Nassau Bahamas — Another PLP is headed before the courts. Bahamas Press is learning that Picewell Forbes will appear before Justice Anita Allen and face a contempt of court charge after making an incorrect announcement last evening at the PLP Convention.
Forbes after an abrupt air of jubilation in the crowd announced live on TV, “Pleasant Bridgewater is a free woman PLPs“. However at the time of the announcement the jury was still in deliberations.
Bahamas Press notes the announcement by Forbes could result in jail time. Forbes was delivered a citation by police for his announcement.
BP’s court reporter will be in the High Court tomorrow when Forbes will face Allen at 10 AM Friday.

Justice Anita Allen ordered Picewell to return to court on Thursday. His lawyers requested time to prepare for an answer.

I agree with mr.Forbes being charged for contempt,however an investigation needs to be conducted to find the source of this GOSSIP/LIE.I will also like to extend KUDOS TO JUSTICE ALLEN for dealing in such a HIGH PROFESSIONAL WAY WITH THIS CASE but now i have a few questions that i need answered.These questions are as follows-#1 Members of a sequested jury ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE ANY COMMUNICATION DEVICES,were the members of this jury searched by the proper authorities?#2 Police are supposed to be outside the doors of a sequested jury to prevent any INTERFERENCE by the public,was this procedule followed?#3 Since this jury was still DELIBERATING did any police officer or court official BROKE THE LAW AND COMMUNICATED WITH THE JURY?#4 Did any police/court official started or spread this MALICIOUS LIE?#5 Who NOTIFIED JUSTICE ALLEN that the jury may have been compromised?#6 Who notified the director of prosecutions,BERNARD TURNER that mr.Forbes annouced the return verdict of the jury?#7 Justice ALLEN repeated several times that she was VERY,VERY RELUCTANT TO DECLARE A MISTRIAL,WAS ANY EXTERNAL FORCE EITHER FROM THE AG’S OFFICE OR ELSE WHERE BEING APPLIED TO THE GOOD JUSTICE?I need the answers to these questions especially since it HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED THAT THE JURY WAS ASKING FOR MORE TIME TO DELIBERATE.I hope members of the public are aware that those members of this jury need an investigation to be completed to remove any SMEAR ON THEIR GOOD NAMES ALSO.

Thank you so much for saying that. These people focus too much on small things. We have a lot to do to build our nation up. Instead all we do is tear each other down. I already volunteer. It is truly a blessing for me to be able to help someone else. You’d be surprised how much you can impact someone else’s life just be being around. This country is rotten to its core. Everyday we hear about Bahamians wanting change. When will we realize that it doesn’t matter at all who runs this country. It matters how much we invest in nation building. Stop running your mouth and START DOING SOMETHING…….ANYTHING BAHAMAS. If you don’t do anything, you shouldn’t say anything.
What if we decide that we have better things to do in the Bahamas like getting the children up to the standard of reading necessary to be able to assist us in a prudent way when we enter our senior years.I introduced a few kids to the libary for the first time .I am at the urban renewal ceter in the englerston community from 4pm-5pm we need help with programs that we will need in order to stop the social and moral decay.We need to help the Bahamas and what we need not do is wait on some body to do it for us.Volunteer today, the children need you Bahamas

THAT’S WHY THIS CASE WILL NEVER COME BACK UP
One can never be too sure about these things. What I do know is that there is more than one side to a story. No one is commenting on the fact that the jury should have been shut off from any outside influences. NO MEDIA, NO TV, No phone contacts…….NOTHING. We are so quick to pass judgements on issues many of us have no clue about. It seems to me that people are attacking Picewell more because of his affiliation, forgetting the fact that he was just supporting a former MP. I think it’s ridiculous to believe that he schemed to affect the outcome. I remember when I used to come on this site every day just to see what people had to say. We judge others so quickly and wonder why the this country is suffering. I look at the comments and I am saddened.
You know what isn’t fair? Pleasant is a smart woman, a woman who should be admired by ones who aspire but can’t, the ones who looked to her for direction. With that I say she should have known better so let the chips fall where they may. I just cant believe how some people agree or see injustice for crime and criminals. Lord Bless my country cause we some special set of people.
The question remains will Trovolta have a fair case at the SECOND TRIAL?????….. Mr. Ducile is a wicked brilliant man he will try to manipulate better because he know what the witness ga say and about the evidence….. IT WONT BE A FAIR TRIAL!

I feel bad for Forbes, but he should have known better and just waited.
I would like to know who informed him of that decision made by the jurors. Either the person who told him was lying and wasnt expecting him to broadcast it like the way he did or there really was a juror who was communicating to people on the outside and their deliberations was passed on and reached Soca forbes.
The root here is that someone either lied to Forbes or there was a juror leaking info. But either way, Forbes should have kept his mouth shut.

I agree we all make mistake, how many are we entitle to? This isn’t no fly by night he knows better I will be the first to admit that am not perfect. This case is being follow by many all over the world and am tired of hearing those bahamian have no laws or we don’t no how to enforced them. Lets say enough is enough people we are all now being look on as bananas. Put politic aside and start putting are foot down.
Who will be the new Prosecutor? I know who the Judges will not be for the retrial.

If it was true, don’t you think it would have been better for a senior person to make the announcement? Thank God Jerome Sawyer is a professional and made that correction. But then again, makes you wonder if he DID receive a call. I don’t think he would put his credability on the line like that man. All in all, this boy is the Kanye of Nassau…
He may have to bear some of the cost of the trial or re-trial if this Judge is in a bad mode. I don’t know what to say, he needs a good explaination!
