FIVE IN CUSTODY FOR DRUGS AND FIREARM POSSESSION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit took into custody five adult males following the seizure of an illegal firearm and a quantity of drugs on Wednesday 13, April 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 7:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant on a home located on Pilgrim Street off Farrington Road where they uncovered over three (3) pounds of marijuana along with a 9 millimeter handgun. The five (5) adult male residents of the home were subsequently arrested for questioning reference to this discovery.

ELEUTHERA MAN IN CUSTODY FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Meanwhile more drugs have been seized from a home in Eleuthera.

Reports are that around 12:00noon, officers from the Eleuthera Division conducted a search of an adult male in Governor’s Harbour where they found a small quantity of marijuana in his possession. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody. The officers then conducted a search of the suspect’s home located in Gregory Town here they uncovered over three (3) pounds of marijuana.

HANDGUN SEIZED

Reports are that shortly after 12:00noon on Thursday 14th April 2016, a team of officers from Selective Enforcement Team, acting on information went to a track road off Carmichael Road East, where they found a .357 handgun with 2 rounds of ammunition in an abandoned truck. No one was arrested for this discovery.

CUTLASS-WIELDING MAN SHOT BY POLICE

Reports are that shortly before 7:00am on Thursday 14th April 2016, police received a report of a suspicious man lurking in the bushes in Ferguson Estates off Carmichael Road.

Police responded and were confronted by an adult male armed with a cutlass.

The male was shot after he charged at police with the cutlass.

The suspect was then transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition.
