Nassau, Bahamas — Bahamas Press is reporting more trouble lies ahead for hotel workers  in the Cable Beach area as another major resort is set to close this summer.

According to a press statement privately sent to BP downsizing at a major hotel are also expected.

The statement read:Cable Beach Resorts announced today the temporary closure of the Wyndham Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace Casino, effective September 4, 2012, to October 17, 2012, while simultaneously offering an Early Retirement and Voluntary Separation Plan designed to give employees working at the Wyndham Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace Casino maximum control over personal career decisions as the resort prepares for a period of construction and reduced occupancy.

Under the Plan, which complies with all local laws, regulations and union guidelines, all full-time staff members have been offered a one-time, completely voluntary opportunity to end their employment with Cable Beach Resorts/Crystal Palace Casino and receive an attractive compensation package based on their position and length of employment. According to the Plan, Cable Beach Resorts employees working at the Wyndham Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace Casino have been given a four-week window during which to consider plan participation. Actual early retirement and separation dates will vary based on the employee and his or her role and function.  The Plan is non-discriminatory as to age, gender, position and length of employment, and Cable Beach Resorts maintains the right to accept or reject any individual application to participate.

For many employees, the Early Retirement and Voluntary Separation Plan offers an attractive incentive to pursue other plans. Resort management also encouraged staff to continue their education and training and re-apply for employment when opportunities open up in the future.
