ROBERTS WAS QUOTED AS SAYING, ” IT HAS TO BE THE HEIGHT OF ALL FOOLISHNESS FOR A ONCE PRESTIGIOUS INSTITUTION AS QUEEN’S COLLEGE TO BECOME A PART OF THE SICK NETWORK CALLED THE FREE NATIONAL MOVEMENT. WHERE WILL THE TRUTH LIE IN THIS MATTER WHEN THE VICE PRINCIPAL IS MRS. My only concern about this story is whether or not the young female gave consent to perform oral sex.This could only be determined if the matter was investigated by Policemen with integrity.I am still perplexed as to why the coverup by the school.Questions and more questions are being asked due to the handling of this sad matter.Did the prefect use his authority to force the female to perform oral sex on him?How come he was not doing likewise?Are the parents or guardians of the female so peeved that they gave the story out? There is only one way to resolve this matter and that is top have an investigation carried out and the chips allowed to fall where they may.
Why should one boy be crucified and a girl exposed because of who the boy’s parents are? These hypocrites are the ones guilty of double standards. And it won’t gain them any political points. To the contrary, decent people, including PLPs, look on with disgust.
I think the newspapers should be careful not to facilitate the scandal-mongers with the misinformation they spew. I was glad to see that The Tribune corrected a report that there was a video of this alleged incident. If there was one going the rounds on the internet as rumoured then it should be easy to produce it.
The truth is that the teacher who was reported to have seen the alleged incident saw nothing. It turns out she was repeating what another student told her.
Some people seem to have the wrong idea about this whole situation. This is not about FNM or PLP, thats where we are going wrong. Lets look at it like this. A 17 yr old boy and a 13 yr old girl. The mere fact that she is under the legal consentual age should be the issue or the concern. Anyone defending the Minister and his son should look at it as being there daughter. Trust i preparing to have a daughter in the next 2 months and i can assure you that if she were to be involve in a case like this(God forbid) there would have to be ACCOUNTABILITY. Wow big word. Since we are making it a political thing, when is there going to be ACCOUNTABILITY of the matter. If there was no validity to the matter, when the news was being circulated the major newspapers would not have gotten involved. I dont care about PLP or FNM, but i do care about the double standard that occur. If it was my son and one of the Ministers daughter, i can assure you my son would have had charges pressed against him. We need to stop covering for the Politicians and there wrong doings. Like Jan said, Mr. Bethel and Mr. Turnquest both with link to this matter, has blamed parents for the violence in the schools, but i guess sexual acts in the school is the responsibility of the child; if he/she is not related to a MINISTER.

ONLY AFTER THE NEWS BROKE ON THE VARIOUS BLOGS DID THE NEWSPAPERS CARRY THE STORY …. 1 MONTH LATER, (YES 1 MONTH LATER) AND EVEN THEN THE VITAL DETAILS WERE OMITTED …… WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE AND HOW.
THE FNM HAS CONTINUALLY BLAMED PARENTS WHEN THERE IS AN INCIDENT ON SCHOOL CAMPUSES … THEY CLAIM THAT THE LACK OF HOME TRAINING AND PARENTAL CONTROL IS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. SO IF THIS IS THE YARD STICK THE FNM USES, THEN CARL BETHEL (A PARENT) IS TO BLAME ….. IF IT IS GOOD FOR THE GOOSE THEN IT’S GOOD FOR THE GANDER.

I think that Lil Bethel & the young lady should have been made an example to their Piers of that school, because of their foolishness embarrass them among them,That is school busines and school business involves our children who are our upcoming society, and they would know by the time they reach that, what is right from wrong and automatically run away from wrong.Confidentiality is a big issue when it comes to our children.

The people on the panel are wrong, Bradley Roberts is wrong and if there was any kind of sweet talking to anybody , that was wrong ok.
The principal, the boss in the Ministry of education and the parents of these children needs to get together with these kids and get them straight they don’t need no panel thats why the government has people in place.And they also need to see the psyche doctor for evaluation.embarrassment changes people and maybe they won’t thing of wrong doings again.

I have seen your articles on the scndal at QC involving families of high-ranking FNM’s.
Let me start by saying that I am PLP but I don’t think that it is right for Mr. Roberts to be as “hard-hitting” as he is doing right now. We all have children and we never know if and when one of our kids may do something stupid which will embarrass us. Even though Mrs. Turnquest and Mrs. laing are wives of Ministers, I think Mr. Roberts should confine his hard-hitting comments to the Public Servants (Ministers) and leave the wives out. Once he states that they are wives of these Ministers, the public will be able to draw their own conclusions without Mr. Roberts having to say anymore.
What I DO WANT to see him hit hard, is the Commissioner of Police, Reginald Ferguson, who is sitting on his ass doing and saying nothing about this JUST BECAUSE it involves FNM Ministers AND the fact that his brother is the Chairman of the FNM. Also, Minister Turnquest is his immediate boss !!!! What were some of those words that Hubert introduced to the Bahamian vernacular back in 1992 …….. nepotism, cronyism, political favouritism ….????? Hmmmmm !!!!
If it had been the child of a PLP Minister he would have been on the news EVERY day pontificating about “no one being above the law”. We are ALL aware of the hatchet jobs he has already done to families of high-ranking PLP’s.

ALSO, Please do not leave out the Tribune and their BIASED reporting of the story. If it were the child of a PLP Minister, their headline would have UNQUESTIONABLY read “Cabinet Minister’s son ………”; instead their headline read “Son of Parliamentarian ……”

I guess it has become abundantly clear that Mr. Laing doesn’t know what “conflict of interest” means. Which acutely renders him unsuitable for a minister’s post.
Mr. Bethel’s moral compass apparently is so broken as to be unable to keep his son on the straight ‘n narrow. A real father would have seen to it that Bethel Jr. would be limping around the campus right now, and not giving other girls “the eye”.

I know I promised to not come back to this site but after I was just called and informed of this new “Breaking News” I could not believe it and had to see it for myself. I cannot admit to having firsthand knowledge of everything that happens in Queen’s College but I feel that I have a very good idea – What a load of baloney!!
BP. Please remind your readers of the law as it relates to lies and defamation of character. Do you stand liable for the things you post on your site which are no true and are damaging to the reputations of others or are you pretty safe to post whatever garbage you want because you operate out of anonymity? If it is true that BP is accountable for its story, then remember that folks can do an IP trace on you back to your ISP to verify the name on the account, check the registration of your domain name and your domain hosting company.
Please be careful what you get yourself caught in. The tenants of your blog is good but some of the comments you post as moderators of the blog are borderline (if not completely) illegal.
I don’t know if anyone remembers, but in high school there were ALWAYS younger girls who liked to get it on with older boys. Not discounting how rude and fresh both these kids are, I don’t think their little school tryst deserves all this attention. I think the time and attention would be better spent on children who are molested by much older persons in positions of authority.
