Nassau, Bahamas – From telegraphs and morse code, to landlines, beepers, internet and cellphones….BTC has certainly come a long way!
All month long, we celebrated 50 years of telecommunications in the Bahamas. For well over a century, Bahamians have stayed connected thanks to the ever evolving and pioneering efforts of the country’s first communications provider. In 1966, The Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation, or BaTelCo, officially became what it is today, and in the past 50 years, the company has changed the way that Bahamians communicate with each other, and the entire world.
From Abaco all the way down to Inagua, BTC has been there, connecting Bahamians, supporting communities, embracing our country’s culture, and nurturing the nation’s youth.
BTC has touched every island, and will continue to do so.
This is we country, and we are proud to support our Bahamaland.
Here’s to another 50 years of progress.
