Despite the assurance of the Jr. Minister Phenton Neymour that BEC had upgraded its generating plants and infrastructure, residences of Harbour Island and North Eleuthera (from Hatchet Bay to Jeans Bay) have been experiencing power outages since the first day of 2011 at a time when Hotel occupancy is high.
We were advised that there were power cuts up to eight hours last evening and that visiting Yachts have been complaining of power fluctuation and some have cut short their stay.
Supplies of diesel on Harbour Island are very low as the Hotels have been obliged to run stand by generators around the clock.
The people of North Eleuthera have been burdened with ongoing power outages since the return of the FNM to power in 2007.
It’s a disgrace that after almost four years the residences of North Eleuthera and Harbour Island have has to endure much under this self-proclaimed simply the best government.
Bradley Roberts and Al Jarrette is the ones that have Bec in the hole now.They reduce the basic electricity rates for political gain without taking into account that fuel fluctuates.Fuel went sky high and with the basic rates reduce that put a strain on Bec,therefore sending the company in the red.
Bradley Roberts is a joke. The current problem (no pun intended) with the electricity supply is not a new one, and has been the case for decades. Both parties had more than one opportunity to address the deficiencies, one of which you Bradley Roberts was a major player. Bradley Roberts “man go sit down!!”.
C’mon, Mr Roberts, man up! Tell us all exactly what you and your party did to improve the power plant and distribution in North Eleuthera in 5 years. I’ll give you a hint: ZERO.
Man up, Mr Roberts, how much land did the PLP buy for the people as you lied about in the 2007 election? Here’s a hint: about five hundred acres of mostly junk.
Man up, Mr Roberts, how much land did the PLP literally give away to I-Group Mayaguana, Baha Mar and Ginn on Grand? And man up and disclose how many millions you and your cohorts made in those deals.

I’m from Nassau, but also have a little home in Abaco so I know what you’re going through.
Here’s the big problem. The PLP under Christie did some really vindictive things and also were totally incompetent.
The FNM is actually doing long overdue upgrades but unfortunately is also incompetent.
But, I’d rather have someone who’s actually trying than someone who is deliberately doing bad things.
Kinda reminds me of kidney stone management: its painful, but this too shall pass!

The PLP and espically Bradley Roberts is the cost of all of BEC’s problems today. North Eleuthera will be ok, we are still real-ling from the wrath of Brad and the wutless PLP.

just was wondering if yall forgot about the years from 2002-2007 when the plp was in power… And not onli that the power was doing fine until Saturday the 1 of January when the plp leader Perry Christie came to Eleuthera…(just wanted to ask you that one)… Anyhow Just wanted to share that when the plp was there from 2002-2007 North Eleutera experienced power outages for practically all day… Funny how it is only North that has the problem and no only that it is still plp’s working in the power plant and for bec so… Any don’t blame the government blame the people…
