Murder #178 since 2009 in Grand Bahama this morning

Freeport, GB — Murders in the country have broken another record high today as Bahamas Press is reporting murder #178 in the Ponce De Leon Drive area of Freeport Grand Bahama around 1:30 am this morning.

Bahamas Press has been reliably informed police met the male resident of the home suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the body.

The victim was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was later pronounced dead. It is alleged that three gunmen forced their way into the home and shot the male resident and left the area on foot.

The motive for this shooting remains unknown and the name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The police are seeking the assistance of members of the public who may have any information regarding this incident.

SHOOTING/ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY IN FARRINGTON ROAD

BP is also reporting the shooting of another male sometime around 7:30 pm on Tuesday. We are told information of a shooting in Farrington Road in the vicinity of Ajax Street.

Officers on patrol in the area responded and information received that a male was sitting in his vehicle on Farrington Road when two males, one of whom was armed with a handgun demanding cash, approached him.

The victim told the men he had no cash and was subsequently shot to the thigh following his answer. The victim was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he is detained in stable condition.

The culprits fled the area on foot north on Eden Street. Police are investigating and appealing to members of the public who may have any information regarding this or any other incident.
