NASSAU, Bahamas — The three-time NBA championship team the Miami HEAT will hold their training camp in The Bahamas for the second time in four years, the NBA team announced today. The camp, which will run from September 27 to October 1, 2016, will be held at the Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island.

The team will arrive in New Providence on September 26 and will conduct two-a-day practice sessions in the Grand Ballroom at the Atlantis Conference Center, which will be transformed into a double basketball court.

The Miami HEAT previously held a training camp at the Atlantis ahead of its 2013-14 season. The NBA team has an ongoing multi-year partnership with the Ministry of Tourism. During the 2013 camp, several of the NBA stars expressed their gratitude to the Bahamian people for welcoming them with open arms.

Bahamas Minister of Tourism, Obie Wilchcombe, said the Miami HEAT’s return to The Bahamas highlights the country’s strength as a premier sports tourism destination.

“The Miami HEAT’s decision to hold its fall training camp in The Bahamas, for a second year, is indicative of something very special going on in our destination. We are honored that The Bahamas is the only international destination that the HEAT has chosen to host its training camp,” Minister Wilchcombe said.

“Our partnership with the Miami HEAT continues to strengthen, grow and evolve. The Bahamas is a destination with year round sunshine, an array of luxury beach resorts, first-rate sporting facilities and events. The Bahamas has capitalized on these assets to establish itself as a world-class sports tourism destination. We look forward to welcoming the Miami HEAT’s players, coaches and executives.”

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism is also excited to announce Bahamas Night slated for March 15, 2017. The Islands of The Bahamas will take over the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida when the Miami HEAT takes on the New Orleans Pelicans.

More information on this exciting promotion will be revealed in the coming weeks.
