This was the scene today where that mother - ON MOTHER's Day -got the news that her 5-month-old child perish in a house fire on Amos Street.

Nassau, Bahamas — An inner city community is in mourning tonight after a child perished in a wild apartment fire on Mother’s Day.

BP can report a five (5) month old baby girl perished in a house fire and a 30-year-old man was injured as he attempted to rescue the infant from the blaze.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 2:00 pm police received information of a house fire at Amos Ferguson Street, south of Cordeaux Avenue was actively being fought by locals.

By the time officers and fire teams arrived on the scene they met high raging flames and heavy smoke emanating from the second floor of a two storey, brown coloured stone building.

The child was later discovered burnt beyond recognition after fire fighters extinguished the blaze.

The 30-year-old man received injuries to his left arm and was treated at the scene by EMS personnel.

The incident is painful indeed and many are asking; where was the mother?
