Bain Town, Nassau Bahamas: The war on New Providence has broken out once again as a hail of bullets on a crowded Augusta Street in the Bain Town area early Saturday morning, claimed the life of three more young persons.

Two of the three victim’s bullet riddled bodies laid dead in the road as police detectives carried out their investigations into the country’s latest triple homicide. The victims were two males in their early thirties and a female in her early twenties. Police described the bodies of the victims as horrific and called for the community to assist them them in solving this latest incident.

Eyewitnesses claim that the three victims were exiting a nightclub in the area and was about to enter a gray Chevy Impala (registration Number 205615), when  gunmen believe to be carrying machine guns opened fire on the three, releasing a hail of bullets on them. The young woman clanged to life but succumbed later to her injuries at the Princess Margaret Hospital, where she sustained more than eight gunshot wounds about her body.

Earlier this week Police discovered the charred remains of a man, burning in the back trunk of a vehicle that was set ablaze just off the Cowpen Road area earlier in the week. And in less then 24 hours detectives again responded to a home invasion in the Jacaranda Street area of Pinewood. There gunmen opened fire on a male and his girlfriend as they slept in their bedroom. The killers reportedly kicked down the door of the home and opened fire on the couple, killing the male and wounding the female.

Police are still without any leads in all five murders and cannot say whether any of the incidents are related. Police are crying for the public’s help in solving these latest homicides. “…we are loosing our soul as a people,” Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Hulan Hanna told reporters.

I remember this headline like yesterday. When these incidents occurred, it was so terrifying; I used to hate to listen to the news. If these incidents that occur one behind the other did not motivate them to start hanging, I don’t know what will.

  3. its time to start hanging those MURDERS we need to do away with the british system and make whats right right hang them that kill and the rest might think twice

  4. PROSE you are not doomed if you were born in the ghetto. Some of the most successful people came from out the ghetto. Your environment does not determine you future. There is no need for these girls to be putting their lives in jeopardy with sleeping with these thugs for material gain that will not last. When you really look at it most of these thugs sleep around and you are putting your health at risk. When they make your a** sick, the money they are giving you will not be enough to pay the doctors.

  5. Drama King most of the times I would agree with statements you have made on this blog, but this is one time I believe we have are on a different accord. One of the most valuable lessons, I have learned from my father who is now deceased is, “if you don’t have something, do without it“. He has thought me to keep my eyes simple. I don’t believe in spoiling these kids, because if you get them used to always having everything they ask for, a day will come when it will not be possible for them to have everything their way. Then what will they do then? Even if you could afford to give your children everything they ask for, sometimes it not good to do it. By giving them everything is not preparing them for hard times. Right now, I go to work for everything I want, I don’t depend on anybody and people and their things don’t move me.

I have big dreams and if it takes me the rest of my life to accomplish all of my goals, I will continue to work towards it. I refuse to sleep with anybody or get involve with anything illegal to make it happen.

  6. PROSE, your statements seem to be filled with “WHAT IFS” !!! When parents have close relationships with their children, raise them right and make them use to the finest things in life, even if that child chooses to stray for some reason or the other, they always get bored and tired of whatever nonsense they are doing and return to the good ways and good life they know.

Dont speak to me with such venom as you would make me assume you are bitter about something. Children who are used to the finest dont go after “fast money” from drug dealers and even if they do, they catch themselves after a while.

Think about it, if your parents give you whatever you need and want and you are close to them, why would you be trying to get the SAME things from some WUTLESS drug dealer?

  7. Hanna boy, lets us stop blaming Jamaicans and Columbians for these killings we know who are the protectors of the local drug dealers (the same institution who protected Carlos “Joe” Lehder’s empire on Norman’s Cay back in the 1980s.)

It is easy to say the murders were done by outsiders. However, the people who should be looking for the killers just might find themselves.

If the killers where outsiders and we have all this information on them, how did they get away so easily?
Is there any effort to extraditing them back here?
And if the killers were outsiders the guns must still be here in Nassau, if the killers can catch a flight back out of town.
I always said nobody could shoot guns better than our local Policemen; they always hit their targets.

  8. DRAMA KING COME ON WE LIVING IN A REAL WORLD NOW. WHAT HAPPEND’S WHEN SHE WANT THAT FAST MONEY WITHOUT ANY QUESTION? WHO KNOWS MAYBE SHE MIGHT BE SMOKING WITH YOU KNOWING LOL OR COULD IT BE THAT SHE JUST LIKE THE WAY THEY DRESS OR ACT. LET’S NOT TALK ABOUT SEX LOL.THE LIST COULD GO ON & ON BUT I WOULD NOT GET IN TO THAT. SO THINK ABOUT IT. AM A YOUNG GIRL LIVING IN THE GHETTO IN FACT I WAS BORN THERE! EVERY DAY IS A MASTERY!

BUT AM GOING TO LEAVE YOU WITH THIS
    ” NO ONE’S PERFECT”

  9. DRAMA KING IT’S SO SAD TO SEE THAT YOU ARE STILL LIVING IN A BOX!IF YOU HAD A DAUGHTER YOU AND YOUR WIFE WOULD GIVE HER ALL OF THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE!WELL THAT’S NO PROBLEM. BUT WHAT HAPPEND’S IF SHE’S STILL NOT HAPPY? WHAT HAPPEND’S IF SHE STILL WANT TO LIKE DRUG DEALERS,THUGS,BAD BOYS,ETC?WHAT WOULD YOU DO THEN? WHAT HAPPEND’S IF SHE JUST AN’T IN TO NOTHING? AFTER ALL YOU THEN TRY.WHAT HAPPEND’S IF SHE JUST SIMPLY A HO.

  10. aintlongnah you are right. I have no daughters but if I did I would see to it that my wife and I give them the finest life and make them want for nothing so that being attacted to drug dealers for material possessions would not be appealing to them in any way.

It must be very painful to see your daughter out there becoming a drug dealer’s ho.

  11. i agree 100 percent with T.I. comments about the all of the junglist and gals who pretend to be decent too who like these thugs and dirty drug dealers for couple dollars. most of them move from one thug to another thug like real community propearty such low morales man totally unbelievable. some of these girls when they get through with this life or when the drug dealers finish with them and now rejecting them these gals kill me when they then try to play decent.

too late because eveybody already know thier history of being loose and just plane and simple bad gals.

  12. TI, you hit the nail on the head. Aint nothing wrong with hard work. Working hard to obtain what you gat never KILLED no body plus you appreciate what you have so much more.

  13. catchin’ ride? musse mean she was ridin’ them. These junglist want to like these dirty drug dealers for couple cents. Life in the fast lane leads to a quick death. They caused mayhem and never got out of the ghetto. I’ve never had a hard day in my life. I work, live comfortably, sleep soundly and most importantly I’m alive.

  14. Well, those five that died in the last couple of days we in this country donot have worry about them involve in anymore crimes. They are gone. Lets us get serious people and see that we really donot have a homicide problem these persons are well known in the crime world and the police. I say if you live by the sword so shall you died by the sword. To hell they go.

  15. @Gofer

    i agree he ain redy.
    neither was mudda pratt.

we need one crazy person to be da minister of national security, dese peoples we dun get is be jokin.

  16. The killers are being hired from Jamaica, Columbia and other countries (more likely Jamaica). They come here, do their gruesome jobs and fly back to Jamaica. This is who most are not found.

  17. When will we get IT! Esculation of crime is indicitive of an attitude of all of society.
While the Government is charged with the responsibility to provide the laws and the means to keep its’ citizens safe it cannot legislate morals or attitudes. We continue to accept the criminal in our midst and sometimes glorify him. When petty crimes are committed we say “give him a break”. Second chances are good but only after an attempt at rehabiliation takes place. When we allow a transgression without any kind of consequence nothing is learned by the perpetrator. He/She gets the idea that there will be no consequence and so onto a more serious crime. In the case of petty crimes it should be mandatory to attend classes and then make restitution even if it is something as simple as asking for forgiveness and promising never to do it again. A little manual labour connected to the crime would re-inforce the idea.
Middle type crimes, if given bail should require that the perpatrator be confined to his abode and with an ankle bracelet until such time as his case can be heard. He/She can be allowed to attend work if a job is there.
The serious crimes should not be allowed bail under any circumstances and treatment should be harsh but humane. No special privileges, visits, food, cell phones. We need to get accross that it is better to be on the outside than on the inside.
While the police can capture a criminal and bring him to court it is out of his hands at that point. To continue to blame the police is counterproductive. One must examine a justice system that seemingly wants to protect the interest of the criminal over that of the victim.
Very few criminals are psychotic. Children must be raised in such a way that they realize their goal is to be a productive member of the society at large. This has not been happening in the Bahamas for some time. Children, not fully formed, are having babies. Men and woman are selfishly interested in their own happiness and willing to participate in the cultural “sweethearting” to the detriment of our society.
We cannot continue to place blame on any entity and thus relieve ourselves of all responsibility. Our own attitude and morals must be examined and then “he who is without sin” may cast the first stone. Mea Culpa

  18. Thanks BP, and ZNS should have been upon their game with something like this. I guess the government of The Bahamas think that all young people in the country are wayward, rebellious and have nothing going for themselves, forgetting that Bahamian students like me are away from our country trying to get an education to better The Bahamas but how can we do that when we cant even keep up with the nes from the national broadcastin company?

  19. The government needs to get serious about fighting crime in our country. They should reintroduce capital punishment. If the laws on the books were being enforced criminals would think twice before committing such heinous crimes. The government failure to enforce the laws is sending a message to criminals that they could kill whoever they feel like and their lives would be spared.

A few years ago, when RND Cinemas, Prince Charles was still in operation an ex-convict came on the line making noise. He and someone else on the line got into an argument. He told everybody on that line, they better don’t say nothing to him cause he would stab everybody up on this line and don’t think nothing about it. One of his friends told him, “Man you just get out, why don’t you behave”. His response was, “And I don’t mind going back either, cause at least went your in jail they does give you free cigarettes and you don’t have to worried about meals“. Well after that nobody on that line said another word. This is the mindset of these criminals. They would murder someone’s father, husband, child, brother, uncle and etc senselessly in a heartbeat. These criminals do not have any feeling about the lives they have affected. All they know is that they will not be punished for their actions. They are prepared to sit in Her Majesty Prison and allow tax payers to take care of them.

  20. Well J’rey we will try our best to do what we can, and ZNS themselves should be doing these kinds of things, but soo much politics is in this country, they cannot see beyond RED and GOLD anymore. And have forgotten how persons like you exist. It WILL Change however, your Bahamas Press will bring change, we assure you of this. The OLD is moving on the side, and we (ME AND YOU) the new are taking over!

Isn’t it also amazing to see how we have requested OVER and OVER and OVER from the Bahamas Information Service (BIS) to supply us with their wire news, so as to allow us the opportunity to share more of what the GOVERNMENT is doing. They themselves have refused us that request, whilst they [BIS] themselves have refused to present it online.

We at Bahamas Press believes we are VICTIMIZED for our articles on BIS. However we hope they judge us in the same when we began on a series exposing that government department. We have given them AMPLE opportunity to hear us, however they choose to avoid our request to that department.

We wonder what they will say when we begin to talk about WICKED SEXUAL ENCOUNTERS OCCURRING IN THAT DEPARTMENT, with some acts so brazen, until they cannot do their jobs to service the public with news. ALL OVER THESE ISLANDS THEY ARE HOPPING AROUND SLEEPING WITH YOU KNOW WHO. But don’t worry, “IT IS LONG NOW!” And for Sir Arthur what we have discovered about him, all we will say is this, SOME PEOPLE HAVE NO SHAME!

  21. the minister of national security appears weak to the criminals. He ain’t got enough bass in his voice.

  22. Hello,

Is there anyway for BP to continue posting those audio clips from ZNS so that I can keep up with the news while I’m away at school? I love to read your site as well, but would also like to see broadcast news from time to time. I tried watching it on another site that has all of the Bahamian radio and tv stations but its not reliable and it always cuts out. Well just wanted to say you guys are doing a good job and keep it up. Please keep bringing ZNS audio clips

  23. T.I. that is the most critical observation I have heard for a long time:” what’s worse that we had five murders or that the killers will get away with it”.

Yes GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER seems to be a culture in the Bahamas. It goes way back from Sir. Harry Oakes, the latest speculations surrounding, Anna Nichole Smith and her son is serious.

It seem we must act NOW and BRING BACK BRITISH observers, to act as Federal Government, and oversee the RBPF.
I have personal experience how a few corrupt officers can function, it is scary, TRUST ME ON THAT!
Know this, we should carefully study Rwanda’s history, and we will see there are some similar patterns The RBPF are adapting to.

  24. It is amazing when one thinks about how the Minister of National security put on a big show last year and said it was the panacea for crime what a joke. Then to top it off he put his cousin in charge of the Police Force and despite what he was told by memebers of Parliamen during the debate on the budget he again made him acting deputy Commissioner of Police.Nepotism to the tee.I am informed from reliable sources that last week top Officers from the RBPF reported sick when Tommy again made a junior man acting deputy knowing that wrong.Criminals know jokers are in charge of the Police Force right now and they are loving it.Whjo is in charge of the country ,the failure Tommy or Hubert? We are dropping the ball on tghe one yard line so am demanding that my Government remove the Minister from the Police and put him wherever.

  25. It is sickening. Remember now we have a new Minister of Immigration who says he has immigration matters under control. I guess they are patrolling the street looking for immigrants but not watching the Detention Centre….what next?

  26. …and to make matters worse, I hear Ingraham geting ready to move Scavella because he too STRICT! Can you believe that.

  27. News Flash! More immigrants escape from the detention center yesterday and not a word from the government or the press as yet. Where in the world is Tommy Turnquest? Hello, is anybody home in the Ministry of National Security? This government is “WUTLESS”.

  28. erryone no da police dem ain no wat goin on.
dem is da same set dat is try say erry car accident waz cause by speed, wen da main factors is drunk drivin or peoples just carnt drive.

  29. Media,

Its a crying shame when the evidence is so clear but the police make such retarded statements. Its like they think the public is made up of fools.

We are living in perrilous times. I think of lot of those deaths are revenge murders.

  30. Upon the discovery of the charred remains police initially told members of the WUTLESS Press in this country, that they had not concluded whether that incident was a homicide.

When will we in this country acknowledge that SOMETHING has TERRIBLY GONE WRONG IN THIS COUNTRY? And without any kind of critical thinking, THE WUTLESS MEDIA in this town refused to report this incident as a murder?

Now if police can find a dead man burned in a car hacked to death and believed he chopped himself up, put his pieces in a bag and then set his own car ablaze, then The Bahamas is far gone beyond violence. We have a greater problem, for the competence to solve crimes are erased in this country.

  31. These are the signs of the last and evil days. 3 persons shot one time, I have never heard these type of things happening in our country before.
