT. AND HOLD U FOR 48HRS OR 72 IF NEED BE.
YALL NEED TO STOP WATCHING THE COPS ON TV AND PICK UP A COPY ON THE BAHAMAS LAW IT ONLY $15 AT BAHAMAS PUBLICATIONS OFFICE.
    READ READ READDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

  • concerned bahamian

and one more thing, all of you justifying he just was strap and playing dice and not doing nothing to know one, that is ludicrous that was an unlicensed firearm and hence illegal i could c if its a 8 guage or sometin what we know could get license easy and he a business owner and just aint get around to licensing it but dat was a handgun what he will never b able to license here in the bahamas so what you thinking he doing with it, why he keeping it if he dont use it

  • well first off i would like to thank bahamaspress for updating us with the news right away on the weekend, and sorry to say it but it is kind of good to have another serious criminal off the street because if left to the police/court system he would be right back on the street in 3 days tops cause he post bail, terrorizing even more, because everytime these hoodlums post bail they is carry on more crazy robbing and killing and feeling like they invincible cause there will be no consequences or repurcussions, yall watch the news tonight how old the two niggers was on the arm robbery spree 18 and 19 rob superwash, rob shoe land or some place and various other ppl, and these niggers the same age as the nigger that got killed and guess what they had guns to, so what u think he was doing with that gun, helping him protect his winnings from the dice game a, frickin hypocrites justifying the barbarians and cavemen of this society, i feel once these lil niggers have guns the cops could shoot em cause they probably ain up to no good with it, i feel the police need to just barge in all these house in nassau to and do a search warrant or not, if ya aint want ya house search obviously ya gat somethin ya shudnt have, and thats my five cent

    • I respect your views..
However it is quite shallow of you to classify persons from such socioeconomic status as barbaric and cavemen!
And how irrational you are in saying that if a person has a gun to shoot them.. UH?????? No man has the right to give and take life as they please! But I forget, that we have alot of Roger rabbits out their who breath into society’s foolish laws!
I’m quite appalled at your statement, how could you classify persons as such as being that… no wonder why people want to be thugs… because someone who is barbaric obviously is feared.. it’s people like you who perpetuate the cycle of things as such…
I;ve come into contact with children who came from such areas, and the only thing they want to do is make a quick buck .. they have a “GHetto mentality”‘… and why is it that way because they live and breathe those things everyday.. i’m quite certain that you are knowledgeable of the phrase “children are the greatest imitators”
Instead of trying to assist in uplifting these people, people like you constantly put them down!
But hey what can I say, this is the way society was meant to be uhhh??????
This paradigm was created by man and their stupid ass laws.. and dumb theories about hierarchy…
      Just sad!

  • All of you stupid bahamians who support our police in nassau are idiots. They are civil servants. They do not have power over any of us yet they tend to think they do and this is the real problem. No matter the situation, If your an officer of the law YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO FIRE YOUR WEAPON UNLESS FIRED UPON 1ST. EVEN IF THAT YOUNG MAN HAD A GUN IN HIS HAND AND RAN FROM POLICE, THEIR JOBS ARE TO CHASE HIM DOWN AND NOT FIRE THEIR WEAPONS UNLESS FIRED UPON. This is reality bahamian people, if you cant deal with it then dont join the police force but we must remember that most people that join the force were un-educated and soft growing up in school. It also just saddens me that actual parents are supporting the police for wrongfully killing young people. Just shows how ignorant a lot of the adults in the bahamas are and that is whats holding the country back. Remember Brenton Smith who was fatally shot by a cop for no reason walking with his friend by city market. The cop even lied during his trial and this man is still on the police force with no charge. We really are turning into Haiti and Jamaica because of our parents ignorance….

  • I DISAGREE WITH THE BULK OF OPINIONS POSTED.
HOW DOES GAMBLING WARRANT A HEADSHOT. EVEN IN THE EVENT THAT THE YOUNG MAN POSSESSED A WEAPON UNLESS IT WAS BRANDISHED AND USED IN A MENACING MANNER, ALSO IF FIRING BECAME NECCESARY WHY MUST 3 ARMED OFFICERS USE LETHAL FORCE OPPOSED AN INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS YET TO FIRE A SHOT. ANYONE WHO CONDONES THIS IS AS AN ANT UNIFORM TO SOCIETY WITHOUT QUESTION FOR AUTHORITY. WHAT IF YOUR FAMILY MEMBER WAS KILLED BY SOMEONE UNTRAINED UNSEASONED HENCE EASILY UNNERVED.
IF THE POLICE SHOT ANY OF MY NEIGHBOORS FOR A MINOR OFFENCE I’D BE APPAULED IF WE DIDN’T COME TOGETHER TO CLEANSE OUR SURROUNDINGS OF IT’S OPPRESSORS.
IMAGINE A FAMILY MEMBER I WOULD KILL SO MUCH OF THEM THERE WOULD BE NO REDEMPTION FOR MY SOUL………….

    • Thats how dumb people like you are, an ILLEGAL FIREARM is not a minor offense. They are used for one thing only in this country and that is to KILL. Its not like he was brandishing a flare or paint gun, and even those CAN be dangerous.

  • A gun was recovered from the ‘good lil boy’ and a similar is on the front page of the punch. No further explanation needed. 12 rounds in the clip and one left in the weapon . Wake up people and stop calling other criminals names on these posts because everyone shall have their day of reckoning. These criminals must be stopped because that same gun could have been used on you or me . Right cannot be seen as wrong that is the mentality that got us where we are in the first place. No one wants to follow any rules or conduct themselves with dignity anymore. It seems as if being bad is good, well at least for some people……….

  • REALIST

Well its good to see that us Bain Towners have some support on feeling betrayed by the Law. But just so you know that riot escalated due to the dirty cops of our Police Force. To all of your knowledge a police came and tried to framed that dead boy in justifying his shooting. But hey, I have siblings and there are times when we do stray away and get in trouble. But Marco was not troublesome. He was a young man with a bright future, one that anyone in the community could have called on to do anything and was respectful. It hurts to lose someone that you know genuinly has a good heart. The police officer that shot him grew up and has family members that live around there. He is one of those officers that let the shiny badge get to his head and come and bother the young men in that Community. He continously comes and bothers persons and you can’t question him because he is an officer of the law. Talk what you know and not what you think. We the people of BainTown have feelings and Morals, we try to teach our children the right way but we only have limited resouces hey we’re in the ghetto of Nassau. What about all the Suburan, Private Schooled kids that are doing the same or even worst crimes? They where given an opportunity to do good and got mixed up with the wrong crowd. Anyway I just hope that Marco had a chance to ask for forgivenes because he at a time was caught up in the sins of the world and I pray for his family because they are constantly losing family members.

    • Um how was he not troublesome and he was carrying a gun AND was on bail for having an Illegal firearm and ammunition?? Cop was on patrol and saw someone with a gun, he confronted him and shots rang out. This is a simple case. Next all the little criminal thugs in that area start throwing rocks at people and blow up a police car and damage other PRIVATE property, yeah thats a really non troublesome lot there.

  • Wake up people of the Bahamas how long will we stay in this state whereas we have the criminal dictating to us how we should live in this Bahamaland…I frankly do not know about the situation that occur in Bain Town so I therefore withhold all comments until I know exactly what took place. We as Bahamians like to listen and dwell on rumors and heresy rather that waiting on facts. Crime is on the rampage in this country and until we come together as law abiding citizens and stop criticizing and putting down the RBPF who daily go above and beyond putting their lives at risks just to make sure we have some kind of peace. When I was young and did something wrong at school I remember my mother never going to the school cussing out and breaking down the school even if I was right or wrong. If she had to criticize the teachers she did that without me being around .This is just to say if we keep putting down RBPF publicly where criminals can see we are justifying them in their wrong doing how do we expect this country to be any better. “Evil exists when good men stand around and do nothing”. Make a decision do we want crime to come to a stand still in our country, or continue to have this argument about WHAT, HOW and WHEN the police should do their jobs. And for those who think they could handle these situation any better then register at the POLICE COLLEGE they are always looking for recruits. Sign up and see exactly what these officers have to face each and everyday.

  • A point in all of this that needs to be understood: A police reserve officer CAN carry a weapon. If they are trained and authroised they CAN and in many instances DO carry a weapon. They operate in every area of the Force from desk duty to traffic duty to court duty to investigations, detective work and forensics. There is no area where they do not work. And they can be armed. The era of a reservist being seen as a “security” guard/officer has long been over.

  • I have been reading thru the comments and noticed that quite a bit of persons were saying that this young man was innocent, or a good guy. I was just wondering – if this was the case, since gambling is illegal his participation says alot about his character. Also, since he was such a good guy, what was he doing walking around with a gun on him? It only must have meant that even if he has never killed before, he would have been willing to do it.
I won’t give the police wrong for shooting, since if someone reaches for a gun no one but that person knows what they are going to do with it (people are only speculating after the fact that he was going to get rid of it), however the judgement to shoot in the head is definately flawed (even though I feel that that was not the police officer’s intention – everything probably happen so quickly).
As for destroying government property, that is a NO NO, and hopefully that is caught on camera and those people can be brought before the court. at no time, can we allow people to think for even a minute that they can take the law into their own hands. I am happy that this did not end worse, and hope that community leaders can now work with this community in an effort to resolve or prevent further escalations in this matter. Obviously there are some wrongs but we still need to respect the police and allow them to do their jobs.

    • So with your reasoning the police should go to all the webcafe’s tomorrow and start poppin people.
And it is being disputed that he actually had a gun…. As the police as from what i read never recovered a gun from the scene.

      • media

We support a call on the NATIONAL GUARD! The time has come for the Defense Force to join the police and weed out these criminal elements in these communities.

        BP

  • @ RIP your first sentence says alot. He een do nuttin’ he was only strapped. Was he a police that is why he has a licensed firearm? While the police should have had a better way to disarm him, this speaks to why there is so much wrong in our society. If persons in his family/community know that this young man travelled with weapons, they should have encouraged him to turn the weapons in and discountinue this lifestyle where everyone thinks they should be strapped. If someone had spoken to him or turned him in, maybe just maybe……

  • First and foremost let me indicate that the incident that has occurred is truly sad on both levels:
    1. that a young boy (regardless of the fact the he was a robber) was shot in the back of the head.
    2. that police officers were attacked
However contrary to the fairytale society that many of us ‘Bahamians’ decide to live in please someone tell me how is it possible to shoot someone in the back of the head over a gambling game, whiles the person was trying to run away???
The law system (in particular the policing unit) is corrupt!!!! And it’s just sad that many of you turn a blindeye towards the fact that what the police officer did was wrong!!!! Wake up out of your fantasy slumbers and stop living by the fairytales that society has given to us!!!
In a way I do not blame the persons of that community in retaliating in such a manner! They were there! They witnessed it! They saw the injustice and corruption and took action!
This scenario just goes back to slavery! Black police officer(slavedriver), poor people (subdued, tired of being cheated) retaliated! And no matter how many of you try to sugarcoat the situation reality is reality!
And stop judiging the people because of their socioeconomic status! I bet you any thing that if it had happened in one of your FANCY neighbourhoods, the persepective of many would have been so different! Or of it had happened to someone that you knew!
Do you know how many persons die wrongfully at the hands of some young insubordinate officer?! People wake up and smell the coffee! Stop being so small minded!!!!!

    • If indeed he had a gun and regardless of whether he was running away, if he had the gun he had to be stopped. That police may have saved the life of someone you know.

      • I respect your point of view Newsman!
However, under speculative circumstances, did he really have a gun?
Another thing, was he shooting the gun at the police? Did they see him with the gun? I mean what???? I am so lost!!!!!
They knew the individual, they could have dealt with it in a different manner. The same tactic they used to lock him up the first time they could have done it again!
I’m just lost! More like confused! it just saddens me how they try to manipulate factual evidence just to make themselves look like heroes! Mind you there are a few loyal cops on the force! But lets be honest, the majority of them are flams! Corrupt! Badminded!
I have first hand knowledge of some propesterous stories made up by the police to cover up their mess! In Andros a officer was susposedly cleaning his gun, and it went off mistakingly! He got shot bullet going through his hand then forehead! UHHHHHHHH???????????????????????????????????????????????
Police officers are just human beings that are trained to be a certain way! However when human nature overrides discipline!!! Good luck!!

        • **preposterous

        • newsman

I cant say as I wasnt there, but I deal with young thugs all the time in the work I do, I see the violence from them almost every day. But still one is innocent until proven guilty. However our court system has let us down, with murderers getting manslaughter sentences, as little as 2 years in one case and another as little as 5 years, for cold blooded murder. I do realize that many of the cops here are simply put, DUMMIES, but im sure there are SOME smart ones .. actually I KNOW there are. Road Traffic takes the cake though, they are simply as dumb as they come. Instead of spending 2.7 million to MAYBE track some low priority inmates, on a company with a bad record no less and in major financial dismay, they could spend that money on less lethal weapons such as rubber bullets and stun guns for the cops .. but it seems the government (both of them) have no clue what to do. Ofcourse if someone has an illegal firearm in the Bahamas they only have that for one reason, and until the court system starts working properly, I dont have a problem with the police using lethal force in certain cases – but as you said .. how do we really know what goes down.

  • I read the majority of these posts and it is absurd to assert the notion that the person who was shot was innocent. Where you there? NO….these thugs are not afraid of the police and are very confrontational…the do it in police station and the do it at the Court…some have no respect for the court, this is what ive witnessed first hand. We werent there we dont know the circumstances of the shooting….NO ONE CAN cover up a shooting that resulted in death. Was there a threat to the police….these are all questions that have to answered instead of jumping to conclusions. Justice will be served either way…but to compound the seriousness of the situation to have it escalated to this point only proves and or supports the force used by police in that community….obviously they have to come serious, because the bad elements in that community are confronational and lawless…Keep up the good work police….If you are approached by the police there is no need to act stupid…just relax and do what they say, you are dealt with how you carry yourself…..

  • I have read the majority of posts on this site, and for the most part

  • BP you prove just how much of an ignoramus you are with every post you publish. You hardly make sense and your grammar resembles that of a 3rd grader. You clearly have no credentials and I often wonder whether you actually finished high school. I don’t know if you had time from your gossip-mongering schedule to watch the news because I did and I saw with my own eyes the COP address the crowd with the media covering his speech. But whether he addressed the media there or somewhere else is immaterial since the footage shown showed that he was okay. It is people like you that prefer to create mischief because you get off on that sort of stuff. You posted some nonsense about the COP being evacuated and the man said himself that he was never in any danger. The SPIN and DEFLECTION you’re talking about originates from your spineless and cowardice backside!!! I don’t intend to argue with you on whether there was a riot or not because by all definition of the word, what occurred in Bain Town was not a riot. Go get a High School Diploma and learn grammar while you spewing all kind of venom around the place…no wonder neither the FNM or PLP would associate with your cracky behind!

    • media

We report TOM and you DECIDE! Carry on Smartly!

      BP

  • RIP MARCO…are you serious?

“as he ran from the scene like everyone else shooting dice and attempted to ditch his weapon he was executed. The results that followed was a direct response to Law enforcements lack of respect for the law”

It is extremely sad for you and your family to lose a life in such a tragic way, and additionally, sad to see that this is what our country has come to.

It is still not clear as to what really went down in Bain Town, but based on the information you provided both parties were in the wrong.

Your cousin was wrong for possession of of a gun and the officer although doing his job could have handled the situation in another way.

You said, ” Law enforcements lack of respect for the law” What about your cousin’s lack of respect for the law? It is unlawful to have possession of a firearm other than a shotgun. Did you possibly consider that the officer responded with his weapon as a result of seeing your cousin drawing a weapon?

If your cousin was not doing anything illegal he would have no reason to run. A lot of people say that they shot an innocent guy, that may be so, but he was also breaking the law. Yet, you make it sound like that was okay for him to do so. Why didn’t he stay and face the consequences of his actions? because everyone else ran? That means if they jump off the building so should he?

Indeed our officers do need better training before they go out into the field, and should practice better judgment.Nonetheless, being an office today in our country is not an easy task either. Like a few commenters stated, we fight and through rocks at our Police today, but tomorrow call on them to help us with out problems.

I wish the public could know more about what really happened out there; but I do know destroying property was not the answer.

    • Well this one is mindboggling! You said that What about your cousin’s lack of respect for the law? It is unlawful to have possession of a firearm other than a shotgun. Did you possibly consider that the officer responded with his weapon as a result of seeing your cousin drawing a weapon?

Ummmmmm … read your statement again carefully!
So I am running away from you?? At the same time I draw a gun!! It was not aimed at you? You claim that you were tryinG to get rid of it! (WHICH MAY JUST BE CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE, BECAUSE WHICH CRIMINAL WOULD TRY AND DITCH THE GUN RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE POLICE.. STILL LOST ON THAT ONE) So you’re running ???? And you get shot in the back of your head?????
I lost because it still does not give the police officer the right to shoot at someone when they ARE RUNNING FROM THEM! WHERE IS THE LOGICALITY OF THE SITUATION! WHERE IS IT ?? PLEASE DO TELL ME!

I AM RUNNING AWAY FROM YOU BECAUSE I KNOW THAT I HAVE SOMETHING IN MY POSSESSION WHICH IS ILLEGAL! Yes the young man was wrong for carrying the gun! But it still does not justify you an officer or reserve to shot me in the back of my head! I’m using my legs to run not my head! And even if you are still not to fire shots at a person who is running AWAY FROM YOU!

  • appaled citizen you talking ****! you live in bain town? while everybody in Bain town are not criminals yal know who the crimianls are!!!! The criminals are yal sons, brothers, cousins, uncles and fathers…..an yal dont alienate them…yal does harbor them!!!!! So from the beggining yal against the police because yal live off the proceeds of crime! Not speaking of that incident particularly but in general! Every time one of these criminals die yal all about bout my good son, my good brother, my good this and good that…..bullshit!!! Yal Ga Stop Supporting Crime When Yal Become A Victim Of It! Let The Investigation Of The Shooting Happen And STOP JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS!!!

  • It hurts me that a young man lost his life under those circumstances whether he was armed or just another victim of rogue officers. What happened yesterday only shows us the rapid growth of violence in our urban communities needs to be addressed and brought under control. The leaders of this country are not effected by situations like this out there in their communities out west/east because the bloodshed has not reached their front gates. I’m sorry it had to be a relative of the commissioner but, maybe now that something like this has happened to one of their own they will take disciplinary actions against dirty cops and address the nations growing crime issue! My condolences goes out to the Greenslade family.

P.S. ….Let’s see them try cover this one up!

  • Appalled Citizen

LOL @ Ash… When last have you been in Bain Town?? I live here and the last thing i see is bush… Really? smt… Some of yall sound nice and ignorant on this website!
Im still waiting to hear why the Police shot someone in EXECUTION STYLE.. Cuz I know alot of people on the force and they say that they teach you to aim at the LEGS if trying to bring down someone … hmmm Im also waiting to hear WHY IN THE WORLD a RESERVE officer carrying a gun.. That don’t come with the job description!!! YALL JUST FULL A ****

    • @appallled Citizen, if you find me ONE serving member of any armed Law Enforcement Agency, who can say they are trained to shoot in the leg and I’ll will say that they are officers who were trained shortly before and after we gained Independence as a nation….a Reserve Officer is a member of the force as long as he is on duty and has the same priviledges….I was about to respond to your style of writing but I wont stoop so low to an imbecile who is only responding to what he thinks and NOT FACTS…the core problem in our society, everyone wants to speak on issues and have NO knowledge on what they speak…reading is knowledge and knowledge is power appalled citizen..purchase the statute laws of the bahamas and READ!

    • Sad event indeed and shows the general direction our nation is headed in.

Couple things..Is it just me or does aiming for extremities of a running suspect (be it head, legs or arms) a bad idea?

Also bush or no bush dudes don’t need bush to do they dirty work in Bain Town or the Kemps or wherever anyhow.

I don’t want to jump to conclusions but IF he was armed and gambling, attempt to escape an officer and reach for a weapon to ditch it…can’t that be easily mistaken for someone reaching for the weapon to use it as well? Again I don’t know.

Another thing, what surprises is that we actually go after the petty gamblers deep in Bain Town, while we leave the gambling king pins on the main road alone who rake in millions annually.

We have a perfect storm brewing in this country and unfortunately the net effect is incidents like this. Legislation, enforcement (or the lack-thereof), corrcuption decaying social order, lack of regard for laws, little to no parental upbringing, aiding and abetting of unlawful behavior, increased tension between citizens and officers etc have been adding up and will continue to until something happens.

I hope we get our country back before it does.

      • And a reserve at that?????! A reserve????!!!! That is even worse!!!! And just look at how some of you commentators are calling these persons who retaliated fools!! Hello!! A gambling game??? WTH! Our top hotel Atlantis permits gambling!! Ohhhhh yeah I forgot!! Only foreigners can gamble in their sad!!! (another sad situtation! Kerzner felt as though we Bahamians were profiting too much from his casino so he got the govt’ to pass a law making gambling illegal in the Bahamas)
If a poor black man wishes to gamble let him do so!! We have other issues to deal with on our hands! We have murderers, rapists, serial killers to catch!!!
All of you Alices, Aladdins, Princess Jasmins and Ariels!!! Please check into reality! Time is expiring!!!!

    • UMMMM….it seems as if those people you know on the force are just as lost as you are..”they teach you to aim at he legs?? WHAT?? The police targets that are used fro training to have legs…chest and head..THEY LIKE ALLL LAW ENFORCEMENT ARE TRAINED TO KILL! Check ya facts appalled. And a reserve officers is trained just like full fledge officer to carry firearms because THEY ARE OUT THERE PUTTING THEIR LIVES IN DANGER JUST LIKE REGULAR OFFICERS!! I’m appalled at you coming on this website speaking mess like its a fact. What you need to do is talk to R.I.P and the both of you encourage your friends and neighbors in Bain Town to give up them guns and make more productive use of their time by cleaning up the streets and buildings instead of sitting on the blocks all day gambling which is illegal!Born and raised in BAIN TOWN AND TIRED OF THE FOOLISHNESS!!

      • Correction * the police targets that are used for training have n legs…just chest and head*

  • ***** the Police.. They UNLAWFULLY shot my 19 year old cousin inthe head execution style because he was at a dice game in the ghetto and strapped. They did not try to aprehend or alk him down… as he ran from the scene like everyone else shooting dice and attempted to ditch his weapon he was executed. The results that followed was a direct response to Law enforcements lack of respect for the law.. and the destruction of goernment property was paid for by my tax dolalrs just like yours and doesnt ammount to my lil cuz life. They will soon realize that not everyone respects or fears the law.. as a matter of fact some people are fed up with it and senseless acts like yesterdays shooting brings it all to the forefront. They give a 20 yr old police officer a gun to protect and serve he uses it for murder instead and then they froun a community that refuses to lay down & play dead. The government is responsible for what is taking place in the country… they should spend less time teacheing police how to shoot and more time teaching them how to run… beacause in noway possible is a dice game suppose to leave a mother childless, brothers and sisters with no1 to look out for them and my lil cousin dead and the only side of the story to be replayed is that of the media… those who get tv time and then those who contriol the media and says what to put on TV and what facts they feel shud be Omitted. I kno people think yesterday was crazzy but the sad part is… there’s so much more left to come. Innocent blood was spilled yesterday and that blood has struck a whole community with anger and despite the medias portrayl of yesterdays events… if your not the mothe.. the victim or was present at that dice game through the corner u will never understand.. nor will u ever be exposed to the truth of such events… Me personally I am waiting on Justice… for my lil cuz and is family but if u know like i knw the same police sworn to protect and serve are the same ones that rape steal and kill… so the likihood of their being justice is near to none hence the reason for the yesterdays violence, and now more likely than not future violence within the are… and as the government points fingers at society they need to point fingers at themselves for allowing ignorant people to pack not only a side arm which is dangerous enough but you combine it with a badge and you have one of the most deadly un accountable murderers in the history of the land. the same people they swear to protect are the onces the Kill and the reason he Shot without askin questions is simple Bcuz he is an Officer Of the Law and he can get away with MURDER.

    • A man has a weapon and then removes it to ditch it is an incredible feat.At least you are truthful in saying the young man was armed.Unfortunately instead of just running and getting away he pulled it.A clear case of justifiable harm by the Policeman.

    • RIP you sound like a total jackass. You admit that old boy was strapped and expect us to give him our sympathy. You sound so stupid with your dumb a$$.

Did the people Marco shot or robbed have an opportunity to talk him down???! Get the EFF out of here.

    • You CANT be serious.
Now you just closed the case as a justifiable shooting by the police. The suspect was ARMED with an ILLEGAL HANDGUN which are ONLY used in CRIMES such as violent robberies and murders here in the Bahamas, and then he ran and pulled it out to “ditch it” you claim?? A policeman’s duty is to protect and therefor ANYONE found with an ILLEGAL firearm (or other dangerous weapon in public) has to be taken down, if they try to run, they MUST be taken down, or they may likely kill some INNOCENT citizen if they have not already. This police may have saved other lives and you people want to attack him, fine, well that is what criminals do, they think they can do what they like. Everyone knows police in Nassau can be bad people too, especially with the beatings and other forms of police brutality and most are not the smartest of the lot, but ACCORDING TO YOU the outcome is that in this case the police was justified in his shooting – however it would have been better if he had wounded him (? so he could get right out and kill the police and other people??) If you are going to carry an ILLEGAL firearm you better know how to surrender to the police properly, that is the same in any country.

    • Firstly RIP Marco its sad the your family have suffered a loss however do you and all the other Bain Town rioters supporters “serious”. I was born and raised in Bain Town as a matter of fact just up the street from where the incident happened, no I wasn’t present however based on YOUR ACCOUNT OF THE STORY YOU HAVE JUST JUSTIFIED AND VERIFIED THE REASON FOR YOUR COUSIN BEING SHOT! People lets keep it real. Your cousin was in possession of a firearm and I assume live ammunition, he ran upon seeing the officers and pulled his firearm from his waist (in an attempt to ditch it)…Police officers in the Bahamas like every else area trained to KILL. The officers dont know your cousin hence don’t know his capabilities. Can you say that your cousin would not have tried to confront the officers?…no and y the HELL does your “Good Cousin have a gun”? Ohh its okay for him to have it and mayb lend it to a friend or use it himself to rob and possibly takes someone elses life. Police officers are trained and must make split second decisions. The US may have its ways but I respect them because they DON’T NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORIST” Okay so lets say the police ran behind him IN HIS NEIGHBOURHOOD which they dont know was well as him, he would have had they opportunity to hide himself and kill one of the officers or he could simply ran away but WE DON’T KNOW THAT AND NEITHER DO THE POLICE SO WHEN CONFRONTED WITH A FIREARM ITS A POSSIBILITY THAT THEY CAN LOSE THEIR LIVES! These R.I.P are the decisionsthat police officers have to make every day on their jobs. YOU ON THE OTHER ALONG WITH EVERY PRESENT AT THE TIME SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES AND HOLD YOUSELF RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR COUSINS DEATH BECAUSE AS HIS LOVING COUSIN KNOWING HE WAS ARMED SHOULD HAVE TOLD HIM BETTER BUT SITTING ON THE BLOCKS IN A KNOWN DRUG INFESTED AREA (AND ITS A FACT BECAUSE I LIVE IN BAIN TOWN) GAMBLING (WHICH IS ILLEGAL) WITH A GUN IN YOUR WAIST IS OKAY!! We don’t know how many persons have been terrorized or made victims of violence by THAT GUN YOUR COUSIN HAD ON HIS WAIST!! Keep it real!!! Its sad that a life was lost especially a young one but until you change your mindset and feel its okay to break all kinda laws with no consequences then our communities would never get any better. RESPECT IS A TWO WAY STREET….you have to respect the law and the same should be given. This is not for all the hardworking, respectful people of Bain Town who TIRED OF ALL THE ROBBERIES, HOUSEBREAKING, DRUG PEDDLING happening in our community and being committed by the wayward PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITIES!!

  • Tom

BP you always got to go to the extreme in trying to be reporters. The Commissioner himself told the real media that he had not been harmed nor was he ever in any danger. I don’t know what evacuation you were talking about but the big man was clearly seen traversing the community. No wonder no one ever take’s you people serious!

    • media

Well Tom did you ask the COP why he made his statements to the “ESTABLISH WUTLESS PRESS” in front of the Market Street police Station and not near the scene? Could you answer his comments that there was no riot? How he never mentioned the attack on his officers and the destruction of police property? Some a yinner don’t know SPIN and DEFLECTION if the words covered the entire page of the Tribune Monday morning.

READ THE WUTESS PAPERS COME MONDAY AND GET THE HELL OFF BP!

      WE REPORT, YINNER DECIDE!

      BP

    • lol… I agree fully with you Tom

  • Police shooting…What should I do!?
    A) Start throwing rocks, cuz my rocks faster than their bullets.
    B) Stand up in the middle of the road to see who they’re shooting at, because I fear no Babylon!
    C) Run inside and grab my video camera, cuz ya know, I like see whats going on through my corner, especially when gamblin game come!
D)Go to a bank, use the footage from a riot as down payment for why you need a house mortgage in a peaceful crime-watch neighborhood!
    E) GET IN THE FLIPPIN HOUSE AND COME FROM THE WINDOWS, CUZ THEY AIN’ LOOKING FOR ME!!!!

  • Sad.

    • I am sorry to say I do not support nobody carring a gun in haiti the most feared person was a police or soldier carring guns and now we are governed and live like haitians of the duvalier era who forced the people to retaliate in haiti the police the ton ton macoutes and the law was runned from haiti when yhe people had enough of thier corrupt ways I see the same things happening in the bahamas in the sixties haitians were running from their own leaders of thier country or you bahamians dont remember the stories they told us when they reach here to the bahamas all i am saying is the man to top will say lets fight crime from the bottom up but they fail I the small tell them fight crime from the top down and be successful

  • I don’t applaud what happened yesterday in Bain town in fact i am heart broken by the incident. I’m reading so many of the responses posted yesterday and today. After watching the clip and hearing the kids shout ” he was just gambling minding his own business and they shot him” now you tell me what do you do in that situation. I also heard another voice in the video clip saying “i so tired of police harassing us” People wake up i grew up around that area, and you know what the problem is, its the respect level for one another. Most policemen are some of the biggest thugs in the Bahamas. Policemen went into a family community neighborhood killed a young man and you really think that wouldn’t set fire to the hearts of the folks that are resident. What did you really think was gonna happen, the people over the hill don’t like violence either but most policemen are very unprofessional when it comes dealing with citizen that live in those areas. Many have posted comments that has left me speechless calling the people in Bain Town criminals but a young man was gunned down and killed his existence is no more . So why would it not be sane to react, that was someone’s brother someones son someones best friend. I’ll reiterate I don’t applaud what happened but i can understand why they reacted.

    • finally another understanding Bahamian… I applaud you…

    • VIOLENCE, AND DISTRUCTION WILL NOT BRING HIM BACK…IT WOULD ONLY CREATE A MORE HOSTILE ENVIROMENT. WE ARE IN NEED OF BETTER PARENTS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS (NOT GREEDY PASTOR/POLITICAN)
SOME SREAS ARE BREEDING GROUND FOR THESE THUGS AND MANY PARENTS KNOW WELL WHATS GOING ON WITH THEIR CHILDERN

  • People of the Bahamas, there is a right and a wrong way to do things. regardless to who was in the wrong this was certinally not the way for our unanswered questions to be answered ! when we as Bahamians begin to see riots taking place in our Country it is certinly a time to check our selves.
Inaddition how do we sit back and watch something like this an think it’s funny ? How do we ! when the respect for law and order no longer esist, how do we think its funny ? Time to take crime a bit more serious !

  • I am a resident of a urban area, and as a young man i have had numerous encounters with the police, and for every time I responded in a respectful way and I received the same amount of respect. The Royal Bahamas Police Force is an association filled with professions just trying to do their job. More credit needs to be given to our police.
I think the police just needs more training in dealing with hostile situation.
Its really sad that a life was lost in this whole ordeal, my heart goes out to the family.

    • Well that’s good if that’s your experience. But I dare so most young men, even those who do act respectfully, don’t receive couteous responses in return.

      • The problem is MANY young Bahamian males DONT act respectfully. They carry on with soljah this and dawg that .. turn off the thug music for a minute and just act like normal human beings, then you will be treated as such.

  • Ash

Parents Right now dont have the means to get higher education and I will never judge the way they grow up, so they them selves are not education their kids in righteous ways. The police is just to enforce the laws, but the biggest thing I feel the claims to have the biggest role in the Bahamas is the christian Councel. Their job is to go through neighbors and gaining trust in people, making a bond, not sitting high behind TV shows trying to stop Harry Potter movies????????? I live in the US but is a citizen in the Bahamas. I want to come home but not yet and when I do I hope to help people in special ways.

    • the christian council too busy puttin their nose up in political areas where it shouldn’t be.. Instead of they be more concerned about where half these pastor puttin the church money.. that should keep them occupied..

  • Ash

I believe that If I was prime minister I would clear out that neiborhood and clean it up. I beleive too much bush around in bean town where these dudes can hide in the bushes and deal drugs. I would clear out and make the area spacey just like freeport. For people safety I would not care if people love the way they live but I see it as a way for police to drive through swifly and people can walk through clearly. I think that having people live so closely will cause drama.

    • hello earth to Ash.. .drugs is being selled world wide by some of the highest people in power..clean out bushes.. you actin like guys just sit down in bushes all day and sell drugs in bain town.. if that’s what your family does in your yard in da bush, we don’t wanna know.. your too damn narrow minded…

  • BP please stop putting our private business on youtube
    for the world to see

    • media

It becomes the world business when you could run the Commissioner of Police and the head of a regional body out of a community in the Bahamas! It becomes the world business when young men and women see law in the Bahamas cockeyed and against the poor. It is the world’s business when we say out a one mouth we want the world to come here and ignore the PLIGHT of the THE WEAK IN OUR COUNTRY!

WE WANT CHANGE! And if it takes the world seeing how NASTY we does carry on in our bedroom, then that is what it will take! THIS IS NOT CHINA, DIS THE BAHAMAS!

      BP

PS: And when ya tired a reading the truth Stan, go and wait until Monday and buy the DAMN LYING watered down TOILET PAPER! And get ya you_KNOW_WAT OFF BP!

      • smt… Why don’t you do us all a favour and shut the Phuck up!! Alwayz on here breathin alot of hot air out.. Just bias.. Why don’t you be the first to say something when these same young black men are abused by the police in holding cells, picked up on minor misdemeanors that anyone could’ve been picked up on.. even so much as a speeding ticket… or just cause they’re bored and wanna beat up on these poor black boys they pick them up, talkin shit about acting suspicious.. why didn’t Bahama press go and show the world how inhuman we as young people are treated by police for no apparent reason.. Or did they bother telling the world about how our police molest their own kids, rob bars, kill innocent civilians in pinewood, molest young boys, sell drugs along with soo many other crimes that they do but stupid people like you help to be pushed under then rug.. Why don’t you do us all a gawd damn favour and sit ya tired ass down…!!

  • No matter where you are, one thing seems to be a given with cops: they abuse their power because they do not understand the responsibility that is given to them. Sure, there’s a reason to shoot someone in the head, but the people aren’t going to just assume that you HAD a good reason just because you’re a cop. If there is even the slightest confusion as to why a cop does such a serious ting, you will have a riot. We can’t now spin it and blame the rioters. If a cop shows up where I live and shoots a black man that looks like me in the head in broad daylight, I’m getting my gun too and locking all the doors. I don’t care if you had good reason, I am not going to wait for you to mistake me as someone else that needs to catch lead. Your good reason isn’t going to bring that dead young man alive.

It’s rational for the “thugs” and so-called “gangsters” (read: young black people) to have heightened emotions and act aggressively. Cops are shooting people that look like them.

  • the person from bain town, dont assume people dont care, tell your side of the story if you want people to listen to you, or shut up.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGjb5rUqqV0

  • wow this shyt is crazy, anyway i’ll wait to hear the full story, but from what i’m hearing this dude was unarm and for a police officer to run up on a group of men for gambling and open fire on them is wrong i dont care how you put it..if this is true then i can understand why people retaliate the way they did.what i dont understand is why some of us as bahamains are so foolish, i heard about 30 or more gun shots in that video & every 1 running all over the place in the open. even a fool know that is a stupid thing to do. now if anyone of them did got a bullet in their a** they looked for it…being a police in that city aint easy i’m an ex-cop i know..

    • Thankyou Spragga.. Finally someone decided to think outside of the box that’s alwayz in the police ass…

  • Let me make it clear I fully support the POLICE and let me also say thanks to BP for the fair manner in which this particular story was presented.

Bahamians we have to support the POLICE, some of our young men are out of control. Let the police do their job.

  • All we are lacking in this country is LOVE. It is as simple as that. Parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, neices, nephews and friends can just share that simple four letter word they we will all can have caring and respect for each other. A simple express as that is a small ounce of cure for not living a long life. Can we all just get along?

  • And in case ya didn’t know the only ones firing shots today in Bain Town were friggin POLICE!!!

    • I heard the government just invested in electronic monitors? They should have bought Taser? Teza? thas how u spell it? You know what I mean, guns, to simply take the suspect down for an arrest..Y ou have to becareful who we give real guns to..Thats preventing the expense of the Monitors before you be needing it. Come on we have to fight crime using better equipment than the thugs on the street.

      • Good Point. Don’t know what’s going on when some try to insinuate, that police have the right to shoot somebody, because they told him to stop and he didn’t…. unless he was in the process of causing harm to them or somebody else. Under that same yard stick, the police should have shot and killed all the young men who were throwing rocks at them yesterday, and as a matter fact, the individuals yesterday who probably did the most damage to the police are still living!
You cannot yet frusfration with crime cause you to support an over-reaching and abusive police authority, because at one time, they will in the name of public safety use too much force on the wrong person and possibly kill the wrong person, something like what most likely happened with Brenton Smith. Your right the police need tazers, and just better training period. We know Bain Town people can carry on like thugs, lets not bring the police down to their level in an effort to fight them, unless we will be further doomed.

      • He was a reservist… in no way are you EVER allowed to carry a weapon by law.. you are just like a mere security officer.. if anything he should’ve been armed with pepper spray..

        • actually he was a full time officer. And as a police officer, they are ALWAYS a police officer therefore can carry guns.

  • OK, most sensible people concur that the reaction of some of the residents to attack the police and destroy public property was reckless and criminal and they should be brought to justice. But I am hearing very little as to why the police initially shot and killed the young man???
    was he armed???
did he pose some sort of direct threat to an officer?
he was shot in the back of the head from what i heard, which means he was not even facing officers at the time they fired on him???/
To me it is equally or even more disturbing that we have trigger happy police than it is that grassroot people will react like grassroot people when they witness what in their eyes they consider to be an ‘injustice’

    • I agree with you in a sense, but there are also reasons why the police could have shot him, maybe he was trying to run away, police told him to stop and he didn’t. It’s Bain Town, its very unlikey that this young man was shot for no reason.

      • Because police tell someone to stop, and they don’t stop that gives the police the right to shoot them!!!! If that’s the case, and I don’t know, I need to be looking for another country to move to.

        • I agree with you fully Larry.. now another young man has been gunned down in the streets like a dog… by the police who I lost respect for from the brink.. Bey they are lucky that they weren’t in another place or they would have been slain for their stupidity.. It’s a good thing that his relatives were people who think rationally or else their full wrath would’ve been on this nation..

    • No Larry he was NOT armed
He was said to be a “SUSPECT” of some alleged crime..
I thought are rights as people and BAHAMIANS were that we are innocent until proven guilty?..
I have a question for most of you on here “jumping down my throat” because of my comment.. WERE ANY OF YOU THERE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED? WERE ANY OF YOU STANDING THERE AS MARCO’S BODY LAYED LIFELESSLY ON THE FLOOR FOR ALMOST 3 HOURS AND WAS THEN DRAGGED CARELESSLY BY POLICE AND AFTER HE WAS THROWN ON THE GURNEY WATCHED HIS LIFELESS BODY DROP TO THE FLOOR?
Some of yall realllyyyyyy need to wake up and realize what’s going on!

      • You are just running on with a bunch of non-sense! You are missing the Big Picture, yes you might have been there and the victim might have been a close friend of yours, but we can not act in this way, its unacceptable. Trying to justify this act is worst than the initial act itself. I dont want to be harsh but it is you who need to wake up and realize that this is only a small piece of a big picture!

      • Quite honestly good law abiding citizens are tired of being robbed, shot, stabbed, raped or killed. As much as I know some cops are pathetic excuses for human beings also, one has to respect their authority at least until one is no longer a suspect. The number of criminals living in these ghetto areas, both violent and non violent, is appalling. Communities need to do more about fighting the crime in their area, then less likely a police will ever set foot there. Where I live, I never see them. But then I dont sit around gambling which btw is illegal (unless its in your own home). Bain town, Kemp Road, Fox Hill, they all have reputations for a reason, they are nasty ghetto areas full of violent criminals, many of them being youth. You can try to sugar coat that fact all day and night but that is a fact. This is not to say this young man deserved to be shot, we dont know the whole story, and a life lost is a life lost. Government needs to allow the arming of good law abiding citizens so incidents like this dont happen or happen less, so that when someone DOES pull a gun they can pull one too and take the robber out right there and then, end of story.

        • you know what.. This is a well deserved **** You!! He was unarmed… And I pray that something like this strikes someone close to you so that you can know the feel.. Then maybe you won’t be on here **** and raven about shit you don’t know!!!!!!!!

          • and i pray that you end up in fox hill prison where your stink pathetic criminal boongy belongs, dumb ghetto rat.

  • help from who them please aint trying to hear that shit realize police doing all kind of **** this aint the first person or the second person who was killed by no police innocent people who the police killing these days why because they have gun and rights don’t do it please don’t do i want to no how your going to feel when the police kills someone in your family or someone who is close to you for nothing how are you going to feel i mean i aint giving the people all right but people is do things when they mad i watch that boy walk home laughing i is see him everyday now i’s going to stop all because of the police because they wanted something to damn do always messing with people for no reason the criminals who they need to be messing with walking bold on the streets and laughing because they to busy messing with he innocent people smft

  • DIS

So the solution to an “injustice” is to wreck havoc on YOUR OWN community?…..yup makes perfect sense to me.

  • my thing is coming from a person who live in bain town y’all have NO kind of rights to run on what y’all running on with making it seem like the police was in the right how the hell can you walk up in someone yard and take fire especially at an unarmed person my thing is they could have shoot him in the leg not his damn head how you expect the people to act marco was not a trouble person he don’t smoke and he don’t drink a good boy from bain town the police take down today and the people act out because he was shot for nothing and y’all aint expect the people to b mad i don’t feel bad for the police they lucky they aint get it worst then what they got today

    • Person of Bain Town – stop your crap. I am in Bain Town as well and the fact is the reaction of the few fighting and shooting at the police was not the answer. It puts us in a bad position and when we need police help or simply public support it might not come as people will see us all as thugs.

Your las comment tells me just what type of element you are in our community. Your view is not the general consensus of Bain Town.

Thank you Rev. Moss for your efforts even though it seems as if respect for the men of the cloth has gone the same route as respect for the law.

      • I understand exactly what “person of bain town” is saying. I have lived in the US for over thiry years now, but I went to government high before they moved it, my uncle and then my cousin lived in bain town. I still have friends and family in that neighborhood. I am glad that the police in the US are no longer allowed to shoot people that they are in pursuit of. I respect the difficulty that the police has enforcing the law in Nassau. I have a nephew on the police force. It was a shock for me to read the BP head line. BP is no better than the people filming the matter. Those were humans beings being human. The average person would stop and look if they see a incidence such as this going on. Are we not supposed to be concerned about what is happening in our neighborhoods? Why is it that poor black people are “just a bunch of niggas?” How would you feel if it was one of your relatives who was shot? Polices in the US are not even allowed to shoot a person in the leg. If they shoot, they are supposed to shoot to kill if they are in fear for their life; they are not allowed to shoot people because they don’t STOP! If you don’t have the stemina to perform the job, you need to find another one. A person could bleed to death if shot in the leg just as quickly if a main artery is hit. There should be procedures in place for taking down a suspect. Polices should not be using weapons to STOP! people.

    • Are you really that ignorant ‘person of bain town’?
How could you come here and even attempt to justify what was done by your community today? This is where we tend to go wrong, always finding excuses. Stop making excuses for these young men, there is always a right and wrong way to go about doing something. If you continue in your ignorance, both you and the other rest of people who support these actions, the Bahamas will be going no where but down hill from this point on.

    • Man you so sad. Violence only breeds violence. There are laws in this country, you people seem yto love to forget that fact. If one is broken you don’t fix it by breaking more!!!

    • thank you “person of bain town” he wasn’t a bad person.. He was rather cool… we use to play ball together on the salvation army park and shoot pool at the bar out front.. These people just like hearing one sided inaccurate news.. with they greesy mouth..

  • Dear Appalled Citizen:

Isn’t the young man caught in the Superwash robberies 18?

Weren’t the people shooting in th background AT the police young men of like age?

Aren’t the people running round laughing and cursing and filming (whom you live with) youn men as well?

What is your point? The law must be allowed to run it’s course – if citizens in a community react this way all the time – do they expect these same police to come into their community when the are under attack?

If I were a police I would leave you all to your own devices and then tag the bodies. How do you shoot them today and expect them to protect you tomorrow.

This is a disgrace – and what’s worse is that it is only a few terrorists – yes I called them terrorists – holding the community hostage. It needs to stop and we need to take our communities back.

  • when u help these police and immigration to rid of illegals they send them home and they come rite back what encouragement is that THE PEOPLE ARE TIRED!!!!

  • BP just keep reporting the news. i hope appalled citizen gets appalled at the thugs and criminals. last time i was there i was carjacked and slapped. the thug tried to take my car and bag. i wouldn’t give in. he slapped me hard. then a car came down and he ran away. never went back since. as broken bahamas said if the person was innocent, the police should be dealt with. but police dont go after and shoot some innocent person. and not without a person showing they ready to do some bodily harm to the officers. you’re not fooling me with “innocent boy.” i actually hope to God you’re not correct. but i do think you appalled at the wrong people. everyone here is reacting to how Bahamians are becoming so violent. not at the shooting. if it was a messed up shooting, attacking police solves NOTHING. it only get you in trouble.

  • media

Bain Town is now officially under police control and an action plan is now being devised to weed out the criminal elements. Police are hard on the job today following erupted violence in the community. BP has been told community activist and longstanding member the area, Rev. Dr. C B. Moss, was also ignored by resident…s today as they carried out their destruction of public property.

    • This is not so Rev. Moss did an excellent job and should be commended.

  • media

A BP NEWS ALERT: Bahamas Press can confirm the 19-year-old shot by police today was, Marco Greenslade, is a relative of COP Ellison Greenslade. Marco was shot in the back and in the head by a police reservist following a routine patrol in the area of Hospital Lane and King Street. Riot Squad had to be called in to quell the disturbance.

  • I’m so grateful I don’t live in this area.

I don’t support criminals, and I certainly don’t support criminals with badges. I watched ZNS tonight and it looked like CNN was filming in Nigeria or Port-au-Prince after rebels had taken over. I shook my head. This is so sad.

The guy filming has a dirty mouth. Instead of him going inside of his home he’s recording this bull$hit and laughing. There’s something so disturbing about this.

I support my police. After all, when someone holds me up, steals my car or shoots at me, I call the POLICE, not the niggas in Bain Town.

    • who cares where you live.. you could live in lyford cay it doesn’t matter.. crime is all about…

  • Appalled citizen good you got the other side out. But no one cares about his age. Whether he was 18 or 5. The children are the ones who are the worst today. They’ve terrorized me and others I know. So age is of no relevance. If he was truly innocent then the police who shot him should be arrested. If he’s not, which is more likely, then I stand behind my comment. People need to stop making excuses for crime and these rude boys. The excuses are up! I do not need to “do better.” You don’t know me. You have no idea what I do. Also what you say about the police firing make no sense. If the police were acting like jacka$$es and firing willy nilly, why on earth would anyone come out from safety and attack? At the end of all this, you still don’t attack police! If you saw the officer was wrong the whole town can go as witnesses and file a complaint and have him arrested for killing an innocent person.

    • I totally agree with you. I’m not giving these bad boys a pass. If the police officer is in the wrong then he should be punished. But, I’ve seen enough foolishness in the past year to know better. I’m sick of these young guys making life on this tiny island so bad. They have people living in fear. I’m sick of it.

I don’t care about his age either.

Burning up government property, destroying a ZNS van and attacking the police is a BIG NO NO. I will NEVER get behind that shit. The folks in Yellow Elder assaulted the media several weeks ago, too. These people better get their minds right.

    • because you’re tired… of the injustice because at the end of the day you’re fighting against the one sided law that is not their for all of the people of this bahama land.. just their for the rich or the persons that are politically connected… What about that mother whose without her child.. you people are just quick to judge.. so bias.. I do not believe in our law officers cause on too many occasions have they proven to be the ones that are at fault for many disasters going on.. And then you people defend them as if they are godz.. You are just as guilty.. We are amoung the only nation who don’t stand up for our people but are quick to except whatever is told to them as if we are just mere robots.. Bain Town people are just simply tired.. Tired of being lashed at from either the outside society who always have soo much to say and rarely know what they’re talking about, or from our unfair justice system.. smt.. when will you older generation wake up, and realise that it’s because of the fact that we don’t ever have you to support us is why our nation is going to a waste.. Whenever you decide to put faith and trust into our hands we would have a better nation…

  • WHEN WE THESE BAHAMIANS REALIZE THAT WHEN WE CLOSE OUR EYES ON CRIMES N DON’T DO WHAT IS RIGHT WE ONLY PUNISH OURSELVES CUZ WE ALLOW THESE PPL TO KEEP US IN FEAR, AS THEY CONTINUE TO DO WRONG… IF SOMEONE TAKES THE LIFE OF SOMEONE ELSE, I DON’T BELIEVE THEY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO LIFE IN JAIL… THEY SHOULD BE KILLED HANDS DOWN, CUZ UNLIKE THE PERSON WHO DIED, EVEN IF THEY LIVING A “HARD” LIFE IN JAIL, THEY HAVE BREATHE TO DO SO. WE ON THE OUT SIDE, WORKING HARD TO KEEP THEIR LIGHT ON IN JAIL, WORKING HARD TO FEED THEM 3 MEALS A DAY, WHEN U HAVE KIDS IN SCHOOL ON WELFEAR GETTING 1 MEAL IN SCHOOL N GOD KNOWS WHAT WHEN THEY GO HOME… BUT NO WE MUST KEEP THEM IN JAIL FOR A SHORT TERM FOR TAKING ANOTHER’S LIFE… N COME RIGHT BACK OUT TO DO THE SAME FOOL… I WISH THE BAHAMIAN NATION WILL WAKE UP N STOP LIVING AS SCARY FOOLS… CUZ WHEN IT’S THEIR FAMILY MEMBER GUN DOWN BY SOMEONE IN THE NEIGHBOUR THEY WANT EVERYONE TO SPEAK UP, BUT CAN’T SPEAK UP FOR NO ONE ELSE… THIS COUNTRY IS GONE IT’S TOO LATE… I JUST WISH SOME OF THESE JUDGES WILL DO WHAT IS RIGHT AS WELL… N SENTENCE A MAN TO DEATH IF HE CAUSES DEATH… A LIFE FOR A LIFE… THIS GOVERNMENT WANT ADAPT CERTAIN THINGS FROM THE UNTIED STATES… WELL FLIPPING ADAPT THE DEATH PENALTY…STOP LIVING WITH 2 MOUTHS, N CLEAN UP THIS SO CALL CHRISTIAN NATION.

  • I don’t see how a community could carry on like this… one day they fighting amounts themselves n asking for the police help… then when the police take on a matter or situations without being called on, just doing a check in the community n see something n act on it, it’s a problem… as far as i see it n always have… if u have no need to run from the police in the first place then don’t run. But when u run away from the law, it must mean that u are of something u een pose to be doing. N now they turn on the police… the community just as bad for the acts of 1 person, cause like they said years ago, it takes a village.. ie a community to raise a chal, so if ur doing something wrong n i as ya neighbour don’t say anything about it im just as bad as u are… so as for this… the community of bain town can do as much as they want to one another… n cry bout it later… when they call kill themselves that’s what area of crime the rest of the bahamas has to worry about.

    • If the police would stop harassing the people then you wouldn’t mind raising a child.. Take off your blindfold and realise that police harassement and brutality exist.. Do you know the whole story..? Where you there to give account..? So just how you sitting behind ya tv screen lookin beyond and making comments on things that you don’t know about.. please take into account that everything that you watch on tv isn’t always what the police say they are..

    • i agree with ya GONE TO THE DAWGS so tru like i said earlier if you are not in the police shoes and dont know wjat is happening then its best you dont say anything period.

  • I AM APPALLED BY THIS POST! I am trying to figure out why only one side of this story is being posted??!! Coming from someone who lives across the street from where this “incident” took place . HOW IN THE WORLD can you call the people of Bain Town “thugs and criminals” when a innocent 18 year old boy was shot down in the head and left dead by the POLICE? and you expect the people not to react? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Can’t be! Now I do give the people wrong for destroying government property BUT the police LOVE to shout ” oh we are your friends and we are here to protect you”, how the hell can you protect us when you are the main ones going around CARELESSLY murdering citizens? If im not mistaken the police were the ones in Bain Town firing shots without a care.. Stray bullets kill to ya know.. and what if someone else was shot, then what? This is not the first nor second not even third time some trigger happy police officer has shot and killed someone and nothing has come from it.. this is the kind of shit that you people on these Websites need to be addressing NOT the fact that the tired mistreated citizens finally decided to take matters into their own hands!! I AM APPALLED AND SICKENED BY THIS POST! YOU ALL ARE THE ONES THAT NEED TO DO BETTER!!

PS BAHAMAS PRESS: Who gave you permission to post this video seeing that i live in the same person who recorded it?. hmmmm

    • This is why this country is the way it is now, for people like you who see the wrong that they do and turn a blind eye just waiting to point a finger at someone else. If you are stopped by a law enforcement officer (whether wrong or right) stop control yourself and act like an adult dont carry on like a suspect – remember a guilty man pleath what no man pursuit it – so if he was really innocent the situation would not have resulted like such. You are no different from the person who filmed this incident making bad remarks that I am sure little children who were watching and listening would adopt because of you few lawless people. If you cannot obey the law and respect officers who is to say that this country is going to get any better no matter how much the government and other concerned Bahamians try. Learn respect so that we can pass it on I am so ashamed of you people bringing disgrace to the Bain Town community… When are you people going act like you have sense and make a better life for our Bahamian children I cry shame on you… ignorance is really bliss…
      Concerned and Disgusted Bahamian

      • Mr. have you ever been harassed by a police officer, well i have and i’ll tell you it is not a welcoming experience. I feel sorry for the folks being victims in their own neighborhood. The way some of the policemen treat citizens in Bain town is ridiculous. You said and i quote” so if he was really innocent the situation would not have resulted like such.” Mr please wake up, you have just given a golden medal to a police reserve that isn’t suppose to have a fire arm in his or her possession. The biggest thugs are on the police force. Obeying the law is one thing but treating people like animals is another. How many times do you hear about policemen going into Bain town and starting problems, but no one wants to talk about that , nobody is saying nothing about young men from Bain Town being beat with in a inch of their life with a night stick. This type of news that doesn’t make the paper or circulates in the media. Seeing that you know so much about Bain town maybe you should get off your high horse and go into to the community and find out what really happened before you post bro. The Bain town community has suffered brutal attacks from officers for years, the community is tired of the unprofessional behavior and none existent professionalism displayed by the so called law enforcers. Yes ignorance is bliss!!!!!

    • Im tired of people defending criminals! Thats whats wrong with our country.Wrong is wrong, right is right and procedure is procedure. I wont lie and say I fully support every police decision but I bet the suspect put himself in the position where it resulted in a gun battle. You could my dear could of been on top of the building with a hi def video camera and because of how blind you seem to be you wouldnt be able to see the true story of what happened here.

By the way I’m so proud of you dedicating your life to spending every single minute watching this young man that was killed so that you could say with such certainty that he was innocent. Still I am sorry for the loss of life but we really need to do better.

    • wow

It is amazing to see how negative u talk about police being trigger happy. if you were not there dont be so quick to judge pls. Until you are in the police shoes you wont under stand. if the suspect had a gun and killed a officer wud you be saying the same thing, NO.
      so pls stop talking shit.

    • First of all its sad that a young man lost his life. But it is very stupid when bahamians’ hear of a fight or riot goin down they think that they should stick around to see what is going on. I watch the video and to see the people runing to see what was happening and hearing the shouts and laughter at the police is disturbing and silly. We as bahamians need to act like adults and stop acting like fools. And that means walking away.

      • i was there an it was sad…to see young people just out of control..my god that was a sad day..family members lost a love our country lost the respect we love for each..omg pray is needed for our young kids..parents pray an cover your children with the blood of christ..we are lossing ur children to the devil

    • I aggree with you fully.. It is also disturbing the fact that no one on this blog ever took the time out to learn what actually happened, just quick to insult Bain Town people whiles giving the police a nice tap on the back.. It is because of these ignorant young stupid police that are too trigger happy that this young man is dead.. Then someone had the friggin’ audacity to applaud the police also for his murder.. Most of the drug ran through the streets are placed there by crooked cops.. Until it’s someone you’ll know the people of the community are always wrong.. We do not live in a perfect world, so wake the hell up and sniff the coffee.. Let it have been your son wrongfully killed.. Then lets see how you would’ve felt.. But until then, you shouldn’t rant on about what you know nothing about.. I happen to play pool in Bain Town almost on a daily bases and have a lot of relatives around there..

      • And on top of that “WOW” I happen to know this young man very well.. And this aint da damn funeral home and I aint writin no friggin obituary so I have no reason to lie.. But he was a great guy.. And on top of that he was HUMAN!! So unless you know something.. Sit small and shut ya ass up…!! And I just happened to be playing pool by a near by bar.. And yes I was there.. And I do happen to know the camera.. And believe it or not regardless of what you might think about Bain Town people as ghetto as you make them seems.. Many of the best people came from out of Bain Town.. Take into account, Miles Munroe world renown pastor, Roscoe Perpall airtraffic controller and the president of their union.. I feel sorry for you small minded people.. Alwayz ready to call someone a criminal like ya box so damn clean.. Alwayz remember that most of you have kidz… And when or if it happens to some relative of yours you’ll be the ones that are in my seat defending an INNOCENT f*%kin person!! Whiles those ignorant persons call him/her a criminal..

      • media

I would also say no one waited to learn as to what the officer discharging the gun faced when opening fire. We all can conclude innocence, but ya never know. That is for a Coroner’s Court to decide. Outside that BP’s job is to report.

        bp

    • I do thank you for standing up for our baintown ppl and i agree with you 100% plain and simple there aint gonna be nothing coming out of this case because the area name is Baintown and considered to be a thug zone or w/e they wanna call it and these officers gets away with tooo many things they have all kinds of murderers out there number 1 hitman Dye and they do nothing with him because they fear for their lives if they mess with him they have all of his adDress but do you see them trying to keep him jailed noooo they cant even talk harsh to this dude because they are weak and lame and until it happens to their own aint shyt gonna happen we Bahamians need to open our eyes and come to a realisation that these politicians dont care about us they only care about themselves they gonna come round ask you to vote but Baintown forever looks the same, nassau st the same and almost everywhere is the same change is never gonna come and if we dont try and stand up for ourselves things like what take place yesterday is gonna continue to happen remember this UNTIED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL.

    • you cant be appaled because although you live right across the street you dont know shit you dont know what was the reason he was shot stop cloaking if you dont know nothing shut your damn mouth the police are there to protect life and property the poor little 18 year old you speak about could have been armed but the public only speaks about what they think they know. not everything that the police does shoul be diclosed to the public you also mention that this is not the 1st 2nd nor 3rd time and nothing was done, why do u think MR. APPAULED CITIZEN the officers were justified by there actions so again if you dont know the fact if you were not there to see exactly what happen behind the scene its best you shut you mouth. speaking about a person about something you dont know about is considered to be libel which is also an offence so instead of you speak about what the police ios doing you need to help them bring the violence and the illegal activities to a stop bain town is a gang area and everyone knows this if you are not willing to help and stop the negativity shut your mouth and thats my $1.50.

    • I totally agree with the APPALLED Citizen! Gun’s don’t kill people, people kill people.. Until we learn as people that violence is not the answer people will keep doing what there doing. When you give respect, you will get respect people.
The government is sitting back doing nothing but spending up the money on there family’s and not working on making things better for the little people that are struggling to feed there family.. WOW! when is the Violence going to stop people?

    • Obviously appalled citizen, you are just as friggin ignoranat as the people you live with! You are such a typical member of a community where someone you knew was gunned down. He would not have been shot just for gambling as you are trying to make everyone think he was and just for clarification,,,,,,,the last time i checked Gambling was illegal. But it is obvious you are one who tends to look the other way when your friends are breaking the law and would say any garbage to make the law look like the bad people. Even if the police had killed him like you are claiming then there is a process. It doesn’t give YOU or anyone else in that lowlife community the right to attack the police, hit them with rocks and not expect a backlash. The very same vehicles yall burn down are the same ones that your community needs to come to your assistance for your complaints. Now the expense is put on everyone else to find the money to replace them when things already rough and people losing their jobs and you wonder why the government can’t find money to keep people employed…………..cause of stupid acts such as these. But just so you know, he did have a loaded 9mm and it was recovered on the scene and I’m glad that one less armed robber/gun toting fool is off the streets. One less asshole we have to worry about in this community and I used to live roun’ there and I know him personally so please don’t try to make him out to be a saint cause you and I and everyone round there know that he was far from innocent…………tell the truth and shame the devil!

  • I FIND IT SAD THAT THE PERSON WHO IS FILMING THIS VIDEO AND HIS CREW ARE LAUGHING LIKE THE MATTER IS FUNNY…..THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY AND ITS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE AS THE XMAS SEASON APPROACHES…WHILE U WEEP FOR THE ISLAND IMA PRAY FOR MY HOMETOWN

    • I too found the laughter and profanity most disturbing. THIS IS NOT A FUNNY MATTER!

      • I agree the person who filmed this video is just as stupid as those person’s who are running into gun fire. This country is out of control my God help this broken land.

  • I FIND IT SAD THAT THE PERSON WHO IS FILMING THIS VIDEO AND HIS CREW ARE LAUGHING LIKE THE MATTER IS FUNNY…..THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY AND ITS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE AS THE XMAS SEASON APPROACHES…WHILE U WEEP FOR THE ISLAND IMA PRAY FOR MY HOME

    • likewise concerned citizen. as i watched the video i was disgusted that the people laugh while the police are being shot at. trying to apprehend the criminal and stop the outrage from growing can you imagine another person being killed in the crossfire. i wouldnt even want to think what will happen. the people in this little island have no respect for the authoritys. while you pray for your home pray for others concerned citizen we all need it thank you.love you i feel your pain.

  • It seems like this is a repeat of bank lane incident? So correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems like they’re angry at the suspect criminal being killed?????
What are people coming to? How can you attack police officers? Who can a criminal fear now since they do not fear the law? Rioting, destroying, trying to hurt officers when they’re ANGRY. All this boils down to anger. Our little island is out control. Broken Bahamas! I weep for this island!

    • I have yet to fully understand what transpired in its entirety, but one thing is clear…the level of stupidity of some Bahamian people is still startling to this day. If you watch the clip there are people standing in the road, trying to get closer as gun shots are ringing off…people laughing, people cussing, people rooting for police officers to be injured. Most of these were the young people. Yes, the force carries a negative stigma from time to time…but the very people you wish harm upon are the very people you run to call when someone has done you wrong, stolen from you, robbed you…if the police can’t restore law and order, and we keep rooting on the criminals because they presently seem like the “lesser of two evils”, who do you call when the criminals turn on you?

      • the thing is we are a people workin with the wrong blue print, or the wrong plan. these are the symptoms of fathers neglecting their children and not educating them and training them to be productive citizens. this was horrible to watch we have to educate our people and families have to step up

    • I agree i think the Bahamian people are gone past reachable hands. We as the citizens of this country have to realize that God is a God of order. The law is here to maintain that order. If there’s no respect for the law who will you respect. Only in the Bahamas. No where else can you undermine the authority of officers and live to tell the tale. These children running up and down screaming cursing one beating, but burst them up. Prime example of lacked discipline. If this country wants a lawless country they have yet to see the disasters of chaotic minds. We wont be able to fathom have the violence that would take place. Bahamians needs to wake up and catch sense this is not cute as a matter of fact its degrading and i’m embarrassed. Good thing i’m not an officer everyone was getting lock up just for being silly enough to stand around watching as if bullets have eyes and stray bullets were never heard of.

      • The Riot Act covers The Commissioner/Police under these circumstances. Why didnt they use it? Hmm! Do they realise this?

    • BROKEN BAHAMAS I AGREE WITH YOU THE PEOPLE ARE MAD WHEN THE CRIMINALS ARE KILLED, I FEEL AS IF THEY THINK THAT THAT THE POLICE NEEDS TO BE KILLED OR PUT AWAY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO PROTECTS THIS LAND WHEN EVERY ONE IS HOME SLEEPING. HOW CAN YOU DISPISE THE ONES WHO MAIN YOU WELL AND WOULD LAY DOWN THERE LIVES TO PROTECT YOU AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE SAFE ALL OF THE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS THAT POLICE OFFICERS ENDURE, WHEN THEY HAVE TO LEAVE THERE FAMILYS AT HOME TO DEAL WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD EVERYTIME THEY STEP OUT SIDE IN OR OUT OF UNIFORM THEY DONT KNOW IF THEY WILL EVER SEE THERE WIFE HUSBAND OR CHILDREN ANYMORE. THE PEOPLE OF THE BAHAMAS DOES NOT RELIZE HOW MUCH POLICE OFFICER SHOULD BE RESPECTED, BUT WHEN THE CRIMINALS GET MORE RESPECT THAN THE CRIMINALS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF THE POLICE. THE CRIMINLAS TRY TO BRING DOWN OUR LITTLE NATION WITH THE DRUGS THE FIREARMS AND THE VIOLENCE WHEN OUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON THE TOURISM E=INDUSTRY TO SURVIE THE PEOPLE OF THE BAHAMAS NEEDS TO WAKE UP AND HELP THE POLICE RESPECT THE POLICE IT ALL STARTS FROM THE POLICE HELP THEM PUT AWAY THE PEOPLE WHO ARE BRINGING DOWN THIS NATION. UNTIL THIS CAN HAPPEN THE BAHAMAS IS LOST NO MORE THAN A NEEDLE IN OUTERSPACE NOT EVEN A HAYSTACK. WE NEED SERIOUS PRAYERS AND HELP BAHAMAS WAKE UP……………

      • DEAR WRITER. THIS SITUATION REMINDS ME OF HOW JESUS WAS TREATED!ONE THING I TERRIBLY DISAGREE WITH, IS WHEN OFFICERS ARE ON DUTY, THEIR BEHAVIOUR IS THE SAME AS WHEN THEY ARE WITH THEIR BUDDIES! THERE IS VERY LITTLE STANDARD AND THEY DON’T CARRY THEMSELVES WITH RESPECT THATS WHY RESPECT ISN’T COMING BACK TO THEM!ON THE OTHE HAND, THE COURT SYSTEM! MURDERS ON BAIL! PLEASE TELL ME WHATS UP WITH THAT? OUR COURT SYSTEM IS JACKED UP!WHILE ON ONE HAND, THE POLICE IS WORKING, DOING THEIR JOB, PERSONS ARE PUT BEFORE THE COURTS AND ONLY GOD KNOWS WHAT HAPPEN AFTER THAT! MY PRAYERS ARE WITH U OFFICERS..
        1.2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

  • Yeah well. We aint serious in this country. Until parents teach their children right from wrong, until neighbours stop watching crime happen and not report it, until the police force weeds out the bad apples, until swift justice means swift justice, until the courts stop giving murderers bail like it was candy, until the government enforce the laws on the books, we aint serious.

    • Ok first off that little boy had no gun if you were there then you can make all necessary statements i was there from start to finish those boys were playing a game of dice the officer made a patrol asking them to stop playing and if they dont stop they would come back and kill one of them the young boy that died never drink nor smoke yesterday there were a lot of old persons that spoke on that young boys behalf that he was never a problem child which was the reason y the community reacted out with the officers when we went on the scene there were three officers my dad and myself the body of that boy lying there running for his life and no gun was never taken from him but hey dead man cant talk that boy died innocently

      • stop lying. you know you lying monique. i was there too. and ask he ma if he is smoke. if he so good why he on bail?

    • mrs. patrice i agree with you. you see the criminals are also studying the police and studying the system and when they have been to prison before and the prison officers allow them to have cell phones and smoke in the cell and do whatever they want and get whatever they desire the criminals tend to get relax and thats where cange needs to be stricken. but justice needs to prevail and i cant say it no better than what you have said. and my main concern is the parents it all starts from home be there for your kids teach them right from wrong beat them punish them talk to them when neccesary everything doesnt call for harsh treatment but change starts from the home STOP CLOAKING YOUR CHILDREN WHEN YOU KNOW THAT THEY ARE WRONG YOU PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGING THESE BEHAVIOURS.stop it while there under your roof dicipline for the betterment of our country and our nation.

    • You hit it right on the head Patrice!

      • YOU DONE KILL SOMEOEN FOR ASSAUKTING AN OFFICER THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OF DEALING WITH THAT AND EXCESSIVE FORCE IS NOT ONE OF THEM..ARREST AND TAKE HIM IN…BAHAMIAN POLICE MEN SEEMED TO BE BULLY WHEN IT COMES TO THEIR OWN FELLOW CITIZENS…IF CRIMES ARE BEING COMMITTED FIND A BETTER WAY TO SOLVE THEM AND STOP PAINTING YOUNG BLACK MALE WITH THE GUILTY BRUSH EVEN BEFORE THEY ARE GIVEN A CHANCE TO BE TAKEN THROUGH THE LEGAL SYSTEM…IF THE LAWS ARE BROKEN AND INEFFICIENT LOOK TO THE POLITICIANS ..THEY ARE TEH ONES WHO FAILING US NOT THE POOOR AND MISGUIDED YOUNG MALE GROWNING UP IN POORLY SOCIALIZED NEIGHBOURHOODS.

        • media

NO NO NO you don’t agree with shooting randomly or without warning ya. But if I was a police and you draw your weapon on me, TRUST ME, my words to ya Council23 is this: SAY YA PRAYERS, cause I ga aim for the head!

          BP

  • BP I am so happy that you made this statement in support of the Police. Too often, the media serves as a cheering squad for the criminals while attacking and criticizing the Police. They are not perfect but if we are to regain control of our Country we must spport them.

    • concerned mama i agree with your statement we need change the public needs to help the police nobody knows what the police has to deal with, they are people as well with regular familys, they also have wife and children i belive that it was another reason why that officer shot that man. the people and the press whon is no much better than the public heard that the officer shot him and all he was doing was gambling you and i knpow much better than that. he wont shoot that man unless his life or another was placed in jeapordy. not with the police officer knowing the consequences if he shot someone for no reason. mr. greenslade needs to put things in place to put fear in these lawless bahamian who think that they can do what ever they like look at this way. when tourist see what is happening in nassau do you think they will want to visit a lawless country then out main source of bread and butter will be lost, so all of you concern bahamians out there lets help the police make our country a better one. no matter if that person engaing in illegal activities is your son father cousin whatever it has to be done for the future of our country and the future of our children.

    • POLICE CAN’T BE JUDGE, JURY AND EXECUTIONER, THERE IS A COURT PROCESS, THESE ARE HUMAN BEINGS AND NOT ANIALS, I UNDERSTAND THAT POLICE SHIT THE YOUNG MAN WHILE HE TRY TO FLEE A GAMBLING GAME, THERE OUGHT TO BE REAL JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTRY OR ELSE PEOPLE WILL TAKE JUSTICE UNTO THEMSELVES, DEAL WITH THAT BLACK OFFICER…I DID NOT HEAR THEM SHOOT AT THE BAREFOOT BANDIT WHO SHOOT AT POLICE IN ATTEMPTING TO ESCAPE THEM NOR THEONES WHO FOUGHT , ASSAULTED AND BATTERED OFFICERS IN A CLUB BROWL OUT WEST OR EAST…BUT A BLACK BROTHER THEY COULD JUST SHOOT FOR FLEEING A GAMBLING GAME? EVEN IF HE HAD A WEAPON HE WAS FLEEING FOR GOD SAKE!!!JUSTICE MUST BE DONE AND MUST BE SEEN TO BE DONE!!!
