Nassau, Bahamas — Breaking News coming into Bahamas Press now confirms 8 of the 11 men held for extradition to the United States of America are at this hour on board a flight to the US.
BP agents on the ground tell us the men include the key person of interest, Melvin Maycock, who took authorities on the judicial rollercoaster all boarded two flights this morning.
In November Justices Anita Allen, Abdulai Conteh, and Neville Adderley affirmed the ruling of the Supreme Court and ordered the committal of the appellants to prison to await their extraditions.
In 2013, the magistrate presiding over the extradition proceedings ruled that there was sufficient evidence for the men to answer allegations of their involvement in a multi-national drug smuggling organization, as alleged by the US government in 2004 when the request was made.
The group failed in a bid to have their matter heard before the Privy Council last week and this morning two aircrafts left LPIA headed for Florida!
