We can report the 25-year-old Calvin Stuart is the victim. Stuart we can confirm got into an altercation with his girlfriend and her brothers. The deceased was stabbed multiple times about the body and died on the scene. Readers should note Stuart was a rising star in the Hugh Campbell Basketball Championship. He was a member of the Tabernacle Falcons and was coached by Norris Bain. BP is also reporting a 6th murder for the month of July which occurred on Grand Bahama this morning. Nassau, Bahamas — Breaking News coming out of Freeport Grand Bahama this morning confirms the country’s 5th murder for July.

We can tell you the victim was 25-years-old male, however, his name is unknown at this time. The incident occurred around 11pm last night in the Redwood Lane area. We can report the victim was stabbed multiple times about the body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating.

OFFICERS OF THE MOBILE DIVISION MAKE FIREARM ARREST

A 17-year-old male of 2nd Street, Coconut Grove is in police custody after being found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. According to police reports around 11:23 pm on Monday 9th July, 2012 police received information of gunshots being heard in the area of Wilson Tract. Police responded and on arrival observed three (3) males inside a blue Nissan Titia acting suspiciously.

Attempts were made to stop the vehicle however, the driver sped off. Police pursued the vehicle and arrested one of the males after the vehicle collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Palm Beach Street and Wulff Road. The other two (2) men were able to evade police. Active police investigations continue.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ALLEGED DROWNING

Police are investigating the drowning of a 33-year-old male whose body was discovered floating near a Jet Ski on Adelaide Beach. According to reports the incident occurred around 7:30 pm on Tuesday 10th July, 2012.

The victim, a resident of Adelaide Village was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Active police investigations continue.

Police mourns the Death of DSP Kenneth Andrews

BP is reporting the death of another fine officer of the law. In a press statement Commissioner of Police, Ellison Greenslade, announced the death of Retired Deputy Superintendent Kenneth Andrews, who died on Saturday 7th July, 2012.

DSP Andrews enlisted in the Royal Bahamas Police Force on 29th August, 1950 and served with distinction for thirty (30) years.

Funeral services for retired DSP Andrews will be held at 10:30 am on Friday 13th July, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Robinson Road.

Condolences are extended to the family and friends of the late DSP Kenneth Andrews.
