Freeport, Grand Bahama – Police on Grand Bahama are investigating an armed robbery. At approximately 11:00am on Thursday 17th March 2016 a female resident of Freeport reported that while walking on Lovers Beach, Hepburn Town, Eight Mile Rock she was approached by two masked men. One of the men was armed with a handgun and the other with a crow. They demanded and robbed her of cash and other property. They then fled the scene on foot in an eastern direction making good their escape. Both men were described as being between 6′ 2″- 6′ 4″ in height and wore dark clothing.
Police are actively investigating this matter and are seeking any information from members of the public that may assist in solving this crime.
“Operation Turf Sweep- Grand Bahama”
Operation Turf Sweep continues to be effective in disrupting criminal activities on Grand Bahama. In a dragnet officers assigned to this special unit between the hours of 8:00pm and 11:00pm o Thursday 17th March 2016 arrested three persons.
In the first instance officers while in the Hunters area observed a male acting in a suspicious manner, who was standing on the side of the road. He was approached, searched and a small quantity of suspected marijuana was found in his pants pocket.
The 29 year old resident of Hunters was arrested for the offence.
In the second incident officers while in the Bartlette Hill, Eight Mile Rock area observed a male acting in a suspicious manner, who was sitting on a wall outside an apartment building. He was approached, searched and a quantity of items was found on him. When questioned he could not give a satisfactory account for the items, which were suspected to have been unlawfully gained. The 17 year old resident of Eight Mile Rock was arrested for the offence.
In the third instance officers while in the Jones Town, Eight Mile Rock area observed a male smoking while at the Fish Fry. acting in a suspicious manner. He was approached, searched and a suspected marijuana cigarette was seized from him. The 39 year old resident of Hunters was arrested for the offence.
