Police Reports a Horrid Holiday Weekend

ARMED ROBBERY

Around 8:30 am on Friday 30th July, 2010 police received information of an armed robbery at Bayview Academy.  Police responded and information received that a male clad in a black pants, a dark colored hat with a cloth about his face, entered the establishment allegedly armed with a shotgun demanding cash.  It is reported the culprit robbed an employee of the establishment of an undisclosed amount of cash and a cell phone and fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.  Police are investigating.

ARMED ROBBERY

Around 3:05 pm on Friday 30thJuly, 2010 police received information of an armed robbery at Miracle Tours, East Street and Robinson Road.   Police responded and information received that a male clad in a blue pants and a white striped shirt, allegedly armed with a handgun, entered the establishment demanding cash.  It is reported that the culprit robbed the establishment and a female patron of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area on foot east on Robinson Road and into the Florida Court area.  Police investigations continue.

STABBING

Around 11:20 pm on Friday 30th July, 2010 police received information of a stabbing at Kings Way Court off Hanna Road, Fox Hill Road.  Police responded and information received that a 29 year old female of Hanna Road got into an altercation with a male known to her and was subsequently stabbed multiple times to the body.  The female was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where was detained and later discharged.   Police are questioning a 31 year old male of Coral Harbour in connection with this incident, police investigations continue.

NASSAU STREET COURT BURGLARIZED

Around 1:45 am on Saturday 31st July, 2010 officers of the Nassau Street Police Station while making routine checks of the court building discovered the front entrance glass to the Nassau Street Court damaged.  On further examination officers discovered the security bars to Court #9 cut, the windows pried open and the screen removed.  The culprit/s broke and entered the court ransacking the Magistrate’s office.  It is believed the culprit/s attempted to remove a safe from the court, however they were unsuccessful.  Police do not have a suspect in custody in relation to this matter, however investigations continue.

BOARD WALK AT SANDY PORT COLLAPSE

Around 2:00 pm on Saturday 31st July, 2010 police received information that the board walk at the Beach Club Café, Sandy Port had collapsed.  Police along with officers from the police fire services and EMS personnel responded and discovered the board walk in waters at Sandy Port.  It is reported that family and friends were at the location following a funeral ceremony when the incident occurred.  It is reported that persons’ were rescued by bystanders, including Jet Ski operators. There were no major injuries reported, however five (5) people were taken to hospital for minor injuries.  Police investigations continue.

HOMICIDE

Shortly after 9:00pm on Saturday 31st July, 2010 police received information of a stabbing at the eastern parking lot of Green Parrots, East Bay Street.  Police responded and discovered the lifeless body of a dark male clad in khaki pants and a black stripe shirt with stab wounds to the body.  It is reported that the decease got into an altercation with a female who is believed to be a relative of his and was subsequently stabbed.  EMS responded and pronounced the victim dead.  Police are questioning a 43 year old female of Nassau Village in connection with this incident.  Police investigations continue.

HOMICIDE

Around 7:30 am on Sunday 01 August, 2010 police at Exuma received information of a shooting at Stuart Manor, Exuma.  Police responded and information received that the victim a 45 year old male of Stuart Manor,  was at his residence at Stuart Manor, Exuma when was approached by four (4) males with dread locks all allegedly armed with weapons.  It is reported the culprits fired gunshots in the direction of the victim which resulted in the victim receiving gunshot injury to the body.  The victim was transported to the local Clinic via private vehicle, where he succumbed to his injuries.   A team of officers from the Central Detective Unit have been flown into Exuma to assist their colleagues with the investigation.  Police investigations continue.

ARMED ROBBERY

Around 4:00 am on Sunday 01 August, 2010 police received information of an armed robbery at Deveaux Street off East Street.  Police responded and information received that a male while at his residence was awoken by three males one of whom was clad in a aqua shirt and a faded blue jeans pants, all of whom was allegedly armed with a handguns demanding cash.  It is reported the culprits robbed the victim of an undisclosed amount of cash, jewelry and cell phone.  The culprits fled that area on foot in an unknown direction.  Police are investigating.

SHOOTING

Around 1:20 am on Sunday 01 August, 2010 police received information of a shooting at Davis Street, Fox Hill.  Police responded and information received that a male while in the area of the Fox Hill roundabout was approached by a male allegedly armed with a handgun.  It is reported the culprit fired gunshots in the direction of the victim which resulted in the victim receiving gunshot injury to both legs. The victim was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he is listed in stable condition.  Police are questioning three (3) males, two ages 25 and a 22 year old, all of Fox Hill in connection with this incident.  Police investigations continue.


ARMED ROBBERY

Around 11:15 pm on Sunday 01 August, 2010 police received information of an armed robbery at Texaco Service Station, East and Soldier Roads.  Police responded and information received that a male clad in a black hooded jacket, yellow shirt and a blue jeans pants entered the establishment.  Once inside, the culprit pulled a masked over his face produced a handgun and demanded cash.  The culprit robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash and fled the area traveling north on East Street in a green Honda Accord L/P 189235.  Police later recovered vehicle at the rear of Bamboo Shack, Soldier Road.   Policed are questioning two (2) males in connection with this incident. Police investigations continue.

FIREARM AMMUNITION ARREST

Around 1:15 am on Monday 02nd August 2010 officers of the mobile division while  on routine patrol in the Thatch Palm Ave and Guinep Tree Street Pinewood Gardens were involved in a traffic accident involving a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire L/P 230706 occupied by two males.  It is reported that the passenger in the Pontiac Sunfire exited the vehicle attempting to evade police. Officers observed the male with an object believed to be a firearm and gave chase.  Officers caught up with the culprit and recovered a handgun with  ammunition.   The driver of the vehicle also attempted to flee the area however he was arrested a short time later. Both people were taken into custody.  Police investigations continue.
