NASSAU, Bahamas – Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation’s business empowerment lecture series continues Thursday, 7pm, at the College of the Bahamas’ lecture theatre.

Certified public accountant Jerome Gomez will speak on ‘Venture Capital’ and ‘Government Guaranteed Loan’.

It is held in conjunction with the College’s School of Business. The lecture theatre is located in the College’s Culinary and Hospitality Management Institute, Thompson Boulevard.

The free series has been attracting a full house with attendees being drawn from lawyers, hoteliers, restaurateurs, woodcarvers and college students.

“There is great enthusiasm among those attending,” said BAIC’s Business Services Department, assistant manager, Lester Stuart. “There is a thirst for information on business administration among Bahamians.

“We want to sensitize Bahamians to the many business opportunities available to them, and we want to encourage them to exploit these opportunities, and empower themselves to become self employed.”

Topics to be covered in the lecture series include business plan development, government regulations, customer service, e-commerce, accounting, security, linking business with the tourism sector, and testimonials from successful businesspersons.

BAIC is aware of the important role small and medium-sized businesses play in the economy of the Bahamas, especially as they relate to job creation, noted Mr. Stuart.

“We therefore remain committed to assisting them in their development,” he said.
