An angry FNM is steaming over the government’s decision to grant a Canadian company the contract to clean the LPIA bathrooms

Inside the new state of the art LPIA facility.

Nassau, Bahamas – Sources deep in the Free National Movement have confirmed not one member of the organization has been given the opportunity to handle the cleaning contract at the new Sir Lynden Pindling Airport.

Speaking in absolute anonymity, the senior officer inside the FNM said it was shameful to discover that the FNM government chided it own members when it came to granting a contract to clean the bathrooms at LPIA.

“When I discovered that a contract existed to sterile the ‘terlets’ at LPIA, I leaped for the opportunity and made application for the contract. Since that application was made, I have yet to receive word on the contract. In fact, I never knew who was granted the contract until last week and to my amazement another foreign company was selected over Bahamians.”

BP has been reliably informed that the Government approved the services of a Vancover Canadian based company to clean the ‘terlets’ at LPIA.

“This is ‘vicked’ and is an act of betrayal to FNMs and the Bahamians people. You mean to tell me not even Frank Hanna could clean the bathrooms at the airport? This is shameful to see my party once again stooped to such lows in its treatment towards Bahamians. It is incidents like these that will trip the FNM down and send us into outer political darkness for a long time,” the FNM member said.

The decision is one of many where the FNM government has chosen foreign labour over Bahamians. They chose Chinese and Argentineans to build roads, Asians to build the country’s website, and appointed a Jamaican to prosecute Bahamians as DPP. And now a Canadian based company is selected to clean the lavatories at LPIA!

We wonder who will get the contract to clean the most expensive bathroom in the Caribbean located at Saunder’s Beach. The $270,000 facility is yet to be opened by the government.

Bahamians need not apply is the new mantra of the FNM!

  • DON

ONCE AGAIN THE GOVT STUCK A SWORD IN THE BACKS OF BAHAMIAN’S, PAY OFF’S ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN PUTTING IT’S OWN PEOPLE TO WORK.HUBERT YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED…

  • @ whodat…don’t be silly…who do you think cleans the bathrooms at Kerzner, Bahamar etc…BAHAMIANS…..the cleanliness of these bathrooms has more to do with management than nationalities….With proper management and training Bahamians are capable of doing ANYTHING!

  • Well if bahamians dont have any faith in bahamians to clean bathrooms then how do we expect the government to have faith in bahamians. Those incident with the dirty bathrooms cant be attributed to all bahamian cleaners so stop ya nonsense. It just that these government officals believe foreign workers are superior or they are getting all kinds of payoff for awarding contract to them or the lousy, lazy bahamians that doing the half step job and making the hard working bahamians look bad need to be fired and go sit on the blocks!!!!

  • Just returned back to Nassau yesterday. That airport was chaotic, like a 3rd world banana republic. long
immigration lines, hot, smelly bathrooms, baggage
belts not working, monitors to indicate where to get your bags not working…..$400million later and same
ole crap. Bahamians can manage our own airport!

  • I don’t quite understand why anyone becomes an operative for any party. The truth of the matter is that the government have 100 contracts to give out but have 5000 operatives hoping to get a contract. The math says it all.

  • BP, boy you is talk foolishness. This sentiment did not come from an FNM operative, just like most of your ramblings, this came from a caller to one of the talk shows, in this case Hardcopy. Do some real journalism for a change and stop printing every dumb conspiracy theory that someone puts out there.

Don’t read if you don’t believe. READ the tribune and stick to it.

      BP

  • Well, at least the bathrooms will be clean.

  • Bahamians should not be surprised at anything that happens at LPIA under NAD management. This pattern of behaviour has been displayed in every airport in which its parent company YVRAS operates.Even the PLP will admit that it was bullied into a management agreement which was patently not in the long term interest of the Bahamian people.NAD brought no money to the table but sold its management expertise which it has converted into huge salaries and benefits for its predominantly Canadian management team despite claiming that it cannot pay back the $50 million loaned to it from taxpayer funds. Also,NAD has still not put in place the very senior Bahamian managers which is obligated to do under its management agreement.Do not count on the FNM to correct this;the Airport Authority management which is overseeing this debacle totally agrees with what is happening.

  • lolo lolo when suspected PLPs were being fired left right and center those associated with the FNM thought it was funny failing to realise that when an oppressor has siated his venom on those opposite he will devour those nearest him as he goes about proving his point that all are fair game.Welcome to the real world and just remember that Oswald Brown was fired from the Nassau Guardian Freeport because he dared standup for Gladstone Moon McPhee who is another casualty of this uncaring Foreign National Govt,
