Workers to GO at BTC and the Government Cannot Deny IT!

Minister of Labour Dion Foulkes now spokesperson for LIME BAHAMAS - BTC -.?

Bahamas Press read with interest the response of the TORCH [Tribune] this morning as they spoke to Failed Minister of Labour, Dion Foulkes, on a report by Bahamas Press, which confirms some 600 workers at the telephone corporation are set to be fired by the end of the year.

Reading from the Outgoing FNM Government’s famous response line, Foulkes said the news was not true and that the information presented came from that “PLP website”.

Hog knows just where to rub its skin as blatant CORRUPTION, FRAUD and DECEIT have been committed against the Bahamian People during the sale of BTC to Cable and Wireless.

While both Foulkes and the Tribune seeks to spin the facts, we know they SUPPORT the FNM and expect nothing better from them.

We however noted not a DAMN word was whispered in the article over today’s axing of Kirk Griffin, nor was nothing printed about the shipment of the entire International Carrier Payment Centre to Jamaica. All jobs in that department will be gone by the end of May.

The Government of the Bahamas [INCLUDING DION FOULKES] does not speak on behalf of LIME BAHAMAS [BTC] anymore! Somehow they forgot they sold the DAMN company. Cable and Wireless are the only people who can speak to the pending bloodbath headed for workers at the Corporation.

However, Foulkes should have told the Tribune what was his government’s response to the Voluntary Work Reduction Programme submitted to Hubert Ingraham in the Cabinet Room following the transfer on the day of sale. In that programme he should have told the Tribune how many persons are headed for the guillotine and how much money was being offered to workers in various departments, which are being shipped to Jamaica.

MUMS THE WORD!!! THEY SOLD OUT THE PEOPLE OF THE BAHAMAS AND THEY SOLD BTC BACK TO THE BRITISH! THEY HAVE NO DAMN SHAME!

Additionally, the Minister with Responsibility for Labour should focus on his brother’s operation in Downtown Nassau.

At the end of Charlotte Street a new Sharkeez Bar is being constructed. We understand by information supplied to us in that former Starbucks building there is a gang of Jamaican workers who are without any work permits. THAT IS WHAT THE MINISTER SHOULD BE SPEAKING TO.

And while in the face of the press he should speak to the matter of Stephens Close.

Foulkes could run to the Torch and speak on behalf of Cable & Wireless, but he cannot find his tongue to tell the RAG SHEET of the crookedness and BACKSIDE RAPE committed against the people of Stephen Close by him.

Hubert Ingraham, the FNM and the TORCH [The Tribune] SOLD BTC BACK TO THE BRITISH and sold out THE BAHAMIAN PEOPLE for pennies!

Twenty Two FNMs – INCLUDING KENYATTA GIBSON voted “YES” TO SELL OUT BAHAMIANS! Don’t forget it!

AND WE ‘GA’ CHANGE DAT! A ROYAL COMMISSION IS HEADED TO THE BAHAMAS FOR PAPA AND HIS BOYS!!! SOMEONE GERN TA JAIL FOR COLLECTING THAT 3% FINDER’S FEE!

  1. This is man is the minister of labor in the new FNM/BDM Ingraham and Cassius Coalition government who is willing to pay for maids uniforms so they can apply for domestic jobs because they have stated that they are granting far too many work permits for foreigners to do this work. They also have a new program to cut food costs by supplying Bahamians with rakes, shovels and grurboes for them to go door to door to offer gardening services and to also reduce their food bills to create backyard farming to grow their own vegetables. I’m pretty sure this FNM/BDM coalition government will soon have a free program to encourage Bahamians to raise sheep, goats and chickens as backyard livestock enterprises, Finally; the new FNM/BDM coalition leadership of Ingraham and Cassius are taking serious action to help college graduates to find domestic jobs and to become backyard entrepreneurs. Seems to me like you’re in conflict with Larry Cartwright the minister responsible for Agriculture. What’s next; give out free donkeys, as the Bahamas most affordable method of transportation, if the car gas prices get any higher? You know the Bahamas is in trouble when you have to do away with the Jitneys for the family donkeys.

  2. I am told that the former prime minister of Jamaica works for C & W and it was he, in a secret meeting with old meat head (Hubert Ingraham)uncle tom, who help seal the deal for C & W. I am told that guarantees for personal fortunes to be made were also assured. Ingraham has no shame; he is shameless. But that’s good for the Bahamian asses who elected him.

  3. Bahamas Press your information is 100% ACCURATE!!!The BIGGEST winners of the sale of BTC to C&W are C&W,AND JAMAICA.Bruce Golding IS THANKING GOD FOR THE NUMEROUS JOBS THAT WILL BE OUTSOURCED FROM BTC TO JAMAICA !!!

    • Question, is BTC overdraft, once you answer the question what’s the problem. Most of the staff are political hires anyway, they have lived of the backs of the Bahamian people without care or concern. Streamline the company so that it can be lean and meet the challenge ahead as competition come into play. This is business people… Nothing else. The union guys who now cry are compromise, they decided to play politics instead of acting in the best interest of their members… Who failed who… The union leaders……. Think Bahamas

  4. The failed Minister of Labour is at it again. It has become so nauseating, that no one believes anything he says anymore. He has failed miserably in his last two attempts to win his seat in Parliament and is surviving only on the grace and mercy of the Bahamian population on whom he depends on for a living. He is a lousy lawyer and never won any significant cases, and is headed towards the practices of his father, the Governor General who has been dependent on the Public Treasury for a living since 1992.
Mr. Foulks, who is of Haitian decent, knows how to suck up to Mr. Ingraham. Suddenly, he is now sucking up to Cable & Wireless. I guess he wants a job from them as well. For his information, Cable and Wireless has a well oiled public relations department and they can fight for themselves.
Mr. Foulks’ job is to fight for the Bahamian labour force, and since he has been the Minister of Labour, more Bahamians are unemployed than ever. Their (the FNM’s) solution to unemployment is simply to stop publishing the statistics or the unemployment level so the average Bahamian would not know just how many persons are unemployed. I say to Mr. Foulks, go do your job and find jobs for Bahamians. Stop coming up with ridiculous comments that unemployment is going down because the amount of Bahamian applying for unemployment assistance is going down. For your information, the assistance you offer is limited to 13 weeks for two applications (a total of 26 weeks), then you cannot apply anymore (guess Foulks did not know that). So it is possible for those persons to still be unemployed but are not barred from requesting additional funds from the government.
Get a life Mr. Foulks. Brush up on your law. You will need it because after the next election, both you and your father will need to find a different means of support and not depend on the public treasury to support you. At least your father may have a pension, but even if you had a pension, your dark night habits would have spirited that all away.
Stop being C & W’s spokesman. Rather, speak for the Bahamian workforce. And get a job and buy your own car. Ease up of the government and the people.
