Bahamians Celebrate Independence in London

London, UK – In commemoration of the 37th Independence Anniversary of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, staff of the Bahamas High Commission, Bahamas Tourist Office and the Bahamas Maritime Authority in London, along with the Bahamian nationals and friends attended Choral Evensong at Westminster Abbey on Thursday, July 8, 2010.

The Dean of the Abby had invited His Excellency Paul Farquharson, Bahamas High Commissioner to London to read the second lesson

His Excellency and Mrs Sharon Farquharson were pleased to welcome nationals to an Independence Party at The Bahamas House on Friday, July 9, 2010. Guests enjoyed native dishes and music from the islands.

His Excellency welcomed guests and invited His Excellency Laleshwar Singh, High Commissioner of Guyana and Dean of the CARICOM High Commissioners, to offer a toast to the health and prosperity of the Government and people of The Bahamas. Taran Mackey, a Bahamian student at Nottingham University, toasted to the health of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
