NASSAU, Bahamas – A new security facility will be installed at Woodes Rodgers Walk on December 3 for cruise ship passenger screenings. “All of the technology is now available to deal with passengers like at Miami International or Lynden Pindling International Airports,” said Prime Minister the Rt Hon Hubert A Ingraham.

The facility will be owned by the Bahamas Government and paid for by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, he said. It will employ sixteen persons. During a tour of the Nassau Harbour Port Improvement projects earlier, the Prime Minister said a contract will be awarded to Dell Security firm to install the facility.  “We will be able to accommodate several of these huge Genesis Class ships at the same time,” he said. “We are making more docking space available for cruise ships.

“We are the preeminent cruise destination in the Caribbean, the only one where people can come onto the main pier and walk straight into the city. It is one of the beauties of Nassau and we are going to take full advantage of it.” Photo: Prime Minister Hubert A Ingraham (left) and Minister of National Security O A ‘Tommy’ Turnquest during a n earlier tour of harbour projects.
