Four shot in Saturday driveby outside MP home in Eastern New Providence

Nassau, Bahamas — Police are reporting a horrific incident, which occurred just outside the home of an MP that forced four persons to be taken to hospital.

Sources tell us the MP was hosting a big party at his residence when the incident occurred.

According to police reports, around 1:00am on Saturday. The victims were attending a party at a residence located on Sassoon Drive, when the occupants of a vehicle passed by and discharged gunshots at several persons on the outside of the residence and sped off.

As a result a 23-year old male sustained a gunshot to the right arm, a 22-year old male sustained a gunshot to the side, a 20-year old male sustained a gunshot to the chest and a 15-year old male sustained a gunshot in the hand. All of the victims were taken to hospital and where they are being treated for the injuries sustained.

The victims injuries are being described as not life threatening.

A 2008 silver Honda Accord vehicle was also damaged during this incident.

POLICE ARREST FORMER AIRPORT EMPLOYEE FOR DAMAGE TO LPIA ARRIVAL CENTER

Lynden Pindling International Airport Nassau, Bahamas.

A 26-year old former employee of Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) is police custody after he was arrested on Saturday 22nd December 2012 for causing major damages to the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) Arrival Center.

According to police, the former baggage handler was taken into custody on Saturday 22nd December 2012, for causing major damages in the amount of $35,000 dollars to a conveyer belt, a flight monitor and a glass door at the LPIA Arrival Center.

Police expect to file charges against this former employee early next week.

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING HOMICIDE
IN ANDROS

RBPF Homicide Detectives are investigating the apparent murder of 42-year-old Haitian
Male of South Andros and is asking the public’s help for information.

According to police, on Saturday 22nd December 2012 around 8:30 a.m., the victim was found on the side of the road in South Andros suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. The victim was pronounced dead by the island’s local doctor who visited the scene.

A team of Central Detective Unit Officers is presently in Andros investigating this matter.

POLICE ARREST SHOOTING AND STABBING SUSPECTS

A 26-year old male of Windsor Lane and a 23-year male of Rupert Dean Lane are detained in hospital in stable condition under heavy police guard as a result of a shooting and stabbing incident on Saturday 22nd December 2012.

According to police reports, around 4:00pm both men were involved in an altercation at
John Road resulting in the 26 year old stabbing the 23 year old to the chest and the 23year old shooting the 26 year old to the left thigh.

Police are actively investigating this matter.

CENTRAL DIVISION CONDUCT POLICE OPERATION

In keeping with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan 2012 priority one (1) which speaks to Tackling Crime and priority number four (4) which speaks to Enforcing the

Rules of the Road, officers from the Central Division conducted an operation in their Division between 8:00pm on Friday 21st December 2012 and 4:00am on Saturday 22nd December 2012.

The objectives of the operation were to: Identify and cite all traffic violators and to Identify and arrest anyone who were in violation of the law. The operation resulted in the following:

• Forty-two (42) drivers cited for various traffic violations
• 2 Persons arrested on outstanding warrants
• 2 Persons arrested for Drugs
• 2 Persons arrested for armed Robbery
• 1 Person arrested for Assaulting a Police Officer, Disorderly Behaviour

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN STUDENT MURDER PROBE

A 27-year old male of New Providence is in police custody assisting police with the investigation of the recent murder of Javel Gardiner that occurred on Thursday 22nd December 2012 at Hawthorne Road.

Shortly after 4:00pm on Saturday 22nd December 2012, officers from the Central Detective Unit arrested the suspect in connection with this matter.

Police expect to file murder charges against this suspect early next week.

The following suspects are to appear in the magistrate’s court on Monday 24th December
2012 at 11:00am.

• A 20-year old male of Strachan’s Alley for the Murder of Dequan Clarke that occurred on Thursday 20th December 2012.

• A 27-year old male of Fawkes Court off Hawthorne Road for the Murder of Javell Gardiner that occurred on Thursday 22nd November 2012.

• A 26 year old male of Pinewood Gardens and a 18 year old male of Market Street for Six (6) counts of Armed Robbery (Bump & Rob Incidents)

• A 38 year old male of Jones Height’s for Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm

• A 26-year old male of Coral Lakes for Causing Major Damages to the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) Arrival Center.
