Police keeping the streets safe

In keeping with priority #1 of the Commissioner of Police 2012 policing plan, “Tackling Crime and Allaying the Fear of Crime” and priority #4, “Enforcing the Rules of the Road”, officers of the Northeastern Division conducted operation “Save Lives” and officers of the Central Division conducted operation, “Take Back Our Streets”.

On Tuesday 19th June, 2012 officers of the Northeastern Division conducted operation “Save Lives” which resulted in ten (10) people, five (5) males and five (5) females being arrested.

Some of the offences for which persons were arrested include: Damage, Assault, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Causing Harm and Stealing.

On Wednesday 20th June, 2012 between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm officers of the Central Division conducted operation, “Take Back Our Streets” in the area of Bay and Market Streets which resulted in sixty-nine (69) drivers being cited for various traffic infractions.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the occupants of a gold Nissan Maxima responsible for a shooting.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 10:00 pm on Wednesday 20th June, 2012.

Initial reports indicate that the victim, a 43 year old male was at Valencia Drive, South Beach along with others when the occupant/s of the vehicle fired gunshots which resulted in the male being shot.

He was transported to hospital via EMS personnel where he is detained in stable condition.
