PLP Chairman Bradley Roberts

The earthly sojourn of the matriarch of the Davis family came to a quiet end this morning and it is with mixed emotions that the family of the Progressive Liberal Party mourns her passing while celebrating her long and fruitful life coupled with her endearing and enduring legacies.

Dead is Mrs. Dorothy Davis, mother of the Deputy Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Minister of Works and Urban Development and the Honourable member for Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador.

The communities of Exuma Island and Cat Island have lost a revered leader and the Davis family has lost a loving, stern and nurturing mother. I have had the rare pleasure of knowing Mrs. Davis in a professional capacity as we worked for the same company in the private sector and so I know firsthand that her professional deportment was one of resourcefulness, reliability and hard working.

Her legacies are many and the PLP is grateful to be the beneficiary of one of our legacies in the person of our Deputy Leader and Deputy Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis. He is a nation builder, national leader, political leader, a jurist par excellence, businessman and legislator.

On behalf of the Progressive Liberal Party, I extend my profound condolences and deepest sympathy to the children, especially Brave and Don, her grandchildren and her host of relatives during their time of loss and grief and we do so in the knowledge that God’s grace is sufficient.
May her soul and the souls of the dearly departed rest in peace.
