Super COP of Police, Ellison Greenslade appoints ACP Steven Seymour to top brass.

Nassau, Bahamas — Officers around the country are expressing joy following the announcement of by the Commissioner of Police to promote one of their own.

A statement issued yesterday read, “The Commissioner of Police is pleased to announce that in accordance with Article 119(2) of the Constitution; His Excellency, the Governor General, has approved the appointment of Mr. Stephen Seymour to the substantive rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police with effect from 1 July, 2012.”

Mr. Steven Seymour joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force on 23 September 1975. He spent most of his policing career in CID now known as the Central Detective Unit.

Sources on the Force confirmed that the delayed promotion was a long time coming.

“He is a capable officer who has made and will continue to make a valuable contribution to the institution. Mr. Seymour’s appointment comes with the full blessing of the Commissioner of Police, who for the first time is delivering full control of the force without political interference. Crime is down, and the COP’s plan to stem violence and present a peaceful society is now taking shape.”

It is with a deep sense of sadness and regret that the Commissioner of Police records the death of Retired Police Chief Inspector Wilfred Jack Sr.

Condolences are extended to the family and close friends of Mr. Jack Sr.

Funeral Service for the late Local Constable Hubert Alex Newman

Funeral Services for the late Local Constable Hubert Alex Newman will be held at 11:00 am on Friday 30th November, 2012 at Evangelic Assembly, Baillou Hill Road and Flemming Street.

The service will be conducted by Rev. Sharon Nairn assisted by Father Stephen Davies, Force Chaplin & Education Officer and other Ministers of the Gospel.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Clarkes Funeral Home, Tonique Williams Darling Highway. Interment will follow at the Infant View Cemetery.

R/Cpl. 912 Hubert Newman enlisted in the Royal Bahamas Police Force on the 24th September, 2007 and was attached to the Police Tourism Unit.
