FNMS to Breakaway and join Branville in a move to form the Coalition of the Willing

Nassau, Bahamas — There is shattering news emanating from inside the walls of the Free National Movement tonight and from what we know, things are getting ‘wassa’ as the days progress for PAPA’s RED army.

Reports coming from persons in the position to know have confirmed to BP, some TEN [10] FNM insiders [KEY PLAYERS] shall leave the Party to follow Branville.

The group set to make their exit we are told, shall come out of the Party and leave PAPA and the circus of clowns in their dingy red; leaving the organization weaker than expected for the next general elections.

The move will further add momentum to the PLP.

We can confirm Branville McCartney will lead from the floor of Parliament “The Coalition of the Willing’ against the FNM! The movement by the group we are told will crush the Party’s support and spell trouble for Papa’s!

Sources in the Party’s apparatchik tell us, a national call to form the group will come this Tuesday March 29th, when the new leader shall chair a meeting welcoming those ‘Cecilites’ from the FNM to join the Coalition.

We are told women who resigned from Grand Bahama FNM Women’s Association last year may join the group forming almost instant army against Hubert Ingraham.

We can confirm South Abaco hopeful, Roscoe Thompson III, is expected to represent the new organization in South Abaco in the next general election. Thompson, a longtime Party Officer and son of Sir Durward Knowles, expressed his disappointment in the Ingraham Government as he also tendered his resignation from the Party last year.

Any three-way race in any constituency will destroy any chance of papa’s return to power. “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad!”

Altec, I agree with you 100% on this one!

    • Bria

Well, well, well, once it’s not one of those who voted with the PM for privatization; if so, then I will not be supporting Branville McCartney. Probably won’t vote at all. We Bahamians still don’t have any say so what do we have to lose by not voting! We have a PM who refuses to even listen to what the people are saying, despite him still going with his decision.

  • If the president of Egypt could fall from power in some 13 days, why is it not practical for Bran to mount an effective party, in eight or less months?

    • To different situations. Egypt is an all out dictatorship. The people doenst have a choice. In the Bahamas, we get to choose our dictator every 5 yrs!

  • Mr McCartney, thats a big move you are making I support it. But please dont be like that other party who quit after one election and went runnin to who ever would take them.Stand by your mandate and see it through.

  • To all the Bran naysayers in Papa’s FNM and Christie’s PLP who think that there is not enough time for Bran to mount an effective political party, leading up to the general elections, let me remind you all that the US government with all their billions and slate of spies and experts were blindsided to how quickly a handful of citizens who are just fed up with the status quo, has forever changed North Africa and the Middle East? Didn’t Egypt’s president fall in less than 21 days? My friends it is not up Ingraham or Christie to decide what the people will do. They already know the people have had enough of their comparing notes as to who is the best prime minister, while more parents have to tell their children that there is no more money to pay our rent, mortgage and car payments. Bran is the worst case of toe jam that can make winning much more difficult for the two leaders, who are both much to stubborn to put their own Party’s interest ahead of their own?

  • THE PLP WOULD BE NOTHING SHORT OF FOOLISH NOT TO EXTEND TO BRANVILLE THE SAME POLITICAL CONSIDERATIONS OFFERED TO WELLS AND DUPUCH IN THE PAST. BRANVILLE IS “A TYPE” OF CHANGE AGENT THAT OUR POLITICAL PROCESS IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF.

FRANKLY, “THE MOMENT” BELONGS TO THE OTHER CONSTITUENCIES BUT “THE FUTURE” (WHAT KIND OF POLITICS DO WE WANT GOING FORWARD – MORE OF THE SAME BLIND LOYALTY REGARDLESS NONSENSE, OR A MEETING IN THE MIDDLE WITH THE COMMON GOAL OF TRASHING OUT THE BEST IDEAS FOR THE NATIONAL GOOD) IS IN THE HANDS OF BAMBOO TOWN.

REMEMBER, EVEN UNDER THE CRUEL SOCIAL POLICIES OF FLAGRANT ECONOMIC INEQUALITY, DISALLOWANCES TO GO CERTAIN PLACES, DENIAL OF EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT, DISALLOWANCES TO LIVE IN CERTAIN PLACES AND DISALLOWANCES TO WORK IN CERTAIN PLACES, THE UNITED BAHAMIAN PARTY (UBP) STILL HAD A STRONG FOLLOWING AND SUPPORT BY BLACKS. YOU SAY TO YOURSELF … HOW.. HOW COULD ANYONE EMBRACE SUCH HATRED DIRECTED AT THEM AND VOTE FOR MORE OF IT IF GIVEN A CHOICE? ANSWER: BAHAMIANS, BLACK BAHAMIANS. THE SELF-HATE OF A NIGGAR IS ONLY EXCEEDED BY HIS HATRED OF ANOTHER BLACK MAN.

  • History may be repeating itself here. The FNM was formed from a breakaway group of PLP’s.

  • @ Phillippa Lady Russell

Just another point to indicate how hopelessly foolish the FNM were in accepting the terms of sale “negotiated” with C&W –

According to Hubert Ingraham the buyer (C&W) was extended a 3 years exclusivity over the cell phone service to ensure that 30% of BTC’s staff was not terminated immediately. Ingraham claims that he did this to save jobs.

    (1) Okay, but why allow the buyer to immediately table “voluntary” disengagement offers (from day 1) if this is so. This counteracts the purpose behind the exclusivity offer.

Suppose 20% of staff agree to the voluntary disengagement offer immediately, then does C&W still retain the 3 years extension over the cell phone segment of the market (answer: YES).

    (2) Common sense tells me that the exclusive period should have been “reflective of the down sizing goal” so that whatever percentage of the goal is achieved within the time frame is deducted from the 3 years time. Put another way (for FNMs posters who can’t see past their love affair with Papa – who does no wrong in their eyes), every 10% of the staff disengaged should result in 1 year reduced from the exclusive period.

Remember, their goal (C&W) was to reduce head count by 30%, so this “stupid” government should have countered with “terms” that “floats and resets” according to their accomplishments. As they cut into the 30% goal – they cut away from the 3 years exclusive period.

    (3) As it is now, if they get a 20% reduction OF STAFF in April 2011, they still have 3 years of exclusive rights to sell cellular services thanks to Ingraham and the boys.

We need smarter people at the table.

    • @STORM

I note with interest your response to “Phillippa Lady Russell” and just wanted to point out that I have changed my ID to simply “Lady Russell” and secondly, I expressed no opinion on this Thread.

It is pretty annoying to experience the disrespect and envy of those who are unable to express any original creative thoughts of their own, pretending to be me!

Recognizing that this present light affliction will soon pass, my focused perspective is unmoved, as I learned long ago that the leaning posture of my enemy is a clear indication that he is suffering from GAS and that white saliva residue in the corners of his mouth, is a sure sign of HUNGER!

  • Papa isn’t anybody’s fool, he and his cabinet are quite aware of a real potential threat to their grip on power with a new political party contesting the upcoming general elections. You saw Papa’s election strategy over the way he handled any opposition to his personally championed sale of BTC, to compare his government against the former track record of a PLP government. Both leaders have had only one strategy all along, to attack the record of each other in government. Bran is like a bad case of toe jam for both the present and former prime minister’s

  • This will not happen. Rest yourselves.

    • media

Don’t be in deniel, it is happening right now. NEXT EVENT IS TUESDAY 29th of March., Standby!

You can bury your head in the sands of time and say a million times BP lied! We report yinner decide!

      BP

  • Roscoe Thompson must be mad as hell that BP is telling lies on his name that the FNM ladies of Grand Bahama.

BP makes up all of these lies in his head and put them forth. Now BP can you tell us about the Upsets PLPs including BBB and Mudda Pratt for the fact that PC threw them under the bus.

    • media

Serious lets get serious. STAY FOCUS! The topic here is about Braville MCCartney and the FNM NOT THE PLP! That’s the problem with some a yinner; you cannot see beyond the PLP!

Roscoe is online isn’t he? He is acessable via face book. If you don’t believe what we said, go to him and ask him directly you will get an answer. Better still, I invite the grandson of Sir Duward, Roscoe Thompson III, of South Abaco to stand in this place [BP] and refute our claims as reported here. END OF STORY! If he denies it to be true and correct: that he is meeting with the MP for Bamboo Town, then BP with withdraw this article and apologise publically!

      Bahamas Press/Editor

  • I do not think the PLP win run anyone against Bran, it makes them look good in the public’s eye not to, the PM needs to worry about his own seat, and not Bamboo Town, the FNM will go down i flames this election, this will be 2002 all over again, there were not and won’t be enough jobs created that can pay the type of money to make up for the taxes that were dumped on the backs of the Bahamian people, there is to much heartlessness, incompetence, secrecy, back room dealings, I could go on all day, but mostly there is a lack of TRUST in this government, the Bahamian people are quiet and when they are quiet the governing party has to worry, you can’t pay them enough not to get rid of you, either the PLP will win this election or a 3rg Party with the cash to back them up will split the seats and form a coalition government, with the PLP or FNM without HAI, that’s my prediction, I a wait the results, whatever Bran does it’s on him and I agree with LADY, his moves are well thought out, whether they are right or wrong, they are thought out in advance.

    • media

You don’t think Awaken? Then wait and see 41 candidates will be put forward by the PLP in the upcoming elections.

      BP

      • Yes, PLP will field 41 candidates, no deals this time around.

  • bran has leadership skills but i dont think he can win with the two big partys out there. i say join the plp as deputy leader and leader after five yrs than he will win and be in the house to groom for the next plp leader this where he can eat into the plp supporters as well. if he run he wont get much of the plp base right now.

    • You don’t join as deputy leader. You run for it at Convention, and if he came to the PLP and ran for deputy leader at Convention, he would be opposed by more than one.

      • @STORM

It is such a rare pleasure and privilege to engage a Bahamian mind of such depth and breadth, that I will ignore the Bumba-flies attacking my posts and seek your comments on recent events.

On this beautiful Sunday evening, it is well with my soul! As I am confident that the collective undaunted will and indomitable spirit of the Bahamian peuple will not be contained and BTC will be restored to its rightful ownership!

I firmly believe that we will form a Coalition of The Willing and march under one banner to reclaim our right as first class citizens in the land of our birth.

On the subject of Branville McCartney, I can only say at this time that his bold resignation from the compromised FNM, speaks well to the fine qualites and character his parents inculcated during his formative years. Hats off to the McCartneys!

The way foward, however, will not be so clear and smooth. It will be fraught with the dangers of many treacherous shoals. The murky nature of Bahamian life, so intertwinrd with politics, reveals that even the position of street-sweeper is a gift, resulting from political patronage. This sad reality has dwarfed the development of true political idealogy, rather promoting self-serving associations of persons from diverse political philosophies, based on the operative question: “what’s in it for me?”

Branville McCartney’s closing remarks in the House of Assembly last week contained quotes from “Father of the nation”, the late Sir Lynden Pindling, which suggests that McCartney fully understands the times and the true position of the Bahamian people, who have found themselves after 40 plus years of political freedom, in the deep throes of economic bondage.

What will Branville McCartney do? Is the question being asked by many Bahamians who wish an instant deliverance from the present oppression. However urgent the pleas of our people, I trust that Branville McCartney will be instructed by the 2008 example of one Barack Obama, whose meteoric rise to national prominence in American politics, while a direct response to an urgent need for CHANGE, only resulted in his achieving the office of Presidency, once enjoined by the superior organizational efforts of the Democratic Party’s macchinery.

I await your response, as your comments will determine if we need to examine McCartney’s options any further, at this time.

        Regards,

        LR***

        • Hey STORM, where are you. Sen. Jerome Fritzgerald is kickin’ butt in the Senate, are you tuned-in?

  • The Bahamian people are tired of the selfish display among the political elite. It is no surprice that Branville McCartney is making an attempt to upset the status quo. I can’t wait for the elections.

When the government/political leaders grow-up only then will our country fully mature as a model for success and opportunity for all.

    God bless the Bahamas Man!

  • If this is true, then its silly.

They should have voted with Branville one time and make a true statement. Why would he want 10 ppl who couldn’t vote with him and make a real change, but wait for them to vote and then leave.

Either they’re real jellybacks or he’s real stupid or a combination of both or this is untrue.

    • media

We never said they were MPs we said they were key persons inside the FNM.

      BP

      • @media…I stand corrected. Point taken.

    • The sale of BTC could not be stopped. Imagine being paid to do something years ago and trying to back out at the last minute. That would put your life at stake. That’s just an example of what was faced had this deal not been passed.

As for the Breakaway, I say it’s better late than never!

  • Wells…Dupuch…Allen…now Branville. Branville made a big mistake going against PM Ingraham. Trust me Bran will be seatless after the next election if the PLP runs a canidate in Bamboo Town.

  • Branville can not start a new party right now as there is no way he would be able to field any kind of slate of candidates or national campaign as its too close to an election for such processes to happen.

If he was going to start a party to contest the upcoming general elections, then he should have left the FNM months ago. You cant form a party, a platform, and vet candidates in a few months before an election is called.

His best bet, and in all likelihood, he is going to run as an independent now, try to maintain his seat and then after the elections form a new party.

After the FNM goes down in flames, he will probably have the ability to pick choose and refuse from the lot of disaffected FNMs who will probably take some interest in his party!

There is no need for him to rush to start anything. He has time on his side!

    • who is to say that plans had not been made and persons not selected prior to the announced decision? Watch his moves, and you will see that his actions are not the pure result of his emotions but rather they are well thought out.

    • When a business wants to make inroads in a particular market they sometimes buy a company that is already established in that market as opposed to starting from scratch. Similarly, Bran can beat accelerate his time line if he can attract politically established people from both major political parties.

      • Lady & Sgt Pepper, i have to disagree.

The PLP and FNM are in campaign mode and have been so for months… If Branville is going to start a new party or join up with one, the time to do that would have been last year and not months before an election is called.

Branville cant be PM unless his party wins a majority of seats in parliament. Which means he has to field at least 2o candidates besides himself and they all win.

With elections being called within the next 8 months, its unheard of to have a totally brand new party win an election in its first attempt. It wont happen.

If he forms or joins a new party right now and they get wiped out in the elections, his political viability would take a huge hit. He doesnt need that kind of political damage this early in his political career.

I dont care what Bran does, but i know one thing, forming or joining a party right now is not important. His focus should be on winning his seat and then pursue plans to form or join a party AFTER the elections.

Make no mistake, Papa has already said the FNM will win Branville’s seat and Papa will do his part by cutting those Bamboo Town boundaries tighter than tight and if the PLP runs somebody in that constituency, the race will be even tighter.

He looses nothing by staying put until after the elections. But to join up with a 3rd party or form his own at this time is a huge gamble that is not worth taking right now!

        • Bran is a joker, musse on dope….you cant want to be PM. people have to choose you…OK He come over as a vain moron, ego-asstic nut who is related to charles mason and Osama……I this would be worse that perry and HAI….I think he walks around with a life size mirror in front of himself and dont stop looking…what a vain fool……Bamboo Town will soon let him know the dream is over. people choose leaders not self ok Bran…you just dont have it. Lady Russell have my vote for PM you have it for asswhole of the Lent
Steve for governor. perry for playboy mate and Brave for Gotti, Evans for Palins double, and oh jenny for cookie monster……have a blessed day

        • Mr. Branville n
