Mike Sands and his entire team dethroned as President of the BAAAs in an Olympic Year! Rosemunde Campbell Carey is new BAAAs President
Nassau, Bahamas — Breaking News coming into Bahamas Press confirms Mike “Superman” Sands has been dethroned as President of the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations [BAAAs].
Elections last evening prove that that movement of change has begun and the new team will serve for the next three years. The new President-Elect is Mrs. Rosemunde Carey, 1st Vice President is Olympian Tonique Willams-Darling and the new Secretary General is Attorney Drumeco Archer. They will lead the Bahamas Sports Power into the 2016 Olympics.
Mr. Sands first represented his country twice at the Summer Olympics (1972 and 1976) and served as flag bearer on both occasions. He was the first ever-gold medalist for the Bahamas at the 1975 Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics and also won a bronze medal at the 1975 Pan American Games.
Sands climbed up the national governing body for the sport of athletics as was elected President of the BAAAs in 2009.
