  1. the events that unfolds show no value or respect for human life or dignity. If there are laws and they must be enforced why is it that crimes against humanity escalates with few if any noticing or calling them for what they are. police brutality is the intentional use of excessive force, usually physical, but potentially also in the form of verbal attacks and psychological intimidation, by a police officer. Police brutality is one of several forms of police misconduct, which include false arrest, intimidation, racial profiling, political repression, surveillance abuse, sexual abuse, and police corruption.Police brutality can be associated with racial profiling. Portions of the population may perceive the police to be oppressors. In addition, there is a perception that victims of police brutality often belong to relatively powerless groups, such as minorities, the young, and the poor. Pressures to conform to certain aspects of “police culture”, such as the Blue Code of Silence, which can “sustain an oppositional criminal subculture protecting the interests of police who violate the law” and a “‘we-they’ perspective in which outsiders are viewed with suspicion or distrust. Police misconduct refers to inappropriate actions taken by police officers in connection with their official duties. Police misconduct can lead to a miscarriage of justice and sometimes involves discrimination. In an effort to control police misconduct, there is an accelerating trend for civilian agencies to go beyond review to engage directly in investigations and to have much greater input into disciplinary decisions. Off-duty misconduct. Noble cause corruption, where the officer believes the good outcomes justify bad behavior.Misconduct has been shown to be related to personality and education, but it can also be significantly affected by the culture of the police agency. A 1991 study of the relationship between the Big Five personality traits (extroversion, emotional stability, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience) and performance found that conscientiousness was the most significantly related to performance while agreeableness, emotional stability, and extroversion also has a relationship. There is a view that police officers share a ‘code of silence’ and do not turn each other in for misconduct. While this code has been called a myth, a 2005 survey found evidence that it exists. 21st century would be more beneficial advancing to a common good of all eliminating these barbaric practise and addressing them with integrity if there is to be any respect given.

  2. IN THE BAHAMAS, THE VAST MAJORITY OF BAHAMIANS ARE LAWLESS! ONCE YOU ARE TOLD THE REASON FOR YOUR ARREST, YOU SHOULD ALLOW THE POLICE TO CARRY OUT THE REST OF THE PROCESS WITHOUT ANY RESISTANCE! ONLY IN THE BAHAMAS THE POLICE PLAY WITH THE PUBLIC BECAUSE THESE WEAK POLITICANS ARE JUGGLING CRIME AND VOTES! WE NEED TO GET REAL PEOPLE THE POLICE ARE WORKING HARD! DO WHAT YOU’RE SUPPOSE TO DO AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO YOU………CRIMINALSSSSSSS

    • I rode down Bay Street last night and yinner should see how the officers parked their cars all in the road and on the main pavement in the heart a Bay Street? Cars were parked all in front of the shops on Bay Street. On in the window of BTC Cybercell Office in downtown NASSAU. BOY, I HEADED TO CANADA.

  3. WE LIVE IN A CIVIL SOCIETY AND WITH THAT IN MIND THERE ARE STATUE LAWS THAT GOVERN US AND THE GOVERNING BODY THAT ENFORCES THE LAW. A POLICE OFFICER HAS THE AUTHORITY TO ARREST AND USE FORCE WHERE THERE IS RESISTANCE, IF SHE RESISTED THEN HE IS IN HIS RIGHTS TO TAKE ACTION, NOT BECAUSE SHE IS A FEMALE. TOO MANY BAHAMIANS IN THIS COUNTRY ARE BECOMING LAWLESS.

    • I do agree police are suppose to uphold law and order…but where in the law books does it say if a person is alledgedly resisting arrest that the police have the right to BITE them??? Are you kidding me?? Biting???

The female police office DID NOT identify herself and she attacked the young lady while she was trying to explain to the officers that she conducted the tour all the time on that route and received permission from the Ministry of tourism to do so. She was also trying to not to alert the tourists because the officers (especially female police officer in plain clothes)was acting like she was on WWF or someone pissed her off earlier!!!

I don’t claim to know about what other officers have done and what offense they may or or may not have made…but that female officer as well as the male officer, need to be reprimanded to the fullest extent of the law!!! They need to be made exaple off becuase the entire incident WAS a disgrace, and an unwarrented attack..

These young officers clearly need more training and people skills!!!!

  4. MJ,
I am not an expert on anything except loving this country. What happened to Ms. Farah was wrong, and she was treated differently from the foreign persons. That MJ is the fact of the matter. Dont get mad with me because we disagree. That is why there is so much friction. Take a deep breath MJ. May God soften your heart.

    • Now you’re just being prejudice. How does white equate to being foreign? You do realize that white Bahamians exist .. right? And white bahamians have also been the victim of police brutality, so dont go there.

  5. This is disgraceful!! That young tourist who beat up the police officers in the market last year was not beaten. The barefoot bandit’s engine was shot out; no beating for him, but if you place the photo of the lovely Ms. Farah (the beating victim) next to the photos of the aforementioned young men it is evident what the difference is.

We are so “messed up” in our heads that we treat white foreigners better than our black citizens. Look at how we treat our Haitian and Jamaican bretheren while white illegal immigrants are ignored.
Boy we sick hey? We love white just like Hubert, Brent, and “dem”!!

The RBPF is committing “genocide” on its own people. Young black men die in custody all the time. Unarmed blacks are gunned down all the time…look at the Smith boy on Kemp Road. Not even an apology!!!!

Boy this crew have got to go. Enough is enough!!

    • What makes me sick is when people like “Hound from hell” open their big mouth like diarrhea and elaborate on situations as if they are the authority on everything. Mr expert at everything what about the police officers who are shot protecting you while you hide under your blanket and snore at night. Why don’t you become a reservist and make things better, but you may not have the nuts to do so!

    • And Hound according to the PM, “The Barefoot Bandit Committed NO CRIME In the Bahamas!” Take that to the Bank.

      BP

    • “Like our Black Citizens”?????????
Chief white people live here too, stop living under that rock. And regarding your immigration comment, what about the White Cubans at the detention center???

  6. This is what happens when you think as a loving person that you are helping tourism and the country as a whole continuing the hospitality trait which causes visitors to return to the Bahamas. It is not the first case of Bahamians being chased and humiliated in Nassau or Freeport where there is no discernment of criminal versus guardian of hope . Sad that it would be loving your country continually while being neglected it places you in a position where these visitors would not return given the beating payment received by the female for her good work in assisting others. As it shows the mental state of the country is in dire need of healing.

  7. the lady said she didn’t do nothing but then the man says they told her she was under arrest and she resist. What should they have done. Tell he ok when ever you ready to be arrested contact the stAtion. We need to stop thinking Tunnel vision and outside the box. We need to stop elaborating on these minor issues trying to being officers down but assist to show the country that we the people are tired of crime. The police only doing the job of prevention and detection. But it first starts with us.

    • First, let it happen to you or someone you know and care about and let’s see if you will feel the same. If when you’re on your job and you are talking to one police officer and turn away a person jumps you not in uniform and starts fighting you in the streets like an animal and then the others jump in and it’s okay because they are in uniform, that’s okay PLEASE!! What bothers me so is there were so many officers involved and they didn’t stop it. how do you leave your house for work and after stopping and talking with police you emerge with bite marks, a broken arm, strained ankle and stapes, scratches and bruises. That woman and I use that term very loosely is known to be a disgusting cop. A few days before she slapped some taxi cab driver in the Ministry of Tourism. She was moves from there because she is a problem. If they were doing their jobs none of things should have ever happened. So please don’t be so quick to make judgement, put yourself in other peoples shoes first
