NASSAU, The Bahamas – Thirty graduates of the Second Cohort Patient Care Assistant (PCA) training programme were presented their certificates in a Graduation Ceremony at Government House, April 20, 2016.
Making the presentations were Governor General Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling, Minister of Health the Hon. Dr. Perry Gomez, Public Hospitals Authority Chairman Senator the Hon. Frank Smith, and Public Hospitals Authority Managing Director Herbert Brown. Senior nursing officers Cheryl Bain, Lillian Charlton, Thelma McKenzie, Valerie Miller, and Joeanna Belle-Curry (course coordinator) moderated and presented special awards.
The PCA certificate programme is internationally-recognized and provides instruction in the Nursing Support Staff role, further equipping very dedicated male and female attendants and nursing auxiliaries in the hospital system. This particular group comprised 19 students from Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre and 11 from the Princess Margaret Hospital. Thirteen are Nursing Auxiliaries and 17, Attendants.
Their training programme was of 14 weeks’ duration.
