Defence Force Conducts Search for Missing Boater

Teams still looking for second occupant in boat accident…

Coral Harbour Base, 02 OCT ‘16 (RBDF)… The Royal Bahamas Defence Force assisted by the Royal Bahamas Police Force, are currently searching for a missing person following a boating accident at approximately 8:30 pm involving a Defence Force Harbour Patrol vessel and a 13’foot skiff last night.

Two persons were onboard the 13-ft fiber glass skiff in Nassau Harbour, north of Bay Street Marina. Immediately after the accident one of the occupants of the vessel was recovered from the water by the Defence Force and appeared to be unharmed. An immediate search was commenced by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force vessels for the second occupant.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force vessels along with Defence Force divers and shoreline search teams and Royal Bahamas Police Force Marine Unit are currently searching for the second occupant of the vessel despite the rainy and windy weather conditions. None of the crewmembers of the Defence Force vessel suffered any injuries. The incident is also under investigation by the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
