LETTER WRITER SAYS: “Why isn’t Mr Fiaux simply saying, ‘my bad’.” IMMIGRATION OFFICERS SIMPLY FOLLOWED THE RULES!!! – Shame on Ryan Pinder for going around wiping the asses of expats who are suffering the consequences of their own poor judgment.

DEAR EDITOR,

Morning BP, sometimes, I just don’t know what to say!

A foreigner leaves his home without his immigration papers and coincidentally gets stopped by immigration and is held by the detention center until his status is confirmed. What is wrong with that? Isn’t that proper protocol? The Immigration officers executes this procedure daily.

I cant believe at times the way this government overreacts to things. The error was 100% on Mr Fiaux of UBS. If he had his papers, he wouldn’t have been taken to the detention center for verification. It’s that simple. Why isn’t Mr Fiaux simply saying, “my bad.” He should be, as this incident would have been avoided had he used better judgment.

Explain to me why the immigration officers should have let him go? Everyday Haitians, Jamaicans, Africans, Cubans, Asians and other earthly creatures are hauled to the detention center until their status can be verified. If your a foreigner and don’t have your immigration documents on you in this day and age of terrorism and Lyford Key residents gun smuggling and toad poisoning, immigration officers must do due diligence. That policy of verification is there for a reason, and those at the Tribune and Financial Services sector are suggesting that the policy should be ignored when it comes to expats? Really? Why are they promoting double standards and encouraging slackness?

Being WHITE and dressed in a suit doesn’t mean a thing. The law is the law. The Immigration officers did their job and shame on the government for not standing up and supporting the officers. If your a foreigner, CARRY YA DAM PAPERS! If not, it is a matter of national security if undocumented people are in your country moving freely, planning only God knows what!

Then you have your favorite anti Bahamian bigot, Mr Dionisio D’Aguila, the Super Wash man, spewing his normal anti Bahamian crap. When was the last time you heard this man say anything positive about Bahamians? Emperor D’Aguila has on no clothes. He is the Tribune’s favorite black businessman.

Shame on the government for their over reaction. Shame on Ryan Pinder for going around wiping the asses of expats who are suffering the consequences of their own poor judgment. I’m so disappointed in him right now!

What is wrong is not the actions of the immigration officers. They were following protocol. If the policy is bad, then remove it and publicly announce it so that we all in the Bahamas and the world would know that in the Bahamas, our laws are 100% discriminatory. If your a white expat, come on down and do what you want.

It is starting to look like the slogan “Bahamians first” was just a bunch of hot air.
