Nassau, Bahamas — FNM supporters turned out by the hundreds at a rally held at the National Headquarters on Mackey Street on Tuesday, May 6th, on the eve of the 2nd anniversary of the Progressive Liberal Party’s re-election. The enthusiastic crowd waved pompoms and rendered thunderous applause as Party Leader, the Hon. Dr. Hubert A. Minnis ascended to the podium and warmly greeted the crowd with the question, “FNM’s are you ready to take this government back?

Describing the PLP’s performance in office over the last 24 months as “an abysmal failure” Dr. Minnis told the FNM supporters that the PLP government has failed to act on rising crime, failed to produce jobs and failed to deliver on their promises. “They must consider it a masterful achievement that they have delivered on virtually none of their promises to the Bahamian people,” said Dr. Minnis.

Dr. Minnis and wife arrives at last night's rally.

Minnis

Further reprimanding the Christie administration for not doing simple things to make life easier for countless Bahamians, and caring little about sick Bahamians, Dr. Minnis charged that twenty four months of PLP Government has meant misery for tens of thousands of Bahamians and that the Christie led PLP government is failing the Bahamian people on every front. He pointed out that the government over the last 24 months in office has NOT done the following:

Proved that they cannot reduce the number of Bahamians on trolleys in the halls of the Emergency Room at PMH. Some patients, said Dr. Minnis, are there for days and days on end. Meanwhile the new Critical Care Block, built by the FNM remains un-opened, he said.

Opened the Children’s and Adolescents Facility at Sandilands That is still on their “to do” list, Minnis said.

Opened the new Leonard Thompson International Airport in Marsh Harbour.
Dr. Minnis charged the crowd of FNMs to stand up for their rights and the rights of all Bahamians. “Stand up against the PLP and its intimidation. Stand up against their ‘all for them’ policies. FNMs, we are Red and we ain’t scared” said Dr. Minnis. Other speakers included Deputy Leader Loretta Butler-Turner, Peter Turnquest, MP for East Grand Bahama, Neko Grant, MP for Central Grand Bahama, Richard Lightbourn, MP for Montagu, Hubert Chipman, MP for St. Annes, National Chairman Darron Cash and Senator Heather Hunt.
