Nassau, Bahamas — BP is reporting a police officer has died in the line of duty.
DEU officer Inspector Archibald “Archie” Miller is the name of the fallen officer who was shot last week as he was assisting in a sting operation.
Miller was shot to the chest and underwent major surgery at Doctor’s Hospital.
After gallons of blood were donated to sustain the officer, Miller died today. BP offers are deepest sympathies to the family of the fallen officer and the entire RBPF family.

You Know what Poody Cat- I hope the relative your talking about is not Walden Mitchell-the man who gun butted his girlfriend then shot a police officer in the face who was trying to his job and also terrorized a number of persons with a firearm before he met his end….Archie death was accidental despite what many people may say, his death and your psycho relative deaths cannot be compared, the CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING BOTH ARE DIFFERENT so whats your point? For you and all those people out there who speculating you weren’t there, you don’t know the circumstances so stop talking mess.. I guess you’d rather ya crazy relative have not been shot down so he could kill a few more police and innocent people because to you and the rest of you stupid people out there as long as it doesn’t touch you its okay..get real and GET THE FACTS which will come in due course. Archie we know it’s hard knowing that your not with us, the laughter, the joy, and the fun filled moments we had will always be remembered. We prayed and asked God to work a miracle to keep you alive, but we didn’t understand that the miracle was taking place in a different way. As a soldier, God saw your pain, your hard work, and the torture you went through, the good character that they tried to destroy even long before your incident, so He said “you have fight the cost, you have ran the race, and you have kept the faith, now come home to me my son where there is no corruption and rest your soul as a soldier in my army.” That was one of the miracles that many might not understand. The other miracle that is about to take place would be in the natural for all to see. May your soul Rest in Peace.

i know im late to this. but tina who ever u are i am the daughter of walden mitchell and the neice of archibald miller. my dad did no such thing! because he was with me at the time! people always go by rumors or word of mouth. when you assume stuff you are not sure about and post it in public who is the a$$/u/me? sigh. God Will punish all of the wicked and dishonest. i lost my father and my uncle this year. the two strongest men i ever knew. the only police i can trust is God! the only person i can put my trust in is God.

May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared, comfort you now and in the days ahead. God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around Archie and whispered “come to me.” With tearful eyes you watched, and saw Archie pass away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

This is my brother i will always miss. We havent been together for a while. I knew his job had some tragic tolls, but i didnt expect this. I love you Archie, your family, I’ll greatly miss you. (i cant believe this is happening to me) ;( now i have to go on without you again in my life…

Archibald Miller was a good God fearing man! He stood for order and decency. He lived a open life and held on to is honor up until the very end. He did not take bribes and would not be compromised. The RBPF lost one of their best yesterday. His family members are besides themselves with grief, especially knowing that even through persecution he chose to walk the honest road. “DD” do not assume on things you know nothing about!! Archibald Miller was indeed and HONEST COP AND A GOOD MAN!!!!

For those of you who don’t know what had transpire, STOP assuming and pointing fingers, instead allow the families, friends, love ones and colleagues to grieve his untimely passing.
I am sorry for the officer who lost his life and my condolences to his family,but regardless whether you want to hear it or not shot more than once doesnt sound right,a full investigation needs to be carried out as to why and how an experienced officer can be accidentally shot by one of his own men?where were the others?every one of them needs to be questioned and if it was an accident then thats what it was ,they just need to be honest and tell the truth,we may be wrong but none of us were there so we cant speculate as to what really happened but i hope the truth will be told so as to not smear the other officers,because after all they lost a colleague and from what i have been hearing a very good one R.I.P Inspector Miller.

You know there are a lot of corruption in our little Bahamas with few persons standing against them and each time they do their lives become a target. This have the making of one and my gut feeling is telling me and with out any facts that their is more. The officer was a known and dedicated person and i regret his untimely death by these means. Sympathy to his family and I will be monitoring this one. Some years ago another officer was killed for the information he had to silence him and I dont recall justice.

i wit you Archer Sr….theres no way thats an accident…thats a murder…and theres no way an inspector going on a scene like that with no bullet proof vest…i think they strategically shot him in an area the bullet proof vest couldnt cover properly like in his side or something…up closer to her arm pit area…but its a sad story tho and i preay the best for the family…but Mr Archer i wit you totally…cuz that just doesnt add up to me…and if it was an accident…the police chief’s would’ve been telling the media more details about it and conveying the story beind it like they usually do when something drastic happens and not being so tight-lipped…something’s fishy tho…thats my take on it
I DON’T KNOW THE FULL STORY YET BUT AS HARD AS IT IS TO SAY, I’M GONNA HAVE TO AGREE WITH ARCHER SR TO A POINT,HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED,THERE HAS TO BE MORE TO THIS STORY & WHY OFFICER ARE STILL NOT PROPERLY EQUIPPED WITH ARMOR VEST ESPECIALLY DURING SUCH HIGH & RISKY OPERATION.,I’VE HAD THE PLEASURE OF WORKING WITH ARCHIE FOR A SHORT TIME THE WAY HE DID THINGS BACK THEN I CAN’T SEE HIM WALKING INTO THE LINE OF FIRE LIKE THAT HE ALWAYS WAS CAUTION OF EVERYTHING,I CAN TRULY SAY THAT THE RBPF HAS LOST A TRUE SOLDIER. I will miss you cuz. You have shown how much you love your country. You gave your life for her.You can kill the flesh but the spirit lives on forever. I will not accept someone being shot more than once as an accident.

I find it difficult to believe that the officer who shot Mr. Miller had no idea who he was. There seems to be more to this than what is being mentioned. There’s no way a gun can go off multiple times by accident with such pin point accuracy.
Get real… I too was shot 2 years ago and it’s not a nice feeling. I hate it when people lose their lives so carelessly. I am of the opinion that he was murdered…

@ Eagle….I so concur w/ u…some ppl really don’t know what to say… Sometimes it seems like certain Bahamians take enjoyment out of turning any story no matter the size or significance into a controversy…I honestly dislike when persons comment on a death story with rubbish and base their opinions on how they feel as opposed to actual facts…give your respect to the dead for one and stop trying to dig for a story…sometimes it just is what it is.

A valiant young dedicated and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and colleague has lost his life. Let us remember him for what he stood for, in the war against crime. A model officer who went beyond the call of duty to make the Bahamas a safer place, is one of the reasons why we should NOT let his death be in vain. Let ALL Bahamians and Law Enforcement Agencies within the Commonwealth of the Bahamas stand as a unified body to continue our quest to eliminate the fear of crime. To the family, I pray you find peace and comfort in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I know the pain of his untimely death is hard, but trust in God and he will soothe your pains. Oh yes He cares, I know he cares, His heart is touch with your grief, when the days are dreary and the long nights weary, I know our Saviour cares. To the dedicated officers of the RBPF, in particular those whose duties where supervised by Inspector Miller, be strong and know that Christ is our strength. Let us continue praying for his immediate and extended families.

As a victim of gun crime i know how it feels to be shot. I was lucky because i got yo the hospital very quickly and had lots of prayers and excellent medical care.Our police a always at risk. and, they always have to be alert not only to criminals but also to negligence by other officers. its a mess.
