Second murder on the island of Cat Island for the year

Devil’s Point, Cat Island — Bahamas Press is reporting the second murder on the Cat Island for the year. Now you would remember we reported some days back how a young man was missing on the island and that a bulletin was put out on him.

Bahamas press can confirm on Thursday police discovered the body of Fordace Moncur, beheaded in an area in Devil’s Point.

Police investigating the crime scene tell us that while on Cat Island, they discovered burnt human remains of the victim through a track road in the community before midnight on Thursday.

Preliminary reports indicate that officers were notified of a strange odor in the area and upon checking discovered the remains.

At present the circumstances surrounding this incident are unknown. However, a team of officers from the Central Detective Unit, New Providence, is on the island assisting their colleagues with the investigations.

This is the second murder to occur on the island for the year.

Man drowned in water on Great Harbour Cay

We can confirm that shortly after 9:00 today the deceased believed to be in his early thirties (30’s) was discovered floating in waters off Great Harbour Cay.

He was pulled from the waters and pronounced dead.
