CONCERNED CITIZEN TURNS WEAPON INTO POLICE
Police have removed another firearm from the streets of New Providence, thanks to an outstanding citizen. Police reports indicate that shortly after 8:00 pm on Wednesday 8th June, 2011 police acting on information went to a residence at East Street where they discovered a shotgun on the roof. No one was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.
SOUTHEASTERN DIVISION OFFICERS MAKE DRUG & FIREARM ARREST
Officers of the Southeastern Division took into custody a male and a female after a quantity of drugs and a weapon was found inside their Nassau Village home. Police reports indicate that sometime around 2:25am on Thursday 9th June 2011 Officers of the Southeastern Division executed a search warrant on a home at Matthew Street, Nassau Village where they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana along with an imitation firearm. The occupants of the home, a 53 year old female and a 30 year old male, were taken into custody. Police investigations continue.
OFFICERS OF SOUTHEASTERN DIVISION CONFISCATE STOLEN ELECTRONIC GOODS
Officers of the Southeastern Division arrested a female after an assortment of electronic equipment and drugs were found inside her residence. Preliminary reports indicate that sometime around 10:30 am on Wednesday 8th June, 2011 officers of the Southeastern Division acting on information executed a search warrant on a residence at Sir Lynden Pindling Estates off Charles W. Saunders Highway. Officer searched and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana along with an assortment of cell phones, and other electronic equipment. Additionally, a Honda vehicle suspected of being stolen was also uncovered by police. The 25 year old female was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.
POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING & MURDER
Police are investigating two (2) separate shooting incidents, one that has left a man dead and the other in stable condition in hospital. The first incident reportedly occurred around 3:40 pm on Wednesday 8th June, 2011. Information received that the victim was at Step Street, Fox Hill when he was approached by the occupant/s of a dark blue Nissan Sentra.
It is reported that the driver of the vehicle produced a handgun and fired a gunshot in the direction of the victim which resulted in the 18 year old receiving a gunshot injury to the forearm. The victim was taken to hospital via private vehicle where he is detained in stable condition.
The second incident reportedly occurred sometime around 10:12 pm on Wednesday 8th June, 2011 at Gambier Village. Preliminary reports indicate that the 26 year old male was sitting under a tree at Gambier Village, when he was approached by a male and subsequently shot to the head. The victim was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he succumbed to his injuries. Police are investigating and appealing to members of the public who may have any information regarding these incidents, or any other incident, or who may have information regarding illegal weapons or drugs, to call police at 911, 919,the CENTRAL DETECTIVE UNIT at 502-9991, 502-9910 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS.
