FNM boycott workers was absent on the annual Labour Day Parade!
Nassau, Bahamas – Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie joined his party members and walked with workers on the Sir Randol Fawkes Labour Day Parade in Nassau on Friday.
Christie could not believe the crowd marching behind him as he led PLPs up East Street hill in the heart of his constituency. The march was measured in this way: as the frontline of PLP supporters approached Christie Park, the tail still trailed well past the Hilton on Bay Street. It was the biggest showing of PLP support in the history of Labour Day Parades.
The Gold colored shirts titled “PLP & Labour ONE” pointed up the fact that the governing party is standing with workers.
One observer told Bahamas Press, “Where is the FNM? Cutting deals? Should they not also stand with workers of this country? Or are they so committed to the wealthy foreign class and clients connected to Save the Bays that they don’t give a damn about the struggles of Bahamian workers?”
Under the PLP, labour strife around the country has fallen quiet and many agreements between the government and unions have all been settled.
This proves that there must be a special relationship with labour in the Christie Government.
