Hon. Glenys Hanna-Martin addresses concerns over local government election again on the family Islands.

FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PROGRESSIVE LIBERAL PARTY
GLENYS HANNA MARTIN 19th AUGUST, 2008

IT IS INCREDIBLE THAT THIS GOVERNMENT HAS AGAIN SEEN FIT TO PERSIST IN THE HOLDING OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS IN CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH ARE EXTREMELY QUESTIONABLE.

MORE SPECIFICALLY, UP TO 9:00 A.M. THIS MORNING, ONE FULL HOUR AFTER THE OPENING OF POLLS SEVERAL ISLANDS IN THE COUNTRY WERE UNDER A TROPICAL STORM WATCH ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY.

THIS WATCH SERVED AS A NOTICE TO LOCAL POPULATIONS TO MAKE APPROPRIATE PREPARATION AND TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY.

IT IS THEREFORE MIND-BOGGLING THAT A GOVERNMENT WOULD SEEK TO HOLD AN ELECTORAL PROCESS URGING VOTERS TO PARTICIPATE WHEN THE METEROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT IS WARNING PEOPLE TO STAY INDOORS.

IN LIGHT OF THE ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING EXPERIENCED IN PARTICULAR IN GRAND BAHAMA AND THE CONCOMITANT RISK THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE CONDITIONS THE JUDGMENT MADE TO HOLD ELECTIONS APPEARS TO BE QUESTIONABLE INDEED. IT IS MOST UNFORTUNATE THAT THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS IS YET AGAIN BEING UNDERMINED BY THIS GOVERNMENT.

I BELIEVE THAT THE PRIME MINISTER OUGHT NOW RETURN FROM VACATION AS IN HIS ABSENCE THIS GOVERNMENT APPEARS TO BE EXPERIENCING A LEADERSHIP VACUUM.

  1. LOL. You still got to choose the best one. one of them is a bigger turd so I’ll choose the small one. lol

  2. Every citizen must make a choice and excersize their right to vote. So we must see which lump of turd is the cleanest.

  3. They shouldnt have much hope or trust in ANY of these political parties….but ESPECIALLY the FNM as they are showing their true colours now while governing.

  4. Why attack her guys? She is taking a stand as a worthy member of the opposition should. PERRY CHRISTIE SEEMS TO BE CHILLIN! The people in her constituancy have hope and trust the PLP. Right now the people of the Bahamas don’t have much hope or TRUST in the FNM.

  5. GCF….you betta stop…lollllllllll……but for real…this MP need to do something for her constitutency….its shabby but those people would be the FIRST at the polls in their blue and yellow to vote for her.

She better concentrate on a plan to get her people from living in squalor instead of talking crap.

  6. She should take all that passion and work for her constituency. Do you think they care. She just figure people stupid or at least those people are.

  7. T. Finley, If you check the PLP chairmen’s constituency, it is one of the only constituencies that do not have; a Police Station, Gov. Clinic, Public Library…etc. but most of them LOVE the PLP.

However, telling them about their short comings, is like the battered young girl counsuling her friend “…your boyfriend beats you up because he LOVE you “ya no”, he just showing he jealous…”

  8. Wow, and pigs could maybe fly? So what about Florida? They can do as they please. The government did not postpone the elections. They are in charge, and if you doh like it, vote them out next time.

  9. Boy Finley I thought you would have learned sense by now. Even here in Florida where I am currently visiting, they postponed their early poles.

  10. You are so right. Where was all this mouth before. I am sick of hypocritical politicans. Help the people who put you there and stop trying to put your own selfih agenda first.

  11. This woman is running out now. She should just shut her pie hole, and try and help those poor people in her constituency achieve some financial independence. Lord knows they have supported the PLP since time began, like the masochists that they are…
