Why are so many Bahamians killing themselves in this day of recession?

Nassau, Bahamas – Bahamians are taking their lives more than ever some believe and yet is still unclear why. We know many Bahamians are bi-polar and a good number walking around are as crazy as hell, some are in coat suit and one was senior politician for a fact we know is crazy as hell! But the number of suicides now in the country must concern every Bahamian.

Just last night, another resident ended her life on the island.

From what we know, a 35-year-old female of Reeves Street, Fox Hill is the latest victim to have committed suicide.

According to reports police were notified of the incident shortly after 11:00 pm on Friday and responded to the scene.

The female was reportedly discovered by family members inside a residence hanging from a rope.

This suicide followed another incident in the Perpall area around 9am yesterday.

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a male who was discovered inside a residence on Ferguson Way off Perpall Track, with gunshot injuries.

According to reports police were notified of the incident shortly before 9:00 am on Friday.

Preliminary reports indicate the victim also ended his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Active police investigations continue.

Bandits target KFC restaurants

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating two (2) men responsible for robbing a business establishment on Prince Charles Drive and attempting to rob another on Mackey Street, on Friday.

The first incident reportedly occurred around 6:40 pm at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Mackey Street.

According to reports two (2) armed males one of whom wore a red sweater and the other a blue hooded jacket, entered the establishment and demanded cash.

The men were unsuccessful in their attempt and fled the area accompanied by a second male.

The second incident reportedly occurred around 8:10 pm at KFC Prince Charles Drive.

According to reports a male wearing a red jacket and blue jeans pants entered the establishment allegedly armed with a handgun and demanded cash.

The culprit reportedly robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash and fled the area accompanied by a second male in a silver Elantra, which was stolen, from a customer.

Police recovered the vehicle a short time later on Garden Road. Active police investigations continue.
