BARCELONA, Spain – Bahamas Press has breaking news this morning which confirms Bahamian athlete and world junior gold medalist in the 100m and 200m this year has caught the eyes of world sports executives and she shall be honoured at a banquet in Barcelona.

After a nine hour trek across the Atlantic, Bahamas Athletics is on the ground in Barcelona to begin its exciting coverage of the IAAF’s Centenary Celebrations, a spectacular weekend of events that will pay tribute to and celebrate 100 years of track and field excellence.

Day One of the weekend events is centered on the IAAF’s Executive Board and Council meetings set to take place between 9am and 6:30pm. You can be sure that before the night is out, Bahamas Athletics will provide you with the latest news and reviews coming out of those high level talks.

Then the focus shifts to day two of the Centenary festivities, when the athletic stars begin making their official public appearances.

Starting at 11am on Friday, the parade of athletes gets underway with a media day that brings track and field’s history and the future together in one place at the same time.

In the press room at the exclusive Hotel Arts, the legends of track and field – along with many of today’s exciting, young athletic talent – will meet the world’s press for the first time this weekend.

Expected to appear on stage in front of the media at this all day affair will be Donavan Bailey and Maurice Green; Aries Merritt, Renaldo Nehemiah and Colin Jackson; Tirunesh Dibaba, Ingrid Kristiansen and Elena Meyer; Joanna Hayes and Sally Pearson; Sebastian Coe, Alberto Jauntorena, Wilson Kipketer and David Rudisha; and Yohan Blake, Usain Bolt, and Allyson Felix.

Then, Day Two will come to a close with an invitation only cocktail reception and dinner at the historic Museu Maritim de Barcelona.
