Why has all this violence surfaced following Hurricane Matthew?
Nassau, Bahamas – Police were called into the community of Nassau Village today where a female had been shot.
Shortly after 9:00am on Thursday 20th October 2016, a woman was standing in front of her home with two women located at Matthew Street, Nassau Village, when two males in a grey Honda Accord vehicle armed with firearms pulled up and shot her before speeding off.
Why the woman was sought after are still unknown, however, we understand the victim was on Matthew Street when the incident unfolded.
She has survived the incident and is in hospital.
Meanwhile in another incident, police around 4:30pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Sunset Park off Carmichael Road, when they saw three suspicious males riding in a white Honda vehicle.
The males on seeing the officers sped off. The officers gave chase and one of the males threw a handgun out of the vehicle. The chase ended when the males ditched their vehicle on Pampono Court before fleeing on foot. After a short foot chase the officers arrested the three males. The handgun was recovered and found to be a .40 pistol with seven rounds of ammunition.
