Another 40 Haitian Nationals captured boarding an American vessel off Snake Cay

RBDF Operations at Coral Harbour base received a call with regard to a Haitian vessel landing in the area of Stoke’s Cabana in southern New Providence on March 12th. In that apprehension some 78 migrants consisting of 67 males, 10 females and 1 child were turned over to a team from the Department of Immigration

Abaco, Bahamas — With the right equipment and team more and more persons being trafficked at sea are being caught by those who protect the boarders.

BP is reporting how the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Marines aboard the patrol craft, HMBS P48, in collaboration with members of the Defence Force’s satellite base in Abaco apprehended approximately 40 Haitian nationals on board an American registered sailing vessel off Snake Cay just south of Marsh Harbour early this morning.

The satellite base team along with Immigration authority also apprehended a male occupant of a van that was parked on Snake Cay. All apprehended persons are being handed over to Immigration authority in Abaco for processing.

The incident took place before 1 a.m. this morning, and was the result of a joint operation between Immigration officials and the Defence Force personnel stationed in Abaco.
