Nassau, Bahamas — Bahamas Press is mourning the death of a young talented Bahamian who represented the country around the world.
Dead tonight is Atlantis’ Executive Sou Chef/Pastry at the Cove, Jasmine Young.
Young you would remember was a fixture on the Ministry of Tourism’s television promotions as she promoted her business in Tourism.
We are told over the weekend the St. Annes’ High School Graduate of 1989, fell ill following complications of a pregnancy. Young was expecting twins.
Family members and friends tell us, “She had such a promising life, she was definitely too young to die. We will miss her.”
Young’s success in her discipline delivered her a Cacique Award for outstanding service in the Tourism Business.
Bahamas Press extends our condolences to her husband, and her entire family including her sister Jocelyn.
May she rest in peace…AMEN!

Its a sad day in the life of the Bahamas & Culinary Arts Industry I had the pleasure of meeting this gem of a lady several years ago while pursuing a career in the arts as she went beyond the call of duty in assisting me in my endeavours, she was always never to busy to return a call or take the time out to talk with me. Sincerest condolences to her husband and her extended family We have truly lost a Gem
I do not know Chef Jasmine personally but my husband and I often watched her and were so very very proud of her success as a young Bahamian. I often expressed my delight at her vibrant and beautiful smile. My condolances and prayers for her family. May Gods presence comfort you during this difficult time. R.I.P Chef Jasmine.
Jazzy and I grew up in the same neighborhood! We were friends across the fence… and played together on occassion. My mom always kept track of Jazzy’s accomplishments and was happy to brag about Jazzy as she updated me on “the happenings” any time I call home. I am shocked as I sit here in Atlanta reading this news today. I join my Bahamian community in expressing condolences to the family for such a tremendous loss. May her soul rest in peace! I am proud to have known such a great Bahamian! 🙂
I am an alumna of St. Anne’s jaz was my classmate, I was so shocked to hear of her passing. I express my sincere sympathy to her family and husband whom I worked with for a short while at McDermott International. I pray God’s strenght of them as they weather this storm. God bless.
R.I.P chef Jasmine, you were a Fantastic Chef, i will really miss you. i always remembered when you, I and Chef Wayne Moncur would prepare classes for Atlantis culinary institute’s Cooks training. we also worked on many Events for the Bahamas culinary Association. you accomplished so much and you have gone to soon, deepest sympathy to your Culinary Family at Atlantis , and heartfelt sympathy to the Clarke and Young family, May God keep you in this time of sorrow, a Young Talented Chef gone to soon. R.I.P. chef Jasmine.
This is very heartbreaking b/c Jaz was such a little bundle of joy and touched lives everywhere she went. What angers me though is the fact that other ladies have babies and leave them in abandoned buildings and on the steps of homes and here is someone who would’ve been a great mom – and now she is gone 🙁
Oh my goodness, this is soooo sad!!! I thank God for my beuatiful Kids and thank him for successful Pregnancies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you!!!!!!!!!!!
R I P Chef jasmain you will forever be miss you accomplish your goals and your dreams your time was well spent .But on april 11 god saw it fit that he was ready for you to cross that river . Well done YOU CAN COME ON IN WELL DONE
OMG WOW! I saw Chef died but didn’t read the article until someone told me she died. This is truly sad. I hd the pleasure of meeting her a few years ago during a culinary event I worked on and she was the sweetest most hardworking person always offering help. She was so beyond her years and now we see she was only meant to be here for a short time.
I was so looking forward to the day when she would become BCA president.
Its all the more tragic knowing that this is the third Bahamian woman to die of complications related to pregnancy in a month that I know of.
Now we all know that feast in Heaven is going to taste all the more better with her up there. Deepest sympathy to her family
I simply cant beleive a Gem like Jaz is gone… My prayers go out to her husband Darrin and her sister Joy. May her soul Rest in peace
Sincere condolences to the family on the loss of Jasmine. What a wonderful person, its been years since our St. Annes days but I will never forget her wonderful personality and the zeal she showed in her professional life. To the whole family especially her husband and sister Joyelle, may you be comforted by Gods Grace during your time of bereavement!
Jasmine was one of the shining stars that graduated from the BHTC. Always striving for excellence she went on to study at John and Wales then rise to be one of the top chefs (male or female). An example of what young talented bahamians should be.
Your bright smile will be missed Jasmine. Your life may have been short but you definitely left your mark in this world.
