HANDGUN AND AMMUNITION SEIZED BY FLYING SQUAD OFFICERS, FOUR IN CUSTODY

Four men were taken into custody, following the seizure of a handgun by police on Monday 4th August 2014. According to reports, shortly after 8:00am, a team of officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Rolle Avenue off Wulff Road, where they found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The four men were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

10 ARRESTED DURING POLICE OPERATION

Ten men who were wanted by police for a number of housebreakings were arrested during a police operation in the Fox Hill area during the evening of Monday 4th August 2014. The operation, which was led by Assistant Commissioner Leon Bethel, signaled the commitment of the police to arrest and bring to justice, all persons responsible for committing criminal acts on members of our communities.

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY FOR RAPE

According to reports, shortly before 12:00noon on Monday 4th August 2014, officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence arrested a 19 – year old male of Sugar Apple Street, Pinewood Gardens for questioning reference to rape.

HANDGUN SEIZED BY POLICE IN ANDROS

According to reports, shortly after 2:30pm on Monday 4th August 2014, officers from the Andros District acting on intelligence went to an abandoned building in the Well Fields located through a tract road at Red Bay’s North Andros, where they uncovered a handgun. No one was arrested for this seizure. The investigation continues.

US VISITOR IN CUSTODY FOR DRUG POSSESSION

According to reports, shortly after 2:00pm on Monday 4th August 2014, officers from Paradise Island Station while at East Bay and Fowler Streets conducted a search of a 19 – year old male from Port St. Lucie, Florida and found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

12 ARRESTED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS OVERNIGHT

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2014, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the following arrests overnight:

Four (4) arrests for Breach of the Immigration Act
Three (3) arrests for Outstanding Criminal Warrants
Two (2) arrests for Stealing
One (1) arrest for Assaulting a Police Officer
One (1) arrest for Assault
One (1) arrest for Burglary

Additionally, 31 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.
