Mother of toddler shot to death last night

Nassau, Bahamas — The mother of a two year old is dead this morning following another bloodbath in the capital.

Bahamas Press is reporting murder # 224 since 2009 following the double shooting of two women in the Southwestern section of New Providence.

We cannot report how the women became victims in this latest incident, but we can tell you, the second victim is fighting for her life in hospital.

BP is becoming weary however, to the conditions at the A&E section of the PMH.

Upon arrival at the hospital around midnight we saw huge lines of trauma victims in boiling pain in the A&E department.

A young woman sat in A&E for 5 hours before being served with a broken hand. The young lady noted she had slip and fell just outside school around 3PM. We were told she had arrived at A&E around 4PM and was still waiting to see doctor up to midnight.

Another young man complained of having the same issue with A&E. The boy had been at PMH since 8PM awaiting doctor to attend his sprained arm which hung in a sling.

Meanwhile a young girl suffering for periods of shock was sitting outside A&E awaiting doctor. Her mother told BP, “We have been here at PMH since 6AM Wednesday morning. We ran tests and we have to come back here again in the morning. It’s been a long day for us up here.

If there was anything thing good to say outside the suffering and long wait time at PMH? We can say the Hospital is indeed clean and the corridors polished. For the most part in our hour long tour the facility appeared quiet.

If the Government could find $28 Million Dollars to assist 19 wealthy FNM families in the Arawak Port Deal, why can’t it find the money to fully staff A&E? Things that make ya go hmmmmm!

Last week the minister of health was rolled into A&E after taking the blue pill and was served immediately, while poor mothers lay dying in A&E!

WE NEED CHANGE! Bahamians Need NHI!

  1. As a foreigner, i just hope that I don’t become a victim of what is a common occurrence in the Bahamas. This has got to be the saddest news to me, but as i look at everyone else around me, they seem to not care much about the ridiculously high and mounting murder rate. It seems mundane to them, not that i’m implying that the people of The Bahamas don’t care much about the crimes over here, but something has to be done about this. Murder means nothing over here and harsher punishment must be taken into affect..So sad RIP…SMH

  2. So many lives lost to crimes against humanity in pursuit of power through negligence. While there were lots of things distracting and dividing the nation something else was on the burner few have read about. January 12th 2010 an eartquake struck Haiti and the world responded to their aid. The poorest country has been given the upper hand in presenting to the world stories of which many have listened to. While Amnesty International documents what happens to Haitians like this female in the Bahamas it never gets any report on Bahamians to address what the covert narcissits have done are doing, as they are untouchable save by GOD. Even if no one believes that there is a GOD Mother Nature through even a tsunami reminds the world of the fragility of humanity. Read The Tribune date February 8th 2010 THE MYTH OF IDENTITY AND OUR LITTLE DIRTY SECRET. Bahamians were made to believe through the constitution and penal code they had rights in the Bahamas. Now they are coming daily to the fact that there is alot of talk with neglect abounding. The blantant removal of Bahamians from the top post in the nation of GG, COP, MOL, DPP, President of The BCC just to name a few brings to light A NEW REPUBLIC OF HAITI UNFOLDING. While this would mean progress for them the instability of the nation is evidence that the country has been secretively beseiged and only prayer can get as treason has surely taken place right under the noses of those who have been trusting in man. HOW IS IT THAT BAHAMIANS IN THE BAHAMAS NOW HAVE TO PROVE THEIR IDENTITIES TO GET RE-REGISTERED IN A SYSTEM WHICH ALREADY HOLDS THEIR DATA WHILE HAITIANS CAN GO IN THE VERY NEXT DAY AND COLLECT THEIR DOCUMENTS FROM GOVERNMENT. Is this fair and if so how can it be when no Bahamians can go to Haiti or any other country and do such a thing. Then again it is not who you know in so much as it is what you are willing to do.

  3. I am incensed by this story. I have yet to compose myself. The actions of these young animals that dare to call themselves men, is graded below that of savagery.

How can a man gun down two innocent women and a child (killing one in the process) because of a refusal of an offer for a dam ride.

Have we really come to this point in our social dynamics. Goddam, we arent going forwards, onwards and upwards, we are dam well going backwards, and downwards. We are under the cesspit.

These young sub-human beasts, filty dog animals need to be brought out into the public arena and beheaded. With their remains given to the hogs to eat.

    God help this country.

  4. ALISON, IF YOUR PARENTS ALLOW MURDERERS AND RAPIST IN YOUR HOME ONE DAY THEY WILL TURN ON YOU LIKE A PITBULL WOULD. BUT WHAT IS KEY IS THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS THE CAUSE FOR MOST OF OUR SOCIAL ILLS SIMPLE BECAUSE THEY ALLOW ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES TO TAKE PLACE BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE IF THEY CLOSE THEIR EYES TO IT, IT WILL GO AWAY. AND THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM, THE HOSPITALS AND OTHERS. WHAT YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND IS THE LACK OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL AND IF YOU ENPOWER YOUR PEOPLE WITH EDUCATION AND ENFORCE OUR LAWS WE WOULDN’T BE LIVING IN THE WILD WILD WEST. SO THE PROBLEM IS THE GOVERNMENT AND NOT JUST THIS ONE BUT THE OTHER. THEY MUST STOP THINKING OF HOW TO FATTEN THEIR POCKETS BUT RATHER HOW TO MAKE THE BAHAMAS A BEAUTIFUL AND SAFE COUNTRY TO LIVE IN ONCE AGAIN. SORRY I SHOULD SAY FOR BAHAMIANS TO APPRECIATE. THEY TEND TO BELIEVE WE MEAN THE FOREIGNERS, RICH OR POOR.

  5. Lady Russell you are what they call an ignorant person, remember when you die dust you shall return so stop bleaming the forgien people for the bahamian people actions.Dont you go away to shop? dont ya ass take a plane and wish you could leave the Bahamas 4 a min? Stupid Ass!!!!!!!

  6. No government with limited resources can effectively provide for it’s citizens when it is being invaded by illegal immigrants whose culture and socialization is incompatible with ours. That’s a fact. Let’s get rid of the extra illegal bodies in our education system and teach OUR children with our teachers and limited resources; get them out of the hospitals and let us treat our people and get them off our streets so that we can use what we have to fix our stretched and broken families in a country where Bahamians are becoming a scarce specie.

Your comments have so encouraged me, that I am sharing my thoughts in an Editorial letter written today:

      Dear Editor:

Please permit me to focus national attention on the government’s violation of our laws regarding Illegal Immigration, which is causing a marked decrease in Public Safety, increasing Crime Statistics, hardship in the delivery of Social Services benefits to Bahamian citizens, and avoidable deaths due to deficiencies in critical care in the Public Hospitals and Community Clinics.

Apparently, prime Minister Ingraham has unilaterally changed The Bahamas’ Immigration Policy regarding illegal Haitian immigrants. Following the earthquake in Haiti last year January, Ingraham ordered the release of all 110 detainees at the Detention Center, with the proviso that they report to the Immigration Dept. at Hawkins Hill weekly. What an insult!

This “woefully bad decision” has grossly undermined our national security efforts, lowered the Department of Immigration’s standard operating procedures, resulted in the resignation of the functioning Immigration Minister and raises the following critical ‘R’ questions:

      1. Have the released illegal Haitian former detainees been REPORTING?

      2. Have the former detainees been REPATRIATED?

      3. Have these released illegals since been REGULARIZED?

As citizens of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, we must demand that
Prime Minister Ingraham be made to answer for his callous disregard for The Bahamas Constitution and the sacred rights of the Bahamian people to develop The Bahamas along the lines of their Christian values heritage; by removing him from office in 2012 followed by a Commission of Enquiry to exact retribution for his crimes.

      Sincerely,

      Phillippa “Lady” Russell
      Bahamian Citizen

  7. I noted the deceptive headlines in this mornings newspapers regarding this most recent violent killing on Florville Road . “Women Gunned Down In Street” and “Church Women In Gun Horror” are two captions in the newspapers, designed to take readers on an emotional journey leading to nowhere.

The misleading headline in The Tribune went the distance in milking the sympathy of unsuspecting reader’s, when the writer pursued the “Church” angle of a story which has nothing to do with religion.

The known facts surrounding this newest violent murder on Bahamian soil is that thousands of undocumented, illegal immigrants from Haiti are living in our bushes, defacating on the soil, contaminating the water table, overcrowding our schools, crippling the delivery of our emergency medical services, are working illegally, thus denying Bahamian citizens access to the too few jobs.

How long before the situation necessitates that the United Nations Peace Keepers are brought in to maintain order in these illegal shantytowns?

Who is responsible for failing to enforce our Immigration laws by instructing the immediate return of these illegal persons to their country?

Who will bear responsibility for this continuous reduction in the quality of our lives in The Bahamas by allowing these gross violations of our laws?

When the Commission of Enquiry is held to examine these events and agencies responsible for maintaining our society, from the Police Dept.,the Churches, the Politicians, to the Immigration Dept.,et al., where will the trail of CORRUPTION end?

Yes, it is sad that a young woman was tragically murdered in cold blood, in the middle of the road, but when will these people be made to return to their own country? Where for them, this is a common occurence and simply a manifestation of their cultural norms. Bodies remain on the side of the road, unclaimed and unidentified for days, as a norm!

The resolution of these heinous crimes being committed in our Baamas are unlikely, since the perpetrators are unknown to us. Undocumented criminals whose contempt for human life is apparently emboldened by their anonymity and our national paralysis to enforce the laws in removing them from The Bahamas!

And NO! I will not be attending the Pity-party!

    • “Lady” Russell, you never cease to amaze me. I suspect that the love of God is not resident in you. I once held you in high regard, but the more you speak the lower you fall. Two peaceful, God-fearing human beings made in the image and likeness of God were shot and one died.

Believers, the hallmark of disciples of God’s Son is love. Despite the lawlessness rampant in our country we cannot allow our love to grow cold, as the Lord warned in Matthew 24:12.

      • @Gerard

Your opinion of me is neither relevant nor solicited!

Only the CORRUPT views CORRUPTION without the slightest hint of alarm and then proceeds to discussions about the Weather.

So, why don’t you have a nice day!

  8. It’s amazing! Where are our priorities? What good will great roads do for us if we can’t or won’t take care of our sick!!!

  9. Waiting time in A&E at PMH has always been an issue but I don’t think the Government could have ever anticipated the huge numbers of trauma victims, resulting from gun shots and stabbings, that would require treatment at that facility. They cannot cope. It is no use blaming Government or the Police for the violence. Anyone perpetrating violence on another has made choice and is the one responsible for the act….society, parents, peers etc, can all influence one’s behaviour, but, at the end of the day, we, as adults, choose what we do, how we speak to people, how we respond to conflict.

Government is, however, responsible for how money is allocated and I agree more should be spent on actually helping the people of The Bahamas, before we perfect our infrastructure. We want a beautiful place so that tourists will come and spend money but will that same money be recycled to help those who are hurting here?

  10. all the government cooperation is one big mess wow how much they care about poor people in this country, they are short pf staff

    • @lady…maybe you need to return to your country of birth and leave my nassau, and government alone. maybe sandilands or an asylum in cuba somewhere. we think you pretend to be who you are not……PLEASE COME HOME WITH US

      • @stevie wonder

Gottcha! Between your conffused ramblings about Sandilands and Cuba, I gathered that you are stuck here in Nassau, between a rock and a hard place. Your “PLEASE COME HOME WITH US” statement gave you away!
