Some time near midnight last night, a vessel believed to be from Haiti landed in the vicinity of Palmetto Point, Eleuthera with people aboard without visas to enter The Bahamas. Some 28 people were detained by a combined force of Immigration, Customs and the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
The people believed to be Haitian nationals will be flown to Nassau later today. A sweep is continuing to find out if there any others who may have escaped lawful custody.
