Nassau, Bahamas — Bahamas press is investigating an incident now unfolding at the Lynden Pindling International Airport’s Airport’s arrival gate.
BP is putting questions to the Road Traffic Department tonight as we come down hard on another rouge taxi driver.
BP has learnt, taxi driver #186 operates his vehicle at the LPIA terminal. From our discovery this week, passengers arriving at the gate visiting the country from London were all packed in the driver’s car, but get this, they nor he knew where to go.
With a public service license visible on hand the guests asked him to take them to their vacation at the Lyford Cay Club. But guess what, taxi #186 cannot speak a word of English! Problem #1.
Problem #2 taxi #186 don’t know where the hell Lyford Cay was on the island, which means he is another foreigner just reach in the Bahamas and perhaps is holding a fraudulent public service license.
Problem #3 the guest stood confused and the driver at the arrival gate stood confused. WHAT IN THE HELL IS THIS?
Bahamas Press is calling on the Ministry of Tourism, the Road Traffic Department and the man in charge of public service drivers with authority by issuing public service driver’s licenses to seriously INVESTIGATE THIS POSTHASTE!
What kind a JACKASS society are we operating here? How could an individual, who have no inkling on where the hell they are going, find themselves overnight with a public service license in the Bahamas? A man headed to the Lyford Cay Club cannot get to his location because some public officer at the DAMN GATE AT LPIA is not doing his or her JOB!
Yinner better get a grip on this before guests ends up on Mackey Yard or deep in one of these shanty towns around Nassau.
BP is asking the director of road traffic:
• How did Taxi Driver #186 get his license if he cannot speak a word of English, but yet, is holding yinner document?
• Who at Bahama Host, a required programme for all taxi drivers, vetted this driver?
Bahamas Press is also calling on the Commissioner of Police to investigate these claims and urgently as “THE PROTECTOR AND UPHOLDER OF LAW AND ORDER BY THE CONSTITUTION”, order an immediate investigation into what we believe is another racket/scam in the road traffic department.

matters such as this was brought to the attention of the Controller at Road Traffic a long time ago. His excause was that not everyone who cannot speak english are not Bahamian and we should not be too quick to judge. Ask the Road traffic officers who is doing this type of mess and possibly getting a handsome reward for their effort to haitianize the industry. This industry is strickly for Bahamians. Persons with work permit or perminant resident document cannot (according to the act.) and should not be entitle to a licence to drive a taxi. B.P is correct when they say a investigation is required and those found wanton should go to jail.

the embassy just stopped issuing regular visas because they want to get rid of the backlog of student visas, once the summer rush is over they will start regular visa issuing
There was a press statement by the embassy on this. Why not you read that statement before you make rash judgments.

Mr. Laing indicated on his face book page that Bahamians are responsible for this Haitian problem and we are jealous of the children of Haitian parents who have educated themselves and are getting the better jobs. I find this so ridiculous coming from a Minister of The Government. First of it is the duty of the Government to protect its citizens. If you don’t put laws in place to prevent these things from happening how you can blame the people. Then there is the issue of the government allowing their generals who don’t know a dam thing about farming to apply for permits for these people so they could collect upwards to a hundred dollars a month from each of these immigrants which goes as high as $10,000 per month. Approving permits for persons who can’t afford a maid or a gardener. And you say it’s the people fault when these people work outside the scope of their permits and nothing is done.
They allow these foreigners to come here to work with no regulation on how long they would be allowed to stay. And they approve work permits for people who entered the country illegally and it’s the Bahamian people fault. When the PM general, (H.K.) who is known to pimp Jamaican girls off had a problem getting his girls in the PM chastise the Immigration officers. When they arrested the Haitians in Eleuthra he told the haitians to sue the then government. So who is at fault Mr. Laing.
If the laws for stealing were not being enforce most people would steal. So if you put laws in place that prevents certain actions and enforce these laws that we have, then blame is not yours. But if the government assists their friends to break and circumvent these laws they shouldn’t come back and say they blame the citizens. We could have a better society if our government ministers were not so dishonest and we wouldn’t have to compete for jobs with foreign offspring.

Well you should also ask Jack Thompson to have an Immigration Officer on the airport investigate this man’s status. He is most likely someone who has some fraudulent documents. So many of them have fraudulent documents because its so easy to fool or bribe government officials. What those other drivers need to to when they suspect this is to detain these people and force the authorities to investigate because possession of fraudulent documents i believe is a felony which allows for citizen arrest.
