Mitchell defends the Bahamas for Bahamians!
Barbados – Fred Mitchell MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs, went after the Grand Bahama Human Rights Association directly this evening while speaking to Bahamian students in Barbados at the Cave Hill campus of the University of the West Indies. He called them unstable and hypocritical.
Mr. Mitchell said that the Grand Bahama Human Rights Association had become experts at creating a false picture of ‘victimhood” and that they operated as hypocrites. He said that while one of their leaders Fred Smith QC was saying that he was defending human rights and attacking the Minister personally, he was coming “like Nicodemus in the night asking for favours for work permits to be granted to clients and family members. “
In the case of Joe Darville, another member of the Association, he said that Mr. Darville had been defending illegal migration in public but in private telling Haitian pastors that they must tell their people to leave the country.
The Minister was speaking at the annual Bahamas Week Celebrations in Cave Hill at the University of the West Indies.
