With the Commissioner of Police setting the record straight that the abuse of power media claims made by the FNM were “ERRONEOUS,” it is crystal clear that the Chairman of the FNM is a bold faced liar and the entire argument of the FNM crumbles in the face of this. The FNM has no credibility and stands condemned.

The erroneous claims made by the FNM amounted to an accusation of obstruction of justice by the country’s Prime Minister. This behavior is not only reprehensible, but it is rank with dishonesty and FNM leader Dr. Hubert Minnis must do the honourable thing, fire Senator Michael Pintard and apologize to the nation for intentionally misleading them. Dr. Minnis has tried to distinguish himself as a leader who values propriety and is quick to call for the resignation of this and that one at the first instance of impropriety. If Bahamians actually believed the self-righteous rhetoric and indignation coming from Dr. Minnis and the FNM in recent times, I invite them to pay close attention to how Dr. Minnis handles this debacle. Throwing stones are very easy, but I hope that the principles of accountability, honesty and integrity are not foreign to the opposition leader when it comes to his glass house.

I again urge and caution the media not to accept uncritically claims, accusations, bluster or posturing from political parties and entities with clear agenda; this process is part of the public duty of the Forth Estate as it forms the foundation of integrity. There has to be some level of due diligence to ascertain the propriety commentary before the same enters the public domain.

The FNM accused the Prime Minister of what amounted to an impeachable offence only to have the accusation exposed as a big fat lie. Someone must be held accountable for that and if it can’t be done in opposition, then when?
