Prosecutors have objected to bail and has appealed the ruling blocking her release!

Nassau, Bahamas – Breaking News coming into the newsrooms of Bahamas Press at this hour confirms murder accused, Donna Vasyli, has been granted bail a $200,000 bail read this even by Justice Bernard Turner; a decision penned by Justice Stephen Isaac, who is said to be ill.

You would remember Justice Isaacs had denied Vasyli bail after she was denied bail in the lower court, as Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt did not have the jurisdiction to consider bail.

Vasyli was accused of the March 24th murder incident of her husband former well known podiatrist Dr. Philip Vasyli at their Old Fort Bay home.

In an earlier denial of her bail application Senior Justice Isaacs noted the unusual speed in which the bail application appeared in Supreme Court. However, he said that there had been no unreasonable delay in the case nine days after the alleged murder and noted that Mrs Vasyli had not sufficiently satisfied the court that she should be granted bail.

However in the ruling this afternoon Justice Isaacs wrote: “Whether she appears for her trial may have seemed a difficult question on her first or second bail hearing, days and weeks after her arrest respectively, but there is much more gravemen to the applicant’ assertion that she will, including the facts that she has family, homes and a business in the Bahamas.”

And although bail had been granted lawyers must return to court later this afternoon as the prosecution has objected to the decision of the court, and has appealed the ruling, which will block her immediate release.

Isaacs has ordered Vasyli fitted with an ankle bracelet, t report to the Lyford Cay Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays before 6pm. The court asked for surrender of her passport and to reside at Ocean Drive in Old Fort Bay for the duration of her trial.
