Freeport, Grand Bahama – Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham travelled to Grand Bahama to meet with and congratulate the young Grand Bahamians who dazzled visiting delegates and locals alike through their cultural performance at the 5th Commonwealth Local Government Conference held in Freeport last month.
A party sponsored by the Ministry of Local Government was held Saturday at the Our Lucaya for members of the Grand Bahama Youth Choir and the Walker Parker primary school Junior Junkanoo group. Government Ministers, Members of Parliament and Senators were also in attendance.
Through the rhythms of song and dance, the Grand Bahama Youth Choir, comprised via open auditions ahead of the Conference, put on a 30-minute opening ceremony performance displaying the unique aspects of Bahamian culture and folklore. The performance garnered a standing ovation at the ceremony where hundreds of delegates from 46 visiting countries were in attendance.
And former national Junior Junkanoo champions the Walter Parker primary school brought the sights and sounds of the country’s cultural parade to the streets of the Port Lucaya Marketplace in rush-out marking the climax of the four-day Conference.
